Valve: "Match-fixing bans permanent"
Time: 2016-01-05 23:37
Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Valve has announced that players involved in match-fixing activities are permanently banned from its tournaments.

Exactly one year ago, match-fixing became a hot topic in the Counter-Strike scene as a report from the Daily Dot's Richard Lewis revealed that the former iBUYPOWER team had lost a CEVO match on purpose to profit from high-value bets placed by smurf accounts on the opposing team.

An investigation launched by Valve resulted in indefinite bans being handed out to seven people, including ex-iBP quartet Sam "DaZeD" Marine, Braxton "swag" Pierce, Keven "AZK" Lariviere and Joshua "steel" Nissan.

Four ex-members of iBP are permanently banned

Months later, a similar case rocked the French scene as four of Epsilon's players were found guilty of profiting from an ESEA Invite match. When announcing these bans, Valve stated that the restrictions would "not be re-evaluated before 2016", which many interpreted as a sign that match-fixing suspensions could eventually be lifted.

Robin "GMX" Stahmer and Joey "fxy0" Schlosser - two of Epsilon's players involved in the scandal - recently returned to action and joined professional teams, while some of the ex-iBP members competed at small offline tournaments in 2015.

But these players' hopes of ever attending a major again have now been quashed by Valve, which, in a blog post, declared that all those who have been found guilty of match-fixing are banned for life, in order to ensure that the integrity of top-flight competition "can never be called into question."

"To clarify, the bans for these players are permanent, and players proven to have taken part in match-fixing will be permanently banned," Valve wrote.

"We will continue to take whatever action we think is necessary to protect the entertainment value created by professional Counter-Strike, including, on occasion, terminating our relationship with individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to exploit their fans’ faith in the integrity of the sport.

"While bans can be disruptive and painful to some members of the community, they are sometimes necessary."

This includes ex-IBP and ex-Epsilon players

2016-01-05 23:49:39

2016-01-05 23:53:27
its not fair and its really shitty to do that to your fans and supporters but you cant see the truth from pasha's asshole
2016-01-05 23:58:31

i feel so great right now. justice has FINALLY been served to the csgo community. steel keeps banning people from his twitch channel who accuse him when they're right about his shady attitude. if valve had unbanned the ex-ibp idiots, they would have thrown again in future games. GUA-RAN-FCK-TEED! once you've given in to greed, can't undo this. next throw, dazed would just be more careful and like VP pro-throwers, they'll never be caught again.

There's a lot of un-educated posts in this thread. Yours takes the crown though.
2016-01-06 14:48:00
2016-01-07 14:12:24
You clearly don't understand a number of things including people, psychology, rehabilitation, effect of punishment etc.

The fact of the matter is none of them would ever throw a match again. I bet none of them would even bet on matches anymore due to their bad experience and life altering punishment.

At the end of the day, all this proves is that Valve places online betting/gambling (and directly tied into this is their own monetary gain) above everything else.
2016-01-06 15:56:49
Yup they dont give a shit about for example cheating in their majors. I hope organisations like dreamhack and esl will run down valve majors.
2016-01-06 16:55:56
your comment makes no sense whatsoever. If a professional player is found guilty of cheating he is issued a ban by valve, saying that they dont care about cheating in majors is just made-up bullshit...
2016-01-06 23:53:41
Yeah, issued by valves anticheat to be more exact, which is known to be a shitty anticheat. Thats all precaution against cheating they do at majors. Thats the same as you would go and play MM. Are you fucking dumb mate?

Read the end of that to understand what I mean.
2016-01-07 11:37:13
you do realise its quite hard to cheat at lan? quite a lot harder than to cheat online, and to say that the only people that catch cheaters is the community is just bullshit cause 99% are silvers that call every mouse movement hax...
2016-01-07 17:18:50
It's pretty easy when you can bring whatever you want with you on stage.

Read this:

"The big question is: If there are cheats - how?

There are not that many possibilities. I'd love to know why Riot games doesn't allow pro players to bring in their own gear to pro League matches (LCS). In the LCS teams/players tell Riot which gear they want to use (for example mouse one, keyboard x and headset xyz). Then riot provides the gear.
They also have metal detectors at the LCS stages which they don't use at CS stages (to my knowledge). Imagine this: a team has someone in the audience. Guy in audience has two buttons. He hits A if someone is going to push bombsite A. Vibrator in flushas left shoe is vibrating. He hits button B -> vibrator in flushas right shoe is vibrating.

just an example.

What I don't understand: in counter strike pros are allowed to bring in their own gear. Sure: ESL stores it for a couple of days to "check" it. But do they even know what the fuck to look for? Why does riot strictly forbid that shit but valve allows it? Does riot know about technical possibilites that valve doesn't?"

When they go through middle, he hits C and vibrator in flushas butt starts vibrating.

Ex-MyRevenge threw for skins. Where is their bans?
2016-01-11 11:11:00
"steel keeps banning people from his twitch channel who accuse him"

Accuse him of what? are you new to cs scene? he had admitted, discussed and went over this topic a million times. Are you dumb or new? its one or the other. He isn't allowed to ban people who come in his stream and talk shit about the throw?

1. He is.

2. You should get a life.

"when they're right about his shady attitude"

You accused him of having a "shady attitude" ? LOLOL confirmed my point

2. You Should get a life.

If you don't like his attitude? why are you in his stream? why do you care who he bans? You're a wimp and guaranteed you've never actually played a competitive team sport in your life. I can tell by your feeble mind.

lmao wait, I'm about to grill you're lame ass.

"steel keeps banning people from his twitch channel who accuse him"

So you said that, but you're calling me a kid? I hope you're kid, because if you're not and you are salty about how another grown man runs his chat, his stream, his job, the way he makes his livng, I feel sorry for you. Lmao what do you do for a living? last time you smelled vagina?

& you told me to "get a life...."

lmao but you

no time to waste on more of your dumb words, kiddo.

get rekt, idiot.

and ska isnt even innocent (there is a steel vod saying by the time it got leaked ska didnt want any more skins lmao)
2016-01-06 00:49:48
2016-01-06 01:34:13
How is that "not being innocent" ? He actually says no thanks to be a part of it.
2016-01-06 01:52:31
the bots were busy so they couldnt take the skins out, when ska heard that they got caught, he hadnt taken any skins out yet and decided he wont, hence he didnt get banned. but ska DID THROW THE MATCH with the other members, he is not innocent, he just didnt take the skins out in time and got lucky.
2016-01-06 02:08:36
Source? :)
2016-01-06 02:16:33
steels stream, its 3 AM, i cant be bothered to find the vod
2016-01-06 02:19:45
steel is a fucking idiot, would be naive to believe anything he says tbh.
2016-01-06 02:21:00
so i should listen to people on hltv instead of the person who was in that group of people who threw? hey, since u wanted sauce, heres sauce /watch?v=NwdC_AVB27g , better not make me find the timestamp. gl hf
2016-01-06 02:25:27
First of all, as I said I don't believe a word of what steel is saying so that's not a source to me.
Second, I'm not saying you should listen to ppl on hltv because I don't either.
All I'm saying is that what steel is saying is definitely not a fact no matter where he was and what role he had.
Have you ever heard of being falsely accused? If I go to the supermarket with a friend of mine and I'm getting busted in stealing and I tell that my friend was in on it, is that a fact just because I was there? No.
2016-01-10 19:48:07
I think Thoorin said the same thing in his youtube podcast. You can look it up.
2016-01-06 05:55:07
Is that supposed to be better? :D No matter what who says it's not a fact and definitely not evidence, so he's innocent.
2016-01-10 20:04:02
what steel said on stream was that he heard it from azk that ska doesn't want to be part of them anymore when the skins came. However, we all know AZK is a lying piece of shit that fabricates things. They are just trying to play innocent and drag skadoodle down with them. It's human nature.
2016-01-06 04:04:43
it's not human nature for skadoodle to say "i don't want to be part of the throw, but you can do it if you want"

at least ask them to use a stand in if he didn't want to be part of it
2016-01-06 10:01:30
I swear...

They were in ESEA league when they threw, which meant without using their manager (who might not have even been on the roster) they couldn't have used a stand-in.

Further, since they were trying to help NetcodeGuides get into the LAN finals at the time, a FFL wouldn't have worked so they more or less had to field their normal 5.
2016-01-06 17:15:29
yeah not getting the skins does not excuse you from participating in a throw. It's like to rob a store with 4 other guys but don't take your share and tell the police "men I didn't know we were stealing and I didn't take my share you know, so im innocent"
2016-01-06 03:37:27
the problem in the iBP case is that the only hard evidence of any throwing occurring was in the skins received and Ska didn't receive any.
2016-01-06 05:49:03
"No body, no murder"
2016-01-06 13:45:48
In dubis pro reo mate. Thats a much older rule and it definetly applies here.

(For those who dont know waht that means: if its not 100% clear the suspect is let go)
2016-01-06 23:59:34
There's no actual evidence that Ska was even in on the throwing as he didn't profit anything from it. What steel says is not a fact.
2016-01-10 20:02:08
well. he played the match didnt he ?
2016-01-06 14:33:28
Correct, what's your point? Playing a match and throwing a match ain't quite the same.
2016-01-10 20:10:26
He knew that the 4 other guys was going to throw. So its not quite the same but not that far away.

