CPH Games with €30,000 purse
Time: 2016-02-14 23:00
Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Copenhagen Games' male CS:GO tournament will pay out €30,000 to the competing teams, the organisers of the event have told HLTV.org.

This means that there has been an increase of €4,000 in the prize money on offer at the Danish event when compared to the latest two editions, with the winner now taking home €17,000 instead of €14,000.

The 2016 edition of Copenhagen Games, one of the oldest and most prestigious gaming events in the Nordic region, will take place from March 23-26 inside the Øksnehallen exhibition centre.

dignitas receive first invite to CPH Games

This year's main CS:GO tournament will feature just 16 teams - half as many as it had last year, when Virtus.pro were crowned champions. Eight teams will be directly invited by the event's organisers, while the remaining eight sides will come from the on-site qualifier, open to 64 teams.

Only three days separate Copenhagen Games from MLG Columbus, so the organisers of the Danish tournament will not be issuing invites until after the offline qualifier for the major, later this month. Still, HLTV.org has learned that dignitas have already been invited as they have agreed to attend Copenhagen Games even if they secure a spot in the $250,000 competition.

Below is the complete prize distribution for Copenhagen Games:

1. €17,000
2. €8,000
3. €3,500
4. €1,500

Meanwhile, Copenhagen Games' organisers have confirmed that a total of €7,000 has been allocated to the women's tournament, with the prize breakdown looking as follows:

1. €3,600
2. €1,700
3. €1,000
4. €700

he's right doe... prize pool is shit compared to other events.

still a great lan - one of the only BYOC tournaments left which hltv covers
2016-02-15 00:57:07
I don't think we will see any big teams this time around, most orgs have already abandoned CPH Games due to poor management, also the prize pool is not competitive any more in 2016.
2016-02-14 23:07:10
its been the same shit since 2013. noone will even bother to show up and the event is gonna be completely irrelevant.

2016-02-14 23:07:53
+1. Disappointing that they've halved the number of teams

I know, what I'm saying is that why the hell would they rather attend this event than a major
2016-02-14 23:28:58
They're attending both. The problem is the 3 days that separate the two. Jetlag is going to be a bitch.
2016-02-14 23:54:48
Oh of course, RIP my understanding of Englando.

Yeah, not going to be easy for them
2016-02-14 23:58:49
pretty much they know that probably wont make that much money in the major, beside them sticker money, so they rather attend a smaller event wich they will probably win
2016-02-14 23:25:45
not rather attend but rather focus on the samller event, they know its a very small chance to get out of groups
2016-02-14 23:26:34
Dignitas will attend even tho it's possible they're playing the MLG columbus which is only 3 days away from the cph games event
2016-02-15 00:05:31
as if they can 100% qualify for it
2016-02-15 09:43:10
ez SK
2016-02-14 23:24:20
Meh, the 32-teams format was what made this tournament so fun to watch, lots of new teams to check out.
2016-02-14 23:24:25
tournaments like cph games should take the initiative and set up real AC to get teams like dignitas out of the scene

2016-02-14 23:26:09
are you seriously still on that gameref bandwagon?

read this

and you know it wont work.
2016-02-14 23:31:19
really interessting, but i doubt this anti cheat works when the cheat is loaded by the SDK and not by the hardware.

PS : a steam OS would be much more efficient for those no-byoc tournament

No it wouldn't, SteamOS(built on Linux) is as easy to use cheats on as Windows, MacOS etc. It's just not that well documented. If that's what it takes to cheat on LAN, developers would adjust.
2016-02-15 16:59:44
Erf ok, but developers can't adjust shit if players use offline accounts, hardware checked, and a special account to connect when players get on stage.

what do you think ?
2016-02-15 20:05:34
Developers are problem solvers. For all we know they could have MicroSD readers(those small memory cards used in phones)hidden on the keyboard etc. The opportunities are endless.
2016-02-16 17:16:10

even apm II had bigger prizepool
2016-02-14 23:31:19
cph games are never gonna be a "big tournament" because they don't have many big investors, it's more like big open BYOC event where everybody can participate, good or bad. think of it as like a minor where newcomers or lesser known people can prove themselves.
2016-02-14 23:33:04
yeah I know

2016-02-15 00:53:15
Why sadly?

There needs to be tournament for up and coming players to prove themselves.
2016-02-15 09:17:36
Yeah i saw tsm vs VP last year there atthe finals on stage.
2016-02-15 17:39:11
would love to see more open, cpl-like tourneys with lots of teams in a big bracket
2016-02-14 23:33:25

2016-02-15 06:21:03
low tier tournament.
2016-02-15 06:29:31
Can someone tell me why the women aren't playing in the male tournament? I am not trying to create a conflict I just don't understand why the genders are sepparated when they are all just nerds playing videogames.?
2016-02-15 09:01:51
Sort of simple.

The female scene isn't really comparable with the male scene. Skill levels are lower and the reason for that depends on who you ask.

Either way a female team wouldn't really stand a chance, but female teams have their own fans and female tournament brings in viewers that might not look otherwise.

TL;DR: It brings in money.
