Cloud9 have announced that they have completed the signings of Ryan "fREAKAZOiD" Abadir and Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham, with Braxton "swag" Pierce joining the staff as analyst.
The North American team had been left with a three-man roster after dispensing with the services of Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen and Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan following a run of poor form in both online and offline tournaments.
The final straw came at the ESEA Finals, in Dallas, where the team finished 7th-8th following 0-2 defeats against mousesports and Nihilum Gaming.
Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir, a former member of Dynamic and Frost Gaming, had been widely expected to join Cloud9, and not even the leak of information regarding a deal with the North American giants prevented the move from coming to fruition.
He has now been given the chance to play for the team on a permanent basis after acting as a stand-in for the squad in March 2014, following the departure of Braxton "swag" Pierce to iBUYPOWER.
Rounding out the roster will be Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham, who had been without a team since the disbandment of his iBP team following a match-fixing scandal. Since then, he had played for Torqued at Clutch Con and for eLevate at CEVO Season 6 finals, both as a substitute.
"There are few words that can accurately express the amount of revitalization going on within the Cloud9 camp," Cloud9 manager Tres "stunna" Saranthus said in a statement.
"In fREAKAZOiD and Skadoodle, we have two players with the most obvious goal to win first and foremost. I look at the hunger to succeed as an extremely essential key to success going forward with any player.
"These players aren’t out for themselves, but for the common good of bringing titles back to NA."
Looks like the dream died tonight boys, will be streaming in the AM. Light a candle for me in the meantime [*]— Spencer Martin (@HikoCS) April 29, 2015
Meanwhile, Cloud9 have announced that swag, who is currently banned from Valve-sponsored events and from most tournaments following his involvement in iBP's match-fixing scandal, has been hired as as analyst "to help ensure the roster’s performance and success" in future competitions.
"In Pierce, I see one of the world’s best competitors and with him a vast knowledge of competitive experience," Saranthus said.
"I cannot think of a former professional player more capable of helping to guide this team to where it needs to be."
Cloud9 now have:
Braxton "swag" Pierce (analyst)
#95 meant that as swag would be playing instead of fREAKAZOID, fREAK would always just be known as an onliner, presumably because he's misinformed about fREAK's past. That's the logical assumption, can't know for sure because he phrased it terribly.
Couldn't imagine having to live in a society full of people like you.
By the way, the suicide rate has been decreasing greatly in Finland on the past ~7 years. Prolly gonna reach yours soon.
Wow get more upset kiddo.
Atm Finland isn't even at top-20 at suicide rates so that's not particularly high considering there are other European welfare states higher or about on the same numbers.
Time to leave the PC and hit the school someday, you may also find some equally stupid Aussies to discuss your childhood traumas with.
It's sad you are about to increase Australia's suicide rate in the future on a high chance.
Stay strong, you are definitely not alone with your problems in Australia.
Do you have the correct amount of chromosomes?
If you feeling suicidal, call 1300 651 251.
"All together, the information we have collected and received makes us uncomfortable continuing any involvement with these individuals. Therefore we will be directing our CS:GO event partners to not allow any of the following individuals’ participation in any capacity in Valve-sponsored events:
Braxton “swag” Pierce"
Are you saying that whatever input swag gives will not be used in any way for majors?
If Valve really mean what they say then it should be that these banned players are not involved in your team else your team is not part of a major.
I mean look at s1mple and Flipside; he's banned from ESL, but competes with them everywhere else.
Swag will probably play fulltime for them from January I predict!
LOL 18yo analyst? Happy for him I hope they recruit him after the ban for sgares..
Swag knows all the things he needs to know and can actually kill people.
is top 8 actually.
freakazoid (he's like rpk, needs training)
with sgares IGL like blade was for hellraisers.
that's top 5 material.
Dreamhack Winter 2014: Lost to Penta 16-13
ESWC 2014 - Beat 3DMax 16-11
FACEIT 2014 LAN Semifinals: Beat LDLC 2- 0
FACEIT 2014 LAN Finals: Lost to Fnatic in Final 3-1
CEVO Season 5 Finals: Won final against Cloud9: 4-1
Can't compete? Seems they could to me.
Also CEVO was NA only
Without swag, steel, azk and dazed NA is nowhere near being able to compete.
The entire squad should have been replaced, and the Shroud should be on a trial with the message "Be serious, or fuck off" prove yourself, instead of streaming. Make a choice, either you're 100% competitive or casual.
According to the interview in "Counter points" with Thorin, Semphis, and Hiko. C9 asked to higher their salary to make some of them stay, even though they didn't perform.
Typical NA, all about show, compared to results. It's not about winning, it is about being popular.
Skadoodle. Sad sellout.
Personally, I don't think that the problem is in shroud. If anything, that guy is the only one who was performing for c9 in 2015.
If Hiko was smart enough, he could just get over the fact that he and c9 had/have different opinions about how the team should work. He needed to see there is no way for him to find any team that could compete with EU teams besides c9 (we know what happened to ibp). He probably didn't want to become some kind of hypocrite so that's why he still didn't want to play with c9, but I am pretty sure he wished he was with ska in c9 right now.
