Property's Joel "emilio" Mako has been banned during a Fragbite Masters match against HellRaisers.
Property were leading the score 8-4 on de_dust2, the first map of the best-of-three series, when Joel "emilio" Mako was suddenly disconnected from the server.
"emilioOOo<25>" disconnected (reason "VAC banned from secure server," read the server log.
Some players have reported that a major VAC ban wave has hit the scene, though this has not yet been confirmed.
Accoring to fragbite, Property "have been suspended from the tournament until further notice" as the event organisers investigate what happened.

One exception is when VALVE release there VAC waves to maybe clean caught users database or when they update VAC.
also, vac bans usually take a while, so he might have been banned because he cheated at some point, but not necessarily at his last match.

And also to my knowledge all wrongful VAC bans have been overturned and there has never been wrongful ban that has only affected one player - everytime something not-a-cheat triggers VAC it is usually followed up with hundreds of players getting banned for that false alarm, in which case it will be overturned.
VAC ban is the most obvious indication that you've cheated. Especially nowadays when VAC have been catching up with the private cheat providers. There has been about 3-5 VAC banwaves recently, emilio's cheat was just caught on the latest one.
VAC normally indicated that you would've been cheating at some point, however in CSGO there has been numerous false positive bans and some of them revoked if they faught enough for it..
Just one of the many proves that mistakes do happen at VALVe.
You're a fucking moron if you cant see how that case you posted was an EXCEPTION. But if emilios ban is lifted then fair enough, he is clean. But if not, we all know why.
A few cases within hundreds of thousands does not give enough reason to doubt the system, yes we can say there is always a possibility that the VAC banned player didnt cheat - BUT because of the rarity of false bans AND the fact that people are liars, its safe to assume that unless your ban is lifted - you cheated.
Never forget WRTT...

You have no idea but you will call me crazy if I tell you that more then 50% of the current Swedish pro scene are new schoolers and infamous cheaters from the dying mid end 1.6 era.

VAC bans come when VAC detects a cheat while you're playing and overwatch bans come from overwatch. If you get an overwatch ban it is no wonder that VAC has also detected you, hence you get banned on both fronts.
You're probably well aware that the VAC bans are delayed so this cannot possibly happen by chance, really. So at least the two systems are interconnected in a way that automatically VAC bans you without the delay if cheats have been detected and OW ban was applied. But then the VAC ban delay wouldn't make any sense because any ban that resulted in a OW ban would also reveal the cheat's VAC status.

My point is that VALVe have said that those two systems are separate and that Overwatch bans do not turn into VAC bans etc, so why would they just lie about that? Its just doesnt add up so unless there is more proof that claim is just untrue.

If the system works like I/you said, there's an obvious flaw to it though. As far as I'm concerned, the VAC bans come in waves/delayed so that the cheater cannot be sure which hack got himself flagged (and continue to use other hacks on a new account / warn others about the detection). But if an OW ban automatically results in a instant VAC ban (if the account was flagged for a VAC ban), you could get yourself a cheat and hack blatantly. You will get Overwatch banned very soon but you will also know the cheat's VAC detection status from your profile's VAC status.
And for the lying part, it seems that they've already lied because the systems seem to be connected up to some degree. Why? No idea. Perhaps they don't really care because legit players shouldn't have to worry about these things anyway.

'You will not be banned by the VAC system unless you login to a VAC-secure server with a cheat installed on your computer.'

Maybe a mistake by Valve, since KubiK also got unbanned..or his private hack got vac detected (that would be hilarious :D)

Joel 'emilio' Mako
The player Joel "emilio" Mako of Team Property was VAC banned in the middle of a Fragbite Masters group stage match. Team Property were given 48 hours to investigate the ban and to give evidence proving that the ban was faulty.
This is a unique situation, to say the least. In all my years of doing Counter-Strike content and events, this one is a first.
As no evidence has been presented, and as the VAC ban is still intact with Mako's account, we have no choice but to disqualify Team Property from Fragbite Masters Season 3 with the reason: Cheating. As for Joel "emilio" Mako, he will be banned from all future Fragbite Masters events.
If additional evidence is discovered and presented to the organizers the case can be revisited. But for now, this case is considered closed.
Pontus Eskilsson, Head of Fragbite Masters