I dont really care if he did get skins or not , what i care about is that he knew and you can clearly see from the season match that he didnt even try. And u might say : "ofc he didnt try because he knew the other guys would not play their best" But hey , if you think playing poorly by choice isnt throwing well there you go.
2016-01-11 17:38:08
But that's not evidence :) You can't prove that he actually threw the match with them, so that makes him not guilty
2016-01-11 20:02:42
it's all explained in one of thorin's recent videos on youtube. subscribe. it's worth it.

well ScreaM honestly didn't even know about the throw. Ska did. So Ska's really lucky lol
2016-01-06 00:52:32
ScreaM was fully aware
2016-01-06 01:09:14
ScreaM said he didn't know. Even his teammates said they ScreaM didn't know because they didn't tell him. What makes you think he knew? And why else wouldn't ScreaM have gotten banned?
2016-01-06 03:02:06
I believe scream defended his teammate on vod if I remember correctly..
He was trying hard in the game as well.. Top fragging for the team
2016-01-06 07:31:55
Yea I mean that suggests even more that ScreaM was unaware of the throw
2016-01-06 09:40:46
If you watch the demo you can clearly see he was trying.
2016-01-06 10:01:01
I heard he was "cmon guys what the fuck is happening?" in the game lmao
2016-01-06 10:42:13
ya i remember they got to 'hell' (under heaven) on an eco and ScreaM starts shooting someone at ramp then BAM fxy0 juan deaged ScreaM in the back ;D
2016-01-07 06:46:56
Ska ain't lucky at all, he was aware that the other guys wanted to throw but he said no thanks to be a part of it and didn't gain anything from the loss which makes him innocent.
2016-01-06 01:53:29
I love ska and respect him as a player but he knew before what he was getting into. He didn't accept the skins after when he had an inkling that things could go awry.. He still threw the match only he didn't / couldn't accept the profits.
Well AFAIK.. :)
2016-01-06 02:47:09
In dubis pro reo. So he is innocent.
2016-01-07 00:01:51
That just doesn't make sense to me, how are there no skins for him when AFAIK they won on CSGL? I'm pretty sure they have skins. Well, who knows :)
2016-01-10 19:52:21
Uh no. Ska was part of the throw. He just didn't accept the skins because the whole throw went public before Ska was able to get hold of his skins. So he declined them because he knew he would get in trouble eventually because of it. It's not like he opted out because of moral reasons, he just got lucky that there weren't enough skins for him at the time that everyone else got them.
2016-01-06 03:03:43
Lucky? He could just as easily have joined betting on the enemy on a smurf. Contribute with skins w/e.

Allthough I still think he somewhat got lucky he didnt get any punishment as he knew(?) they would throw the game.
2016-01-06 16:03:29
No... did u read the article? None of the players bet on their smurfs. They only had their friend Duc Pham do all the betting for them so that there'd be no connection to the players at all betting on the enemy team. All they had to do was throw and receive skins from Duc Pham. Ska didn't accept the skins because there weren't any left for him yet, then the throw went public, so he declined receiving any after this. He did just get lucky that there weren't enough for him, because he would've accepted otherwise. That's what AZK said
2016-01-07 01:04:49
Every free court on the world would let him go, cause in this case "in dubis pro reo" applies.
2016-01-07 00:03:27
You talk like it's something you know? :) There's no evidence that Ska actually threw the match which makes him innocent even if he actually did throw it. As long as there's no evidence, then he's innocent.
2016-01-10 20:13:09
Because AZK said that Ska was in on it on his stream. He just couldnt accept his skins. I never said Ska deserves a ban or anything. Quit assuming im saying Ska is guilty and should be punished. I like Ska and im glad hes not banned, but that doesnt mean he wasnt part of the throw. He also never awped during that game, even though he was IBPs main awper. That just kinda shows he didnt really try
2016-01-10 22:06:28
What AZK says is not a fact nor evidence to prove a person guilty. And I'm not assuming that you said Ska was guilty, you actually said it just fine, "Ska was part of the throw". It's not evidence that Ska didn't buy an awp during a game. If they ran around with zeus it would be a different case. So he's still innocent :)
2016-01-11 10:13:11
Thooorin already explained this. And if AZK were to tesify against SKA in a court case, it would be evidence since he was THERE to not only witness it, but knew everyones intentions as well. U think witness testimonies mean nothing? Thats clearly evidence. Youre just blindly denying everything because u wanna believe what u want. Ska never denied throwing either. Itd be a different story if he denied claims of throwing and if AZK never spoke out against him. But if this were court, hed be considered guilty based solely on AZKs testimony and him clearly not trying in the game. Youre saying the primary awper who never said he didnt throw, has a witness that was with him claim he was part of it, and him not using the awp in game despite being primary awper as not evidence? Okay kiddo. Ska has never NOT used the awp in a professional match where he was the primary awper for the team. NEVER. He always had an awp at some point during the game. You say thats coincidence? Believe what u want. The evidence is there fanboy. No matter what i say youre just going to be like "Nope thats not evidence" lmfao. U have no idea what evidence is and how it works. You just believe what u want and dismiss everything else.
2016-01-11 18:08:14
go watch the video by thorin on his youtube channel about ex-IBP and the murkey case of swag and ska. ska actually deserved the permaban as well but he just got really reeeeeeally lucky. i won't post spoilers unless you guys want me to.
2016-01-06 13:48:05
Blind fanboys will deny and deny this. What AZK said IS EVIDENCE against Ska. But people are idiots and don't know what the definition of evidence is. I mean I like Ska a lot and I don't want him banned and i'm glad he's not, but he was definitely part of the throw and just got lucky that there weren't enough skins for him before the throw went public. Blind fanboys will keep saying "nope, not evidence" like that idiot above because he's just in denial
2016-01-12 08:04:17
Yea but thats not match fixing
2016-01-06 00:02:57

they have the same right to bet as anyone else. you guys are fucking sad cus you lost your skins. RiP Skins
2016-01-06 00:14:44
No they don't? Valve stated that professionals are not allowed to associate with gambling sites in any way.
2016-01-06 00:21:09
lol they still bet on sites lmao, you really believe they don't?
2016-01-06 01:42:36
have you ever noticed the csgo pro players stream and gameble or give away these crazy expensive skins like it's just random shitty drops? well, there's a reason for that, dufus.
2016-01-06 13:49:47
I meant betting on teams and such, dufus
2016-01-06 18:36:34
they don't, valve made it clear that pros are not allowed to associate with csgl

i dont give a fuck about skins
2016-01-06 00:23:55
Valve made that statement months after VP did it so that really doesn't apply
2016-01-06 12:57:36
No player should be allowed to bet on their own matches period
2016-01-06 00:24:08
only complete idiots would believe that valve saying something would change the potential for csgo pros to skip earning thousands upon thousands in betting wins.
2016-01-06 13:51:11
If he stole skins from anyone it was from CSGL and not his fans as they lost their skins either way.
2016-01-06 01:55:30
just Pashka things bet against your team after match

are you high? they didnt throw. they played the match beforehand and later a recorded demo was shown live while csgolounge didnt know so thought that was the actual game. And thus vp bet, they never threw. They didnt even need to throw, since they just could bet on the winner anyways. Did you even read the fucking article?

fucking muslim
2016-01-06 00:09:24
tell me, how did VP steal skins from their fans?
2016-01-06 00:22:08
read the article? vp lost the match and bets were still open on csgl

vp deciced to bet on the match, AFTER the match had already been played

2016-01-06 00:31:57
And how does that make it a steal from their fans? Where the hell are their fans in this situation?

Fans bet on vp -> vp lose legit -> SKINS GONE no matter if pasha would bet or not.
2016-01-06 02:01:05
Not to mention that someone from VP even told fans (Not directly) to bet on opponents...

2016-01-06 15:33:52
oh cmon swedistan dont be mad......

2016-01-06 08:11:03
Difference is that the match was allready played since 1-2 days when CSGL put it out on their site, all the players allready knew the outcome since the match wasnt casted live but they show a vod on it with comments.

Not at all, VP did nothing wrong while CSGL fucked up. VP never throw = should not get banned.
2016-01-06 00:38:54
"Did nothing wrong"

Do you know that there is a blog posted by valve saying pro players should not gamble on pro matches?
2016-01-06 00:46:15
That is just bullshit, ofc they should be able to gamble. They dont make that much.
2016-01-06 05:40:13
What valve says goes apparently, and they just happen to not follow through with this.
2016-01-06 05:54:25
That post was posted after VP did that...
2016-01-06 13:22:20
Blog was posted after the VP incident
2016-01-06 12:59:17
it wasnt all of vp who bet after the match was over though wasnt it? I thought it was just pasha
2016-01-06 00:55:52
They didn't throw, he just knew the result because he was apart of it. Essentially insider trading, but nothing he did was necessarily wrong as there weren't rulesets in place preventing him on taking advantage of knowing the result.

>"First of all, CSGOLounge didn't know that the match was broadcasted with a recorded demo. FACEIT never told us that the match between Virtus.pro and LDLC.com was played before the scheduled time,"

stole skins from his fans, pretty much the same thing

valve says its about integrity, if its about integrity might aswell ban vp
2016-01-06 00:16:48
This is CSGL's own foult, and didn't have an impact on the game. The match was played out, without any throwing deal. Then they bet on CSGL after. This has nothing to do with Valve, it is simply CSGL not doing things the right way. Of course this should never have happened, and is not good sportsmanship, but it is FAR from throwing a match.

Now, why did Valve care for the throwing scandal of IBP? Because this changes the INTEGRITY of the matches. No-one could believe any results, or even regard CS as a sport, if they hadn't dealt with it.
2016-01-06 13:54:04

2016-01-06 00:16:09
You do understand, that they already lost that game and those "fans' skins" were already gone, don't you?
2016-01-06 09:32:03
no he doesnt, he copies that post under almost every reply in this topic, dont feed the troll :)
2016-01-06 14:07:51
Not true, the fan skins didn't go to who deserved to win them. The players didn't make a risky bet or anything. They don't deserve the skins.

They stole skins from the other people who legitimately bet on the match.
2016-01-16 06:17:23
Competitive integrity. Valve cares about players throwing matches, not about what happens to skins you bet on shady sites.
2016-01-06 14:07:23
no they didn't.. they played the match, lost, then saw it was still on csgl and bet against themselves... not saying there's nothing wrong with that but not even remotely the same as ibp and epsilon
2016-01-06 01:19:19
Did you actually read the post? It says due to miscommunication the match was still open for bets AFTER it was played, which means it wasn't a throw but simply a loss and pasha wanted to make a small win out of it when he found out AFTERWARDS.
2016-01-06 01:50:05
It's not a throw if they bet after they already played the fucking match.
2016-01-06 07:43:41
The stream was literally hours after the game had been played, in other words they knew who had won and who they could bet on. However, they did NOT throw.
2016-01-06 08:19:57
its not a throw but its a fucking asshole move
2016-01-06 08:53:30
By far it is, but I see no particular reasons to ban them due to the fact that they did not attempt any sort of match fixing where the lower odds would provide them with huge money gains, like IBP did
2016-01-06 08:54:20
They didn't get banned so that they can't throw anymore. They got banned for throwing the first time. There is no second chance to it.
2016-01-06 10:22:25
No - VP just abused a shitty betting sites. They never bet on their own match, before it was over. Once the match was over.