So D1verse, it comes from his own team mates.
It is not about attending everything. You can also be a professional footballer, and attend training every day, but if you have been up all night, drunk, and show up wasted the next morning. Then how much worth is your training/effort really going to be the next day. You are not only showing up as a poor version of yourself, you are also letting the team down, and wasting everyones time.
How can we see that? Look at cloud9's results. I doubt they are living up to their fat paycheck. Fat, satisfied, and done. That's why Hiko left.
lets not forget why swag left col in first place - hiko bullying/trolling swag all the time
so why would they prefer someone like hiko over n0thing whos better at his peak
Why the fuck should people choose anyone based on their past peak performance, when they can't perform anymore.
So because n0thing had the greatest and hardest cock back in the day, I should pick him still today, even though he can't even get a boner anymore? That's a weird logic mate.
If you want to win it is all about having a consistent good/great performance. Hiko has that, and n0thing doesn't
Look in the dictionary under "gullible", there's a picture of you. Until we hear shroud's side, you're a nobody that knows nothing presuming you're an expert.
Well, "presuming" I am an expert. I find it pretty interesting that both Hiko + Thorin agree on n0thing has not performed or being dedicated for a long time, especially again looking at his performance and c9 results. If Hiko and Thorin aren't experts in what is going on in counter strike and C9, I don't know who is.
You want to hear it from Shrouds side? What the fuck do you expect to hear? No, I do not stream all day, and wake up wasted, but totally refreshed, and we get the maximal out of our practice, and we have results to back it up? But Hiko just lie to make himself seem like the good guy. Dream on.
It is also fair enough, if that makes skadoodle happy. From a competitive point of view, skadoodle, could just have been a part of something greater with his talent.
Sellout has nothing to do with matchfixing. Sellout is a term used for people who stop wanting to be the best, and choose the easy route and earn well.
Like Actors doing commercials.
SK Gaming ofc (BY FAR)
loominati confirmed gg best team ever ezy skins 240 value all in
And we have a very solid lineup
Not as good as Hiko's DreamTeam, but pretty close.
^make this happen and you have a cchance again.
The best thing for C9 is to drop that worthless team and build a team around hiko.
As much as I understand fREAKAZOID is a beast, I just don't get this statement. He's always been a player to jump in and out of Tier2 NA teams but I don't know if that's because CS is a hobby to him or he's always wanted to be in a top team.
I'm really interested to see how he goes and I wish him the best of luck
He's perfectly built for Rugby so that makes sense.
Thanks for the info!
Lots of old CS stars from NA played sports competitively before devoting themselves to the mouse. I saw an old video with interviews of the classic coL line-up, and I think almost every member mentioned playing either baseball or hockey in high school, and how their play-to-win spirit started there.
Its same with pasha. So should VP replace almost most popular (after NEO) player in Poland ? Think about it . Pasha is player who can be 32/11 in one match and on second map he is like 8/22.
Btw :N0thing is really nice guy , he is spirit of this team. I spoke with him for some time on ESL Katowice 2k15 and he seemed really nice. He is intelligent and funny , but I know that doesnt meen that he is good. I just want to point out that he is likeable and i dont see him being kicked out from C9 , same as Sean, he is good in-game leader for their team.
About swag - he might be not experienced enough. But i guess they are going to change freakzoid to him at the beggening of upcoming year meanwhile giving him a chance to stay on a "flow" and practice more in CS:GO + learning their strats so he would know them when he is going to come back to scene . Ggwp hltv confirmed.
I guess it indicates, that swag won't get unbanned ever, otherwise why would you call him a former pro player?
as for c9 roster, idk if it is better than the old compLexity one (hiko, swag, nothing, sgares, semphis) but it is a serious upgrade for the latest one as shroud and n0thing have improved greatly since then and sgares could serve as a secondary awper/autosniper and caller.
-someone (desi was playing pretty good lately, but dunno)
Probably won't happen anyway and they will make a shitty teams as always.
-fREAKAZOID +elige or sancz
This time you will see -nOthing threads (Ultimatr cure for clown9)
You heard it here my bros.
IVE BEEN AT THE GYM THE LAST 3 YEARS AND IT MAKES ME BETTER AT CS.
WHAT IN THE FUCK IN CLOUD9 THINKING
Retards like you amaze me.
Because of shitty teammates,n0thing thinks he's best.
Anyway,DaZeD will continue his c9 videos while Hiko's enjoying about casting the match of shitty c9.
Still kinda sad for Hiko.
DaZeD would definitely be more capable. Still nice to hear swag is making a return to the scene. Hopefully he'll only be banned for a year.
not bad imo, they are waiting for swag unban
This line-up is improved, but its not NA's salvation. We don't know freakazoid's form after his long absence. We don't know whether sgares will be able to step up and be the right leader for this team. And above all, because the team wasn't formed with a definite composition in mind, we don't know how this chemistry will work. I hope it works, but my optimism is guarded.