They heard that a betting site had not yet closed for bets, on a match already finished, so they bet on the match, just like many others.

I myself earned 200€ betting on that match, just to see if it worked.

This is no matchfixing, but just abuse of a shitty website design. The only ones who can take action in this, is the betting site banning users, abusing a bug or human error.

this got to hurt...
2016-01-05 23:57:23
It does. In only a way that gamers and nerds will understand. This brings up a solid point, gambling ruins lives. Maybe I will send an email to the Federal trade commission and my State gambling control office letting them know that people are betting on items which are sold for cash. As an adult it offends me that kids can gamble these items which are bought and paid for with money. Each State in the United States has it's own regulations. I think you should do the same.
2016-01-06 00:06:08
I think I will start with media outlets actually and let the public come to their own conclusion. Imagine what FOX news, or other media outlets will do with this information. "Is Gambling Corrupting Our Youth?" Tonight on <pick your garbage media source that people buy into like cattle here>

Best news right in the beginning of 2016! this just made my day! RIP big nose fck Steel! he was ALWAYS begging for a second chance (to throw endlessly, no doubt) but Valve rekt him hs 720 no scope.
2016-01-06 02:43:41
2016-01-06 03:15:55
Unfortunately for ex-IBP what Valve said is correct and in their right to enforce.
Hopefully they won't have to do this in the future as ppl will know now you don't do this, at least via fear of perma ban if not from sportsmanship.
2016-01-06 14:09:30
2016-01-06 00:11:58
that wasn't match fixing, they lost and betting was still going on so because they knew the outcome tried to bet, i dont think they got any of the skins anyway... still a dick move to pull on people but not the same as match fixing

2016-01-06 00:54:18
Don't forget steel.
2016-01-06 02:04:26
Next is VP!
2016-01-06 00:02:46
That was not matchfixing.
2016-01-06 02:04:56
No, but they profited from their own match who was played earlier. Aka. fraud.
2016-01-06 02:21:18
*tried to profit. (Lounge didn't draft)
2016-01-06 08:44:23
Not even close being fraud.
They took advantage of a mistake, they didn't steal.
2016-01-10 19:35:17
Rip steel :/... give them a second chance
2016-01-06 06:24:58
Yes, we can read :)
2016-01-06 11:59:11
You do realise you read this a day after the article came out right? Initially the news only mentioned ex-IBP
2016-01-06 12:24:30
2016-01-05 23:41:05
Those fuckers better release a statement on the VP guys. It's the fucking same. They intentionally put skins on a match they know they're going to win. Don't fucking say it's something different.
2016-01-05 23:48:11
they lost a match then put skins on it because the site was fucked, it's not nearly the same as fixing a match before playing it
2016-01-05 23:50:03
The site wasn't fucked, just CSGOlounge wasn't uptodate. VP guys knew it and took advantage of it. That's about it. They did it KNOWING it's wrong.
2016-01-05 23:50:38
Valve doesn't care about lounge's problems, IBP and Epsilon are banned because they actually fixed their games, not took skins after losing a match normally
2016-01-05 23:51:53
it was lounge fault
2016-01-05 23:58:56
I think you meant to say "it was VP guys intentionally abusing it"
2016-01-05 23:59:49
no, I meant to say that lounge as a betting site fucked up and didnt remove the match
2016-01-06 00:05:56
And Vp intentionally abused it.
2016-01-06 00:07:18
yeah, but its not matchfixing or throwing. they never received any skins. there was no rules against betting on ur own matches, valve or lounge didnt have ANY rules at that point of time. so basicaly lounge fucked up and then fixed their own mistakes
2016-01-06 00:14:24
There were no rules against throwing either.
2016-01-06 00:16:41
aha, and now there are rules against matchfixing, so iBP and Epsilon are banned for matchfixing and VP isnt cuz they didnt throw or matchfix
2016-01-06 00:20:01
They only intentionally bet skins on the right team knowing it's going to win/lose to gain and at the same time steal money from others that didn't know it.
2016-01-06 00:20:45
but it was lounge fault that they were able to bet knowing the results, how can u ban someone when u have no rules and others are fucking things up?
2016-01-06 00:26:29
Ask Valve, they just banned them without having rules for it.
2016-01-06 00:27:31
I am completely fine with those bans. I also think that skadoodle and scream should be banned too, to bad valve cant prove anything
2016-01-06 00:31:58
So you are saying you can prove it. Would love to hear your evidence.
2016-01-06 00:42:13
No, I didnt say I can prove it. I said that I think they should be banned, but it wont happen cuz valve has no proof of them getting any skins. Can u even read?
2016-01-06 00:45:26
Yoi said Valve cant prove anything and since you want them banned I though you had the evidence to back your claim. But suddenly Anything becomes "they did not deserve skins"
Valve cant prove they match fixed / got skins and you just said that you cant either. Still you want them banned? Very interesting proposition.
2016-01-06 00:49:52
yes, I want them banned. I also want a pizza. You got any problems with that?
2016-01-06 00:53:34
Not really. I would just like to ask where does this need come from? You said that you nor Valve cant prove anything but they should still get banned. Would be interesting to hear what is causing such a strong conviction.
2016-01-06 00:56:05
Its my personal humble opinion that they should be banned with the others. And it seems that you want to be my personal psychologist if u want to know where my needs come from so, pls tell me more. How much $/hr do I have to pay for ur help?
2016-01-06 01:03:53
As you said they are not gonna be banned cause there is no / not rnough evidence they were involved. Every free court in the world would decide the same.
2016-01-07 00:10:09
VP situation is very different lol they didn't MATCH FIX which is what these bans are for you under they perma MATCH FIXERS not people who are smart af to gain some easy skins cause CSGOLounge are stupid af hopefully you understand.
2016-01-06 00:09:03
They essentially took a part of the money from guys who won their bet on the match. While not exactly the same thing, it's still a fucking horrible thing to do.

Just no, VP didn't compromise the integrity of the game. They played, and lost fair and square. It wasn't right, but they took advantage of CSGL's mistake. Not on the same level at all.
2016-01-06 01:22:14
ex-ibp bet on their own match beforehand to lose it intentionally to make cash.
vp lost legit and realized that the match was still open for bets due to miscommunication and took advantage of it which i bet you would've done aswell.

It's not even close being the same thing, taking advantage of something is legal, matchfixing is not.

Wow. Just RIP Braxton "Swag" Pierce... He eoulda been the great 5th man on Cloud9. Just why permanent Valve. Everyone needs a 2nd chance. If they do that again just ban them. Cause why some people have a 2nd chance but these players dont have a Second chance at playing good and succesful career. You Valve just fucked up their day and even career. There is no logic. There needs to be a second chance for everything. But now noone does.
2016-01-06 10:44:15
There is a lot of logic in this. They are thieves and deserve a ban

As the year long bans are set to expire for those involved with match fixing, ESEA will be allowing those users to return to play Pugs/Scrims on ESEA. At this time, those players will not be eligible to play in the ESEA League on any level, which we will continue to review."

Edit: hopefully faceit etc unban them and allow them to play, majors only 4 tournaments a year still can compete.

Dazed has like 1500+ subs on twitch now and said he doesn't care if he is perma banned because he enjoys streaming more, fair enough.

Don't believe he enjoys streaming more. These guys live for the competition otherwise they would have never started to make a living out of it.

Anyway still feel like majors are the most important tournaments but with the Turner league (2,4m$) that changes everything. If Turner dont ban them aswell.

2016-01-05 23:38:58
I do kind of think that since is the first major case of this in CSGO, a life ban is extreme. A 2 year ban here and for ex-Epsilon and a statement to make it clear that any future incidents will result in lifetime bans would be fair, in my opinion.
2016-01-05 23:41:44
2016-01-05 23:42:18
I understand what you think and I kinda feel the same way, but accidents like these has happend multiple times in real life sport events and honestly, the only way this here differs is the amount of money 'lost'.

Of course you can argue their young age and people doing this crime normally wont get a life sentence in prison. :b

all 17 year-olds worth being considered adults?...Nah
2016-01-05 23:54:24
in this case swag deserves to get banned, they knew that throwing and cheating is illegal so they knew the consequences friend

"deserves to get banned for life"

throwing a very irrevelant match when there were no rules regarding throwing?
2016-01-05 23:56:43
Can someone link a video of a 17 year doing some stupid shit that proves they aren't adults?
2016-01-06 00:06:21
yes great so every player under 17 can just throw games because they are too young to understand. you are fucking idiot if you think that. swag knew the risks of that throw and deserves to get punished. he was supposed to be NA star and he threw a game aganist some noobs?
2016-01-06 11:22:51
swag is just trying to use his one-year-less-than-legal-age as an excuse to justify his stupidity. in that case, all pre-18 year olds should be jailed before turn 18, since from that logic, they're gonna fucked up everything for them and others anyway. yeah, right. swag fanboys need to go back to school.

It's a sad day for america, and just so that volvo can use them as examples for non-toleranse towards match-fixing, like we don't get it know; although I would argue the players should have different bans depending on how much they were involved in the matchfix. kvolvo
2016-01-05 23:41:26
You can't know how much they were involved it's impossible to know or the information you are going to get would only come from the people that were punished for doing match fixing thus from plain liers.

When you have those ibp players that were streaming and having a lot of viewers and fame in the US and that they would trow a match to gain skins, well all the people that are behind them and would put skins on their beloved team ibp would lose them.

They scamed their own fans i think that's the worse you can do is scam people that go to events to watch you.

Permanent ban for all players that do that is a good thing, cheating should be the same. Epsilona players got the same ban as ibp finaly it got clarified.

It's such a bullshit. Amazing players get banned because there were 0 rules before that you can get any ban for that. When first players got banned, other players threw knowing they are risking with ban, they got only 1 year ban and still they can participate now.

Valve, you add shit things to game, and now u do shit things, wp. This is literally most retarded thing you could do.
2016-01-05 23:44:31

2016-01-05 23:49:32
epsilon got permabanned too.
"To clarify, the bans for these players are permanent, and players proven to have taken part in match-fixing will be permanently banned," Valve wrote.
2016-01-06 00:07:58
What do you mean? It's god damn match fixing. You fix a match in any sport and you are done, simple as that.
P.S. Which guys got only 1 year ban? Enlighten me.
2016-01-06 00:18:11
?? In Italian football they just get relegated to lower divisions and they work their way back up again within a few seasons
2016-01-06 16:40:47
So because there was no rules it's ok to fix match results. Great logic. You do know people go to jail if this happens in real sports right?

These IBP thieves deserved permaban. We don't need scumbags like that in cs scene.
2016-01-06 00:34:09
Un real sports they fix for millions of dollars. Here they got a few thousand dollars in fucking skins lol

This is a mistake by Valve. Ok this was a scandall but CSGO =/= football/basketball or anykind of real sports.

Unbanning them will be bad for bets in their favor (in this case ex-iBP if they came back with a team) because almost no one will trust them. I understand but imagine if Barça/RM throw a match in their Nation Cup (Copa del Rey) to don't met each other and someone has proofs that Barça/RM threw the match. You think that they'll get banned from this Cupa forever? Well they will get disqualified for sure but not permanently.

I give a little example which is 10 times worse than ex-iBP scandall.

2016-01-05 23:46:40
buy la liga has barca and rm indeed csgo has fnatic nip envy qm and many others if barca and rm banned la liga ends but cs community doesnt need fckn ibp throwers

hltv doesn't give a shit on who is featured on their streaming list, they use this list as a way to try to hurt some streamers for example removing mOE because he is not relevant yet they have miniw who only was known because his brother played for SK and he ringed for them at one lan.

Unfortunate, really. Not that I wish to say that what they did was okay or anything, but the loss of talent to the game really hurts, especially in North America.
2016-01-05 23:50:17
even though I think one year of waiting was too much...
they could let them know after 1 month of thinking or something...

Valve should've shown some respect to the guys and helped to build NA Scene and after a year away from competing they're the best of their continent (apart from LG)...

btw I think Ska should be banned aswell since he was part of the team who throw, he played so he threw too

just my opinion guys
2016-01-05 23:50:18
Indeed, ska should have been banned too. I mean, 4 guys of his team threw and he didn't? However, that's not how justice works, and without evidence they simply cannot ban skadoodle.
2016-01-05 23:52:29
because he didnt trade the skins

they dont have any proof to ban him

more guns, more skins, more money! thats all they care about!
2016-01-06 00:00:40
They can. They can do whatever the fuck they want.
2016-01-06 00:04:25
They can, of course, but people would hate valve because there is no proof (I suppose there isn't any proof at least). That's why valve didn't ban him.

good job valve :) no one should make bad matches for fucking skins :)
2016-01-05 23:50:27

Seriously having no rules on throwing in the past and now bans all players. Should start from now perma ban but unban those that were already banned for a year. Jesus Christ. as if Valve isn't already money-grabbing enough.

Valve: Game's not doing to well in 2013. Let's start by adding skins. Hey new players are buying the game.

Valve: "Let's make this game easier than 1.6 so the noobs can come in. People won't abandon the game now once they own skins for weapons."

Valve: "Hey the skins things worked, let's force people with updates by forcing skins down their throats (cz and r8 revolver).

They wait one year to say this? I hope CS dies from now on. The CS scene certainly will.
2016-01-06 00:04:40
So CS dies because of some kids doing something they know was wrong and starts crying when they get punished for it?

Welcome to the real world.
2016-01-06 00:06:47
u are retarded AND emo ayyy cancer combo
2016-01-06 02:30:03
They waited until a fucking NA team threw. Several EU teams threw which includes Epsilon and some Polish team(s) and some other ones. it's like what the fuck? Why suddenly implement this when one NA team threw, but when multiple EU team threw, now such rules were put into place. Doesn't make sense. Valve is very biased in their calls.
2016-01-06 02:42:39
epsilon is perma too man..............
2016-01-06 02:43:21
I'm not talking about just Epsilon am I? Ignorant fucks.
2016-01-06 02:45:20
are u fucking retarded or what you are comparing tier 30000 players which btw valve had no SOLID proof they match fixed , meanwhile IBP which was one of the best NA teams (which means more visibility so match fix will fuck with valve's image compared to tier 3000 poorlak players no gives a shit about) threw and valve had SOLID proof of it (thanks to a NA girl fucking your scene haha)

Post edited 2016-01-06 02:49:41
2016-01-06 02:49:12
No solid proof? Are you kidding me? Every skin for those matches were refunded because it was solid proof. Are you stupid? Doesn't matter if they were Tier 4 for all I care. If Valve is going to be consistent with every ruling, then they should've started way back before Epsilon even threw when other tier 3-4 teams threw.
2016-01-06 02:54:25
valve is a billion dollar american company, they only care about image and money deal with it they might be retarded but they are still the boss when we talk about majors, IBP can still compete in little lans u know...
2016-01-06 02:59:21
Yeah but 1 year is already enough. They should just unban these players and then implement the outright perma-bans from here on out. They've made their point with the 1 year bans now let them play at bigger tournaments.
2016-01-06 03:05:08
im pretty sure thatd just open the door for future people to go

>"oh but the americans only got 1 year?"
2016-01-07 16:01:30
wtf you will get a lifetime ban for matchfixing in every other sport too lol

2016-01-06 00:04:40
But CS was a pretty new game with no specific rules in place. I guess you're comparing to old sports like boxing or something that has been around for ages and is kind of based on betting while CS is not.
2016-01-06 00:06:14
do you really need rules for that? wtf how old are you?

its matchfixing wtf
2016-01-06 00:08:16
With Counter-Stirke skins...literally digital colors...how old are you? It's not as if they fooled all of Vegas or multiple real money betting sites.
2016-01-06 00:13:46
digital colors , true. but they are worth money and you can turn the value into "real money". shits gets complicated right there mate, you say its not based on betting but it is based on these digital colors now
2016-01-06 00:16:35
Rofl alright. Still think it was way too harsh with a lifetime ban while cheaters and other match fixers walk (1-2 yeas would've been enough). Don't necessarily "like" any of the banned players aside from Swag, but this is a blow to the entire CS scene which is boring as hell atm.

yeah i dont like it either. i think dazed or steel said something like: playing esports has a timelimit ( age ) and if its your passion and you rely on it , then 2 years are a really big deal. i kinda agree with that, at least they now know
2016-01-06 00:21:53
They threw due to the fact that their organization stank and I believe they were hoping to get a new one after their contract ended, which it was about to end anyways. I've even heard that they had no salary, doing all these international events, etc and were not even paid that well (excluding the $0 salary).
2016-01-06 02:55:46
what can we do. at least all the talking should finally be over, maybe other leagues let them play. this issue will always be the parting of the ways
2016-01-06 04:11:53
its still the same

losing on purpose

many guys were betting on this shit (skins and real money) and they stole it just because they wanted to win some shit skins

2016-01-06 00:16:50
No they wanted to make something before the contract with iBP ended. Did you not hear about how iBP were treating their players? No salary and whatnot going on with iBP.
2016-01-06 05:07:37
do you really think that justifies what they did? Just because their org was treating them like dogs, that doesn't allow them to go around and fix matches. Back in 1.6 VP were fucked by their orgs multiple times, yet they didn't do anything close to what iBP did. I mean why the fuck throw when your contract is about to end and you are about to get a better org? I mean what were they thinking? Fuck logic?
2016-01-06 12:35:24
Did I say it justifies them? Seriously, the amount of piece-of-shits like you that shove words down people's throat when they didn't say that is astounding. I gave you the reason to why they threw, but I didn't say anything about it making it right to throw. You know why VP in 1.6 didn't do what iBP did now? Betting on CS wasn't even as big as it is now. Betting on 1.6 was so small in comparison to CSGO that was worth the risk? No.

Also most people aren't even knowledgeable on the subject of throwing in CSGO because all they can comprehend and remember were the iBP and Epsilon when around 6 months prior to those throws, multiple tier 3-4 CSGO teams threw matches. Doesn't matter what tier they are, as long as they're being broadcasted and shown on HLTV, it's just as important as the freaking tier 1-2 matches. Valve didn't do shit there until a fucking NA team does it. If Valve wanted and cared about the CSGO community, they would've just began the perma-ban there or started the rules from that point. They don't care about the CSGO community as much. Why raise the prize pool for their majors to be above $250K when most people are still going to spend money on skins and whatnot. Why waste all those extra profits when there is little to no gain?

i just compared ibp to vp1.6 since you said they were treated like shit by their org. Your boss treating you like shit in a real life job won't make you go and steal shit if your contract is about to expire(or even if it's not, you simply can quit if you're not satisfied), will it? Again, why risk anything if your contract is about to expire. And if that's the reason you gave as to why they threw, then fuck logic again, ey?

Yeah when multiple EU teams threw (I don't give two fucks what tier they were because as long as they're being broadcast on HLTV and listed on HLTV, that means they are on a level that's pretty important in CSGO), valve doesn't do jack shit. One NA team throws, all hell breaks loose.
2016-01-06 00:16:27
they have no proof man. i see these comments so often and you people need to get this: if dborn ex girlfriend wouldnt have shown the screenshots to valve and put pressure on them with the help of richard lewis, this would never have happened. he and other people stated that themselves
2016-01-06 00:19:21

2016-01-06 00:08:26
Really Valve.....Really......EU teams throw in the past, no "huge ass ban hammer slammed down" but when one NA team does it, it's a huge fucking story and the ban hammer is thrown.
2016-01-06 00:09:04
retard blame dborne girlfriend for showing proof not valve having to deal with kids throwing for skins
2016-01-06 02:32:36
So Skadoodle gets away because he was in on the match fix but didn't ACCEPT THE SKINS. That's some major BS. This whole thing is such a joke. You can't ban people for life without having rules in place. It's like the president ordering people to be jailed for life because they hacked someone's computer back when computers came out before people barely even knew it was possible to hack somebody. "Hello I am in charge and I will give these people lifetime sentences because hacking destroys the integrity of future computer usage."

Doing things as a dictator (without listening to the scene/people) to instill fear in others is like the worst thing they could've done. But it's exactly what they did.

2016-01-06 00:14:10
I don't think they deserve a 2nd chance since they knew they were going to get banned by throwing. It's not a mistake if they knew the consequences.Half of them were young adults (except swag) so they should of made the right decision but they didn't, sucks for them but they deserved it.
2016-01-06 01:17:40
I dont think they actually thought they will get life ban. Maybe a 1 year, but pernament im not sure.
2016-01-06 01:23:21
Even if they thought they were only going to get banned for 1 year they still shouldn't have done it.They should be smart enough to know it.
2016-01-06 01:24:32
Yeah, you're right. But somehow i think they deserved one chance. Just because the Na scene would be more strong with ex-iBP

what a bullshit. they are just scape goats for the press to pretend Valves shit lans are not full of cheaters and match fixers. Also no one casres. There are much more money in other bigger leauges and majors from ESL are much better despite lack of anti cheat security as well. valse should ban all players so only 1.6 legends would stay or just allow cheating and match fixing officially and stop this bad joke called "valve care about esport"

Valve (c)

"A Follow Up to Integrity and Fair Play

5 Jan 2016 -

Professional Counter-Strike is very important to us and to our community. The audience’s trust in the integrity of the sport has allowed it to grow to the point where it entertains millions of fans. To ensure that the highest level of competition continues to entertain, that integrity can never be called into question.

Back in January and early February 2015 we took action after we discovered that a small number of professional CS:GO players were engaged in match-fixing. Our decision was to ban these players indefinitely from involvement in Valve-sponsored events. To clarify, the bans for these players are permanent, and players proven to have taken part in match-fixing will be permanently banned.

As the scene grows, it’s an unfortunate reality that some individuals will seek opportunities to take advantage of their fans. We will continue to take whatever action we think is necessary to protect the entertainment value created by professional Counter-Strike, including, on occasion, terminating our relationship with individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to exploit their fans’ faith in the integrity of the sport.

While bans can be disruptive and painful to some members of the community, they are sometimes necessary. We sincerely hope that we won’t have to issue more in the future."
2016-01-06 00:17:04
I dont open other people's links unfortunately, sorry if i missed something important :(

2016-01-06 00:25:12

2016-01-06 00:27:05
2016-01-06 00:27:30
I see where Valve is coming from - however, they literally had zero rules against match fixing in the first place. Going along with everyone mmaking mistakes, they probably eternally ruined the NA scene(for a long time).
2016-01-06 00:17:13
2016-01-06 00:17:59
"making mistakes"

they knew full-well what they were doing bitch
2016-01-06 00:18:10
Why so mad? Like I said, Valve had not set rules against it in place - it is VALVE'S FAULT.
2016-01-06 00:24:33
i'm not mad, im irritated at the people thinking it's not deserved. if valve would set a time-limited ban on the ibp-players it COULD in theory be worth throwing a game, if the ban would only mean they would be out of competition for a year.
2016-01-06 00:35:25
How were iBP supposed to know they were going to be banned with zero rules in place?
2016-01-06 01:12:16
they knew what they were doing was wrong, if they didn't consider the consequences that's on them, they have no one to blame but themselves. they deserve to be permanently banned for fucking with people's money. stay salty
2016-01-06 01:23:13
You're the one swearing - I'm not the salty one here. Consequences? There were no defined consequences. Idiot.
2016-01-06 01:51:02
so you don't expect consequences after doing something MORALLY wrong? ok then
2016-01-06 01:58:25
Thanks for putting words into my mouth - it makes no sense that, even whilst technically legal, the iBP players were banned for "morals" - permanently. If Valve had any morals themselves, they would make it a temp ban.
2016-01-06 02:03:50
lmao, what a fanboy
2016-01-06 02:07:34
Fanboism is not equal to logic. Do they teach over there in Sweden?
2016-01-07 03:42:09
Yo, you're the dude who think this is the be all end all of match fixing, you degenerate. You know what it would take for them to be the match fixing kingpins of the next decade? A fucking telephone.

And who's the fanfag you fanfag, most of us hate these dudes, but what right is right. What is taking a year to decide your posture with no mediation?
2016-01-16 06:01:39
I mean ex-IBP players should still know that throwing a game for skins is still going to get them banned regardless.Half of them were young adults (except swag) so they should of made the right decision but they didn't, sucks for them but they deserved it.

It's so obvious that we don't need a rule.

It's a basic fundamental of EVERY sport or competition, I doubt most of the leagues in any category of sport have a rule saying that match fixing is not allowed. Are they fucking 8 years old? No, they are grown men, they know it was wrong and prohibited.
2016-01-06 01:30:17
Wrong, but not legally defined.
2016-01-06 01:51:52
Ok now fix cheating..

This whole issue is like fucking Obama and the Osama Bin Laden issue. Obama doing a shitty job but then all of a sudden, under his administration, they fucking got Osama Bin Laden even when I can recall recent CNN interviews during that time that HAD Osama Bin Laden talking to CNN. Same goes here, Valve is doing a shitty job for awhile now and all of a sudden, "Look, we don't tolerate these kinds of behaviors." MULTIPLE EU TEAMS THREW IN THE PAST FOR FUCKS SAKE. NO SUCH STATEMENTS THIS BIG WAS EVER ANNOUNCED. ONE NA THROWS, VALVE SUDDENLY CAN'T TOLERATE IT ANYMORE?
2016-01-06 00:19:37

2016-01-06 00:21:40
throwed the match, now u pay for it with full force. Nothing to regret. Skadoodle should be banned aswell.
2016-01-06 00:22:14
kinda harsh perma ban for match fixing and not even ban for a lot of cheaters. GJ valve
2016-01-06 00:22:35
On top of all the other match fixers who got away and cheaters who walk...Richard Lewis gets to strangle people and still work on Valve sponsored events. That's not really destroying the integrity of the sport according to Valve. But this ONE match absolutely did, somehow. It must be personal from Valve.
2016-01-06 00:27:06
yes, either personal or some valve important guy happen to lose a lost of skins in their thrown matches. lol
2016-01-06 02:39:10
2016-01-06 00:23:28
why would you think it would have been a good call to unban them? even though perm ban sounds harsh, it's the right call because this surely should give some second thoughts to everyone who's planning on throwing. it's just not worth it.

same with cheaters, ban 4 lyfe and everybody gets the message, there WILL be consequences.

where is the permanently bann for Virtus.pro gj valve........
2016-01-06 00:24:02
this makes no sense, valve should either ban ska or unban everybody

if you rob a bank but end up with no money from the robbery because your fellow robbers kept all the money to themselves, you and your friends still go to jail

let say hypothetically that C9 throw a game and everybody get skins but ska, should ska not be banned in this situation too??
2016-01-06 00:24:18
murican braindeads in murica if u steal less then your friend its difficult and now niggrous can say what ever they can and if white person say something they are racist... soo you have answer murica is fck up who blame russia but russia and putin are good person who dont give a shit obama/murica can suck his dick cause if he attack russian whole asia gonna join russian site

Does it really matter at this point?

If Valve had the highest paying tournament with the most exposure, maybe. But now that E-League is on its way to debuting with a massive prize pool, do the bans have any real weight? Sure you would have the title of winning a major, but titles don't pay bills, salaries, or provide a profit quite like a $1.3m tourney, nor provide as much exposure as a 30-week long televised tournament.
2016-01-06 00:24:19

2016-01-06 00:29:48
Well. If the moment when they committed the crime, had no law regulating that, it isnt violation. Why hand over a permanent ban? Basics of law but I think that doesnt apply to internet. You cant charge nobody for the incident that happened before applying the law. This is just bullsh.
2016-01-06 00:29:51
ex post facto law, means "from after the action" or "after the facts". A legal thing used in many civilized countries in the west so stop with the "there was no rule about it". We do the same in real life. Even if it is not a very liked thing it does happen.

I can assure that ex post facto is prohibited in the US because of constitution.
2016-01-06 09:33:52
It is in most countries but still in use especially when it comes to tax evasion.
2016-01-06 12:50:43
hard but right decision.

but remember they only banned some scapegoats..

just like with the vacening.. ban some players and the rest gets a yellowcard to not destroy the integry of the scene and risking losing money.

pro will still throw matches... they bet on realmoney sites(friends do it for them) and then just buy skins they want or take the money for a good shopping tour.

not traceable... only could be exposed by the guys doing the betting.. and even then it will be hard for them to prove anything.(when your smart enough as a proplayer to leave no evedince behind)

Deserved. Throwing games, getting profits its BAD behavior. There were no rules written because there were no reason to do it, they were pionieers in this shit and they deserving to be banned forever. Now people won't throw games in case of getting life time bans. Good job Gaben. I gonna buy some skins first time in my life now to support Valve CO. :)

you are so dumb ahaha
so what do you think about virtus pro betting on a match that they won and its already finished to get profit??? permanent ban as well???

It just happens because there is no rule right!? Hey, let's create a rule to prohibit that! Afterall, that's how 'murica works... You guys need a fucking rule to say some basic shit that everybody knows that is wrong.

You might be the dumbest 25 year old on the planet. Are you actually implying that there's a single U.S. State or civilized Country for that matter which doesn't have gun laws in place? Calm your tits, try to speak like a normal person, stop bitching.

It's related because you think people actually need rules to be punished for having the most obvious, absolutely wrong, behaviour. It was implicit.
2016-01-06 11:11:37
We're writing not speaking. Your comments are painstakingly hilarious. Don't ever compare gun laws which have been in place since the inception of this country & school shootings to rules pertaining to match-fixing for digital items again dip-shit. The purpose of law is to preserve freedom and moral agency. It's just as morally wrong to punish someone [indefinitely] without rules being put in place which forbid the behavior and specify the penalties.
2016-01-06 16:31:44
Nobody said they didn't know it was wrong you fucking vine swinging jungletard. It was the way it was handled banning them a year indefinitely and them permabanning them a year after. It was handled badly and cheaters(who also impact match outcomes people gamble on) face far less punishment.

Most of you brazilian faggots are just glad because you don't want to see LG get their asses kicked by IBP.

olofmeister agrees with permanent ban
2016-01-06 00:35:26
nobody is saying it was a good thing to do, but a permanent ban being handed down after keeping them waiting for their sentence after a year is fucking retarded and the only people that thing it is a good thing are people that have something personal against the players themselves or NA in general.

Olof didn't say he agreed with a permanent ban in this clip, but if he did, it would be because less competition means he gets to win majors more easily which is good for him, bad for fans.

Nobody wants to know who is going to win every fucking major before it even starts, it's boring and the more competitive a scene, the better for the fans. 12 yr olds don't understand this concept.
2016-01-06 14:52:23
he said it shouldnt be permanent just now on stream, but he said they should be banned for 1 more year. and added everyone can have a second chance.
2016-01-07 02:56:51
id be fine with that, a lot of stremers now say that valve should've banned them for life just like that, they definately had to ban them temporarily and then make a rule saying that going forward the ban for match fixing will be a lifetime ban... but they shouldnt just come up with a lifetime ban rule on the spot where tehy had no ruels at all...
2016-01-07 03:37:17

These players should sue Valve. It would be one thing if there were rules in place before hand, but to permanently ban them retroactively for fixing a match in a league that had nothing to do with Valve tournaments is just wrong.

Post edited 2016-01-06 00:51:31
2016-01-06 00:51:08
No they cant, its there tournament and can chose who to let in and can for what ever reason ban people, they are under no legal obligation to let them in
2016-01-06 00:59:39
Thats not the arguement.

Valve had no authority to ban for match fixing. Whether it was there tournaments or not. Were not talking about hacking... which is a written and bannable.

There were no rules in place stating the affects of match fixing. So unless Valve has a god clause. And even if they did, it would be very easy to argue ignorance in a lengthy user agreement. The reason for that is there have already been several high profile cases involving the user agreement. In which the defendant (companies) lost. And it only takes one precedent to win a case.

The consumer or user has rights.
2016-01-06 01:11:01
The consumer or user has rights in terms of the product, which they are allowed to use.

Events have nothing to do with rights, if Valve wants to exclude people from a tournament with or without reason they have the right to do so.

The only people who can fight for these players unban is most likely MTG who could force all the event hosters they currently own to let the banned players compete if they qualify. Or the event hosters themselves going against Valve.
2016-01-06 07:54:43
"Events have nothing to do with rights, if Valve wants to exclude people from a tournament with or without reason they have the right to do so."

This is not true. They cannot exclude anyone they want under any condition. They're a business which operates under U.S. law. Hopefully these players unleash their lawyers on them.

Please 'Murica tell me where they have Rights in this case? you do not have a "right" to attend an event, you have no more right to that then to attend a friends party, because they are your friend

Do your own legal research.
2016-01-06 16:46:23
They have not been refused access to the Product they paid for, this is not a breach of rights

This is honestly my last post on hltv because people are so fucking stupid. What does maintaining the ability to play CS:GO have to do with being unlawfully indefinitely banned by Valve? Seriously what the fuck is wrong with people on here? I'm done.
2016-01-06 18:18:11
I was asking why you thought it was unlawful since as far as i can see, it does not break any sort of consumer law or anything related, How about stay less salty and dont call people stupid?
2016-01-06 18:30:36
I actually agree. They are able to prove lost wages. And with no rule in place prior to their match fixing.

Valve doesnt have a leg to stand on. But I also have never read the EULA. There could very well be a clause in it giving them 100% authority in the matter. Able to ban accounts at will. But even then, the players could easily argue they had no idea what they were signing(surprisingly, there are several precedents on this matter).

Morals play no part in a trial. It doesnt matter if they should or should not have thrown.
2016-01-06 01:04:02
It wasn't against the EULA, they all still have their steam accounts.
2016-01-06 05:36:03
That's actually somewhat a good point
2016-01-06 12:17:22
I remember the Italian football scandal in 2006 when a few Italian teams were accused and punished for match-fixing having been in contact with match officials.

The police were involved and there were clear rules in Italy/what ever the Italian football association is called there

The teams were punished and deducted a number of points for the new season, and Juventus was eventually relegated from Serie A to Serie B and additionally deducted 30 points.

In this case we are talking about a shit ton of money Juventus have earned from winning Serie A and thereby also qualifying for the Champions League.

I'm not even sure if anyone was jailed because of this, and Juventus are now doing great in Serie A and internationally as well.

If we compare these two cases, Juventus (according to VALVE's logic) should've been permanently banned from playing in any of the professional/official Italian leagues just like ex-iBP are banned from all VALVE sponsored events.

Fuck VALVE :)

Life-time bans for match-fixing are handed occasionally in sports and e-sports. Italy is knowm for its corruption culture. Those involved in this scandal got off lightly.
2016-01-06 01:06:44
That's true, but I still think that a permanent ban is too much of a punishment for not violating any official rules. And since ex-iBP were the first ones to be caught I think the punishment is kinda insane.

Give them the chance to either pay a fine or get a 1, maybe a 2 year ban - or both.

AFTERWARDS, when the rules are set and clear they can hand out permanent bans if that's what they like the punishment of match-fixing to be.
2016-01-06 01:18:55
n1 valve. now, pls put them in jail too.
2016-01-06 00:52:16
you do realize them stealing those skins is the same as them scamming free runescape items. in the eyes of law at least.

they'd max get a few grands of fine if this was taken to IRL actions
2016-01-06 00:54:22
Well, sad but fair enough. You can't just throw a game on a purpose and play again like nothing happened year later. Yes, it's cruel to the players, but no one would dare to even think about throwing the game now. Good job, Valve, finally...

Statement by: company who lives off of under-aged kids livesavings / moms credit cards. Allows illegal gambling which is the whole reason this scandal happened and why thousands if not hundreds of thousands of kids have been addicted in gambling. Completed investigating this case over 6 months ago, only tells its permanent after a year and literally no communication (like ever in anything). I mean i could go on but im just mad so im gonna stop

Well C9 can have a 6th so they can use swag for CEVO ESEA FACEIT and NA tournaments. If he can play there. Like Flipsid3 with s1mple when they had ESL matches
2016-01-06 00:53:22
valve go fuck your self.
sports athletes receive like 2-3 years ban, and a e-sports player receive a life time ban. wtf
2016-01-06 00:53:23
valve not only that they block them but they runined there life like valve should tell this in the beggining not at very end.

2016-01-06 00:56:04
Good riddance. Now we know and all the kids cant stop praying for them to get unbanned.
People that say Brax is so innocent, please. Same Brax that got DaZed and Steel kicked for Nitr0 and AdreN? He had a choice, he choose to throw and collect the skins. Skadoodle was smart enough to not take the skins for it, but he was also in on it. Just cant be proven.
2016-01-06 00:56:29
So Ska did not get banned just cause he didn't accept to receive the skins... but he clearly accepted to throw the game and haven't even tried to play, didn't pick the awp once that is not a problem?... The other guys are just banned cos they received the skins... I understand this from this decision nice job valve this shows how fair you are! The whole team threw/cheated and 4 out of 5 received skins they got banned and the 1 who didn't accept them got free... Skins are the important thing here I guess! Nice logic!
2016-01-06 00:57:19
If you watch the game he played

you will realize you're wrong
2016-01-07 14:59:58
pretty fucking stupid

they had absolutely no rules against it at the time, and the skins were won from a third party, not directly from valve..

Only the person who actually placed the bet should be banned, not the people who threw, all they did was accept it. so bullshit
2016-01-06 00:57:30
I dont stand with valve but comeone its extremely stupid to say there were no rules against it...
2016-01-06 01:12:07
potentially ruining someones career for losing purposely for skins from a third party is kind of over the top for something that didnt have a rule.

its obvious there wouldve been punishments, but perm? bruh
2016-01-06 01:13:13
Professional sports have rules against this t ype of shit but they HAVE rules. Valve doesn't implement rules or anything until something happens multiple times. Just look skins being stolen and hacked and never returned on a daily basis? Took them 2 fucking years to actually implement a system that had a better chance of protecting you from potential hackers on your account.
2016-01-06 01:32:08

Ban this fucking retard of poland.

2016-01-06 01:04:58
You can kinda tell what type of people supports this ban by looking at his comment. People who have something PERSONAL against these players. A lot of other people are irritated at the way the whole situation has been HANDLED by Valve. Two very different things.

Most people who are glad the ban happened have something personal against the players and that's true. That's already a biased reason to why they should be banned permanently.

2016-01-06 01:02:17
This is incredibly unfair. This really has changed my opinion of Valve and their professionalism.
2016-01-06 01:04:25
Like HenryG said, you literally get less time for murder.
2016-01-06 01:07:06
...you get less time in jail, they're banned from playing a video game.

If you can't see the difference then I feel bad for you.
2016-01-06 05:41:37
Only if HenryG studied philosophy or just thought a bit before saying anything

cheating in a pro game with such manners as IBP did is basically killing the professional game so theoretically it was a murder whose casuality primarly was the professional game directly and indirectly the bettors, the community

so boi no wonder it's a lifetime ban
2016-01-06 13:08:02
Just look at how they manage (of what is supposed to be the best tournaments) their 'Majors'.
Or the 80% of the updates content that is slowly killing the competitive side of the game.
That's Valve for you ..
2016-01-06 01:21:38
How is this unfair?

2016-01-06 01:10:22
I dont know. a part of me says its good but the other part says this is not right because there are 100% other teams out there who DID throw matches for skins. and im pretty sure Virtus.pro and that TAZ scumbag are one of those
2016-01-06 01:10:57
RiP :(
2016-01-06 01:11:15
Feel bad for swag, but so happy those ass-nuggets, Dazed and Steel, are perma-banned from Valve events.
2016-01-06 01:11:44
yeah, because swag is a fckin angel and he didn't deserve it.
2016-01-06 01:25:31
He is deserving as the rest, but he doesn't act like a massive ass clown like steel/dazed.

I wouldn't mind if swag was unbanned, but I am happy neither of those 2 will ever play at a valve event :]

2016-01-06 01:19:29
Good thing you dont and probably will never run a business.

There does have to be rules.

The fact you dont understand that, tells me enough.
2016-01-06 01:36:40

2016-01-06 01:39:41
Seems you do due to the fact that you brought it up in the first place fucktard.
2016-01-06 01:58:46
I cri now D'x They may have match fixed but I'm beyond giving a fuck, they are amazingly talented players and the NA CSGO scene will continue being seriously deprived. IBP was the best team in NA for a reason.
2016-01-06 01:19:42
Valve should unban all these players

and ban perma from now or ban all the other players

who bet their own matches
2016-01-06 01:20:02
I think they don't deserve this, RIP NA dreams :\
2016-01-06 01:20:18
Great decision valve.

2016-01-06 01:21:49

nice volvo
2016-01-06 01:22:04
Well it a good precedence. I only hope they dont limit it to the high visibility tourneys cos then its not going to have any impact.
2016-01-06 01:22:51
Agree with the ex-iBP bans, this was a real organisation behind it and so much money involved, does it mean same sentence for the others? Cause honestly i don't think you can compare the ex-iBP organisation and the others. Even if they should never done that ofc and i'll never agree with this kind of mentality but you have to think you are potentially cutting a career with everything behind that (life, money, future etc...) -Shox's Tweet
2016-01-06 01:23:09
The 1 year ban was enough and now that they have rules in place, perma-bans should start from then on. Valve just can't say that they'll ban you permanently when there were no rules in place about it.
2016-01-06 01:28:08
I mean ex-IBP players should still know that throwing a game for skins is still going to get them banned regardless.Half of them were young adults (except swag) so they should of made the right decision but they didn't, sucks for them but they deserved it.
2016-01-06 01:29:53
Doesn't matter. Valve didn't make a huge deal and implement anything when a bunch of EU teams threw. One NA team threw, all of a sudden Valve can't tolerate these actions anymore? That's very biased that it took an NA team throwing for skins for Valve to even implement this.
2016-01-06 02:44:39
2016-01-06 01:23:13
I wasnt watching hltv and betting scene that VP throw thing so closely, but now im disgusted i thought pasha is a honest man? Just proves about man in general if you had the chance would you take it to get skins?
2016-01-06 01:23:52

2016-01-06 01:27:20
The fact is that some make an income through betting on cs go. Losing a game like the ibp one where they have put a high bet can ruin them literally in real life.
2016-01-06 01:28:02
2016-01-06 01:29:32
Wow, you're first 'murican that is not being biased, out of everybody commenting here
2016-01-06 01:44:34
and you are one of those brazilian fagbois who wants ibp to be banned so they cant rekt lg
2016-01-06 05:46:16
I don't care about their nationality, I'm happy that the ban applies to ex-Epsilon players too, I hate cheaters and people that throw.

The annoying thing is that 95% of the Americans want these scum to be allowed to play again, when you compare to non-americans the numbers are waaaay different, bias as fuck.

But I understand why you guys are crying so much, these four players were the last hope to see an american team doing good again, now the NA CS is fucked for good.
2016-01-06 08:47:27
Actually there are a ton of non-americans that want them unbanned, it just so happens that just about every bronzilian doesn't, and it's blatantly obvious you just fear they would beat the shit out of LG if they were unbanned. Typical faggotry, badly played.
2016-01-06 14:41:56

2016-01-06 01:34:16
2016-01-06 01:34:21
In a serious note, VALVE makes shit ton of money every day... They make in 10 minutes how much iBP stole. I know that is big difference between stealing and making money, but imo perma ban is 2 much, and if they gave back the money, 1 year ban is fine.
2016-01-06 01:35:05
yeah, a fine + 1 (or 2 max) year ban would be fine. But Valve does this because they cant be bothered to actively investigate throws so they just do it medieval style: hang the one thief you accidently caught in the act and hope it deters others (it doesnt).

valve was probably being pressured by all betting sites, can't blame them. Is it fair? no, but what is anyway.

they cheated and got people to lose a lot of money. vac'ed cheaters should also not be unbanned ever, they ruined games for people and are just mentally sick. I honestly hope all cheaters die slowly and have a painful death for ruining the game for me and others.

2016-01-06 01:42:41
It is the greediness of the people and not the skins...

2016-01-06 02:03:31
Disgusting having missed the best year of csgo with the largest prize pools is a big punishment already.... it might be their game but they dont have the right to take players careers away.
2016-01-06 01:44:45
Valve didn't... the players themselves did.

1 - They were dumb to come out with the idea
2 - They were dumb enough to accept the idea
3 - They were dumb again to let it leak

betting on your own win should never be illegal. Only betting on your own loss.
2016-01-06 01:45:01
Well that's what happened ? They bet on their loss.
2016-01-06 01:50:41
"While bans can be disruptive and painful to some members of the community, they are sometimes necessary."
Well, tbh they deserve it, 10,000$ is not a little number, only the people who lost money on that match will feel the pain and valve understands their pain, so they got banned forever.

so in the end swags worst decision was to join IBP

2016-01-06 01:48:48
no? his worst decision was throwing the fking game skadoodle didnt skadoodle isnt banned
2016-01-06 07:25:51
skadoodle did throw just as much as everyone else, a lucky coincidence happened and he didnt recieve skins in time after when all the fuss was starting to spread and he didnt take them in the end.

2016-01-06 10:07:31
Swag is just as much guilty as the others. He deserves same punishment, but I think 1 year was enough
2016-01-06 20:44:21
10,000 dollars worth of skins lost on that match and let's say everyone max betted. thats only 41.66666 people that max bet and also considering the percentages on IBP you either had to max bet your inventory or you won't get nothing people who lost their skins probably didn't even lose that much as they claim to have lost.
2016-01-06 01:50:16

why lol? the point isn't wrong, they just happen to be banned still.

logic doesn't seem to be your strong suit.
2016-01-06 02:08:13
It's matchfixing, they're not retarded, do you think that in boxing they have the rule that says 'DO NOT MATCHFIX, IT'S NOT NICE'?

Everyone knows it's wrong, they knew it themselves, nobody should give a shit whether there was a rule or not, they just didn't expect to get caught and would have probably done it again if they weren't.

There are some things that don't need the rules for people to understand it's bottomline wrong. Yes, sure, now they can act like it was a mistake of their life, but that's exactly how life is, you have to pay for the mistakes you make, they lacked honor and integrity and stole from many people that believed in them. I like steel, I like swag, but goddamn if this ban is not deserved.

"While bans can be disruptive and painful to some members of the community, they are sometimes necessary."

How is this fucking necessary. There were NO rules regarding this. Get your brains straight shitty Volvo.

the same brain that thinks r8 revolover is a good idea
2016-01-06 05:13:55
daily reminder that VP did basically the same thing, got caught, and still got away with it

daily reminder that a player did this in dota2, threw for skins on the CSGL's sister site, and was still allowed to participate in the last TI and the Frankfurt Major, both of them Valve organized events

here's the dota player in question:

Jesus christ, it's matchfixing, they're not 10 year olds, they know the reality, in every sport sth like that ends with a ban for life, whether there are rules or not.

Fuck this, they are not compromising any fucking integrity of the scene and the only reason they did this was insurance. In this case the insurance cost them nothing besides a few people flaming and the careers of people apparently they deem "expensable". I am sorry for being that flamer but seriously, poor decision, nah fucking idiotic decision.
2016-01-06 02:57:04
Great job not banning the t3 teams.
2016-01-06 02:57:13
it was good job. after this t1-2team dont do this.. no throwerinho!
2016-01-06 03:00:35
If they really stand by banning them forever I hope Valve doesn't cockblock them from playing in the turner league, faceit, esea, etc.
2016-01-06 03:03:30
sweet sweet justice
2016-01-06 03:03:44
So you guys are saying that is fair gets almost 10,000 $ in match-fixing and take just 1 year ban, and then they can normally continues in the tournaments getting more money? There's a lot to be explained...
2016-01-06 03:06:37
Well done Valve. I support you. :)
2016-01-06 03:12:33
Valve is right BTW.
They banned alot of dota 2 players too, players like this cannot be called as "professionals".

And who cares anyways, dazed and steel are more toxic than chernobyl, they wont last more than 3 months on a team. lol
2016-01-06 03:15:26
they banned 10 players 1 year ago, and no new cheaters? no way? btw good decision :D search cheaters every month, not once in 5 years
2016-01-06 03:17:36
well done
2016-01-06 03:19:30
2016-01-06 03:21:27

2016-01-06 03:22:23
2016-01-06 03:29:29
GJ valve. Not doing the easiest non cost effective thing the majority of the community wants from you. Burning the bridges of players during the early stages of the game's development. No one had any clue that it would become as big as this. This wont stop the match fixing it will just make it more secretive. Valve once again you fix nothing you just sweep it under the rug.
2016-01-06 03:22:41
Good job Valve!
2016-01-06 03:25:33
FUCKKKKK, FUCKKKKKK, FUCK THIS SHIT, who cares if they threw now, its been a year, almost everyone is over it, no one even gives a shit, also so many people want them unbannned. if valve is reading this, plz unban them, no one cares about ur INTEGRITY.
2016-01-06 03:27:57
lack of giving a shit is why matches get fixed, and cheats are allowed to continue cheating..
2016-01-06 03:35:19
Exactly that, people don't understand that the attitude they have towards the case is the bottomline reason we have matchfixing, cheating etc. in the game. Because they don't give a shit.
2016-01-06 10:52:51
Good job valve. Lost 240 max bet in this game

Fanfucktard logic...

Dazed, Swag, AZK, Steel... scummed people, and paid for it..

2016-01-06 03:37:59
it's called 2nd chances, athletes take steroids all the time and when caught they aren't banned for life, you temporary ban and draw a line, if they didn't learn their lesson and cross that line then they will never learn so you perma ban but these are kids we're talking about and when you put money and gambling into your game then expect this. They're definitely not the only ones to throw games trust me, all these teams have.
2016-01-06 05:22:27
steroids is more like hacking, which generally never lands you a lifetime ban. Real life athletes get fucking permarekt for matchfixing as well.

2016-01-06 05:57:08
Making a scapegoat of people who didn't break any Valve rules (only rules of moral, if you can day that), is really fucking strange for me.

I mean fair enough if they'd have a set of rules, but in the end they only took afvantage of a situation that CSGOLOUNGE made possible.

Tbh I feel like a one year would be more than enough, they can't really just throw around retrospective rules ending up in death sentences for them. That seems a little stupid to me.

Post edited 2016-01-06 04:28:37
2016-01-06 04:27:15
it has nothing to do with morals or rules. It is for money as the primary reason and secondary as a PR move. These skin sites cut out valve of their percentage of selling skins on market and PR move as it saves face if it is ever uncovered and makes valve look like a responsible company. They don't care, no fortune 500 company cares about morals, they can't or they would lose revenue for morals and that is how you get less profit so shareholders get mad and you get fired and replaced by someone who puts profits at the #1
2016-01-06 04:39:58
If anything Valve should be applauding the throw, as it took away skins, so people had to rebuy on market then.

I honestly do not think investors give two shits about iBP players being banned, which makes it stupid to me. Having more toptier players in NA means a better shot at events in EU, thus getting more exposure in NA. To me Valve should have interests in getting iBP back out there.

More than a year ban also seems retarded to me. LoL has a 1 year ban policy, and CSGO players make more than LoL players do in a year (from the gameproviders side at least), why punish csgo players harder?
2016-01-06 06:09:05
If I remember correct something similar happend on the dota 2 scene (also valve game) Rox.Kis - Solo betted against his own team and won 322$ worth. He was sentenced to a lifetime ban but was later changed to a 1 year ban.

It was Starladder who gave Solo the ban. So valve actually took no action in this matchfixing/throw case.

Post edited 2016-01-07 08:23:03
2016-01-07 08:21:24
Exactly. Already back then they shouldve taken action, shouldve made rules regarding the topic, yet they didnt. For me a one year ban is more than enough of a punishment, and if you were to draw paralels to other games, that would confirm it as well.

It seems stupid and broken that iBP players and epsilon players ends up with a LIFETIME ban for something that has no specific rules to it. If I was Valve I'd say "this time It's one year as we had no other rulings in place before. Next time anyone does it within Valve framework its lifetime."
2016-01-07 08:37:05
I totaly agree and not because I care about any of the players in particularly.
2016-01-07 14:58:25
Same, I just think its retarded
2016-01-07 17:02:18
Yet another reason why skins destroyed the game, this is such a sad day for CS. Sure they did wrong but its just an easy way out for them, they have the shittiest anticheat going yet jump on their high horse when it comes to matters like this makes me fucking laugh. Tbh all top teams should boycott valve majors and see what happens, im sure theres other companys out there willing to take the mantle from them.
2016-01-06 04:42:38
Problem is tho, that without skins, CSgo would barely be a game the casual person knew of.

Blaming skins and betting for this doesn't make sense since its the main reason to why CS is as big as it is today, wouldn't be anywhere close without it
2016-01-06 07:07:40
People argue that point but i dont see it that way, sure it gave it a kick up the ass , but it would of got to that point if the game merited it with being a solid FPS game. To assume it wouldnt of got this far without skins says the game sucks and its all about cosmetics which is kind of my point and many others... if the game is that good it shouldnt need 'skins' to become successful. And this is a prime example of the badside of skins and betting! get rid of them both we dont need it here
2016-01-06 11:14:36
Well that's the thing about cs, it's not that interesting to just watch(Except major finals etc), why would the casual person be interested?

"If the game is that good it shouldnt need skins"

CS aint that good of a game, it's big due to what it brought to betting and skins.

1.6 and even source was A MUCH better game competitively-wise than CS:GO is, and it wasn't at all as big as CS::GO, and it was because betting and skins didnt exist back then.
2016-01-07 04:48:42
I'm very sad. This is so unfair. I really thought they would get unbanned soon.
2016-01-06 04:47:39
fuckin idiots valve... Just fkn unbann them so we get a better scene..
2016-01-06 04:56:03
It is 50/50 Valve are trying to make a statement and ex-iBP put them in a difficult situation, you cant please everyone. It is a loss to the NA scene though.
2016-01-06 05:09:36
Ska got away w/e
2016-01-06 05:14:30
Thats it lock them up and throw away the key. No chance of redemption. How fair, oh wait.
2016-01-06 05:14:38
they should seriously unban past players and implement this now. What were they expecting when they put skins and gambling into this game? these are kids we're talking about who don't think about the actions they make but you've showed what you can do and how you can ruin their cs career so it's time for 2nd chances and now players know where you stand.
2016-01-06 05:16:42
When you play a professional sport, there is also real money involved. These guys decided to fix their match for thousands of dollars worth of skins, to sell them for real money. I remember steel saying he earned some extra money from something he couldnt talk about on stream. It was not about the skins and it was not only about that 1 match.
2016-01-06 05:26:10
pro athletes take steroids which is illegal as well and still don't get perma banned, once they repeat the offense then a perma ban can be implemented but i think valves point has come across and i think it's time to let these kids who messed up take the punishment they deserved and now give them a chance to fullfill their dreams again the right way.
2016-01-06 07:34:50
RIP. Kinda wanted to see DaZeD, steel, Brax&co playing again.

Valve talking about how they don't support people exploiting fans of CS:GO that's cute coming from them.
2016-01-06 05:40:04
no you don't see it correctly valve got the monopoly so they really want 2 keep that. it's the same when you try take money from taxes then you are really screwed because they have all the power to get there money is it not left or the right way then you got there way.

2016-01-06 05:55:31
Valve works so hard to prove over and over what a fucking joke they are.

Lifetime ban for fucking skins. Lifetime ban for something that was never an official rule.

What a fucking joke.
2016-01-06 05:55:32

2016-01-06 06:08:55
Scumbags get what they deserve. Good job Valve!
2016-01-06 06:16:19
plz bitch I dont even like these guys but they ain't fucking pete rose. One game. Valve needed a year to think about cuz theyre faggots who dont know what the fuck to do.
2016-01-06 06:26:28
Who compared them to Pete Rose or fucking Richard Kuklinski? You delusional punks don't get it. Valve is a business and these idiots were playing with the money of a business enterprise. You think they'll let anyone get away with that? These young streaming motherfuckers can be taken to court for Fraud with possible jail time. Let's see the odds of Valve winning the case!

If they took a year to make this decision because they didn't have the balls, it's STILL THEIR GAME and they'll do whatever the fuck they wanna do. Doesn't change the fact that a bunch of faggots and their faggot fanboys wanna sweep their shit under the rug.
2016-01-06 06:44:30
I'm not arguing that steel and dazed are shitheads, they are, case closed. AZK and swag im indifferent on but thats not what matters. So valve lifetime bans the first team ever caught throwing for skins after waiting a year because they had no set of guidelines. They should and could have tried to replace what the stole while being punished between 1-3 years. This is about 1 thing and 1 thing only, justice for people who lost skins? I think not. Valve is a fucking whore.

2016-01-06 07:20:14
You're asking a business to do the right thing. What do you realistically expect?

iBP players became a business liability. From corporate offices to drug cartels, a business liability is taken care of the same way - it gets weeded out.

Now, Valve is fucking dumb about a lot of things and they don't communicate much. We all know that already. But don't fool yourself into believing that Valve is obligated to respond on the matter sooner to give the community or iBP players some closure. They don't owe anyone jackshit. They don't wanna be douches either so yeah, a bit of a public image is necessary to uphold.

Call them what you want - whores, faggots, etc. Still, you can clearly tell it was a business decision and they took a whole year to calm things down, downplay the whole shit and then come out with a verdict.

2016-01-06 15:15:45
Well to me online gambling in all forms should be illegal if the attorney general deems online poker to be illegal then how can skin gambling and sites like draft kings be allowed to operate.
So my feeling is that valve is already well below the bar in terms of morals when they can and do shut down some bots and trade ban them while others operate freely. This can only be due to them receiving a portion of the proceeds and it borders on extortion, wouldn't you say?

Let's be honest, this is gambling done primarily by children and is a completely unsanctioned form that some people were willing to try and deceive. Again these were times when valve made no statement about skin gambling and was actually banning bots and shutting down sites as such. Then they decided to make rules.

The one piece of justice to come from this would be a law against it in all forms just as has been the case with absolute poker etc. Let the skins market bottom out and make valve understand that there is no place for underage gambling in gaming.

Make no doubt steam has skimmed more money from more children due to this than all the games ever thrown by teams. And do not think this is anything more then a warning to other teams that they had better entertain all conversations of throwing over the phone rather than over stream messenger. And that's all it's done, prevent it from happening? Absolutely not.
2016-01-07 00:15:54
Didn't SirScoots report CSGOLounge to the FBI recently? I say fuck em all. You can find the flak/praises he got on his twitter timeline but I'm all for laws here. I say shut down all these pathetic gambling shit sites that have made people deviate from the actual game. The DDoS attacks on Dota 2 and CSGO players are related to this gambling too.

Valve can easily pull the plug on the usage of its API that these sites use and blacklist them. I seriously dunno wtf they're waiting for.
2016-01-07 08:59:09
They're waiting for it to not make them money ofc like you said, its a business. As if the whole thing is more legit now that they banned iBP, it's laughable.
What should have happened is that the sites banned the players, valve banned the bots from the sites, and contacted the members of the team for mediated punishment.

I think we may agree here that both parties are the scumbags, but only ibp got theirs.

fnatic and envy cheating their asses off and they dont give a flying fuck but now theyre going nuts about some fucking match-fixing..

There is so much wrong with this comment. You are implying that match-fixing isnt a big deal, it is just as bad if not worse than hacking because it is essentially stealing which ex-iBP knew, I am not defending valve's decision but it is definitely justified. And making false accusations that nV and fnatic are "cheating their asses off" proves you have no idea what you are talking about. They are professional players, they are 100x better than anyone on this forum, it is their job to be the best it doesnt mean they are hacking.
