stanislaw: "IGLs sacrifice too much"
Time: 2016-12-11 23:10
Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

OpTic continued their strong run of form by defeating EnVyUs 2-0 in the semi-final of ECS. Following the match, OpTic's IGL Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz talked to HLTV.org to share his thoughts on the match, Nuke and his high stats for an in-game leader.

The ELEAGUE Season 2 champions OpTic got another best-of-three victory over solid European opposition, eliminating EnVyUs in the first semi-final of the day at ECS.

Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz took a couple of minutes to answer our questions about the team and how legit their ELEAGUE run was.

I think we finally proved that we are not underdogs any more, that people need to start taking us seriously or we are going to beat you. Making the finals already is a huge statement, but we still want to win it all and prove everyone around. It feels good.

Let's start with the first map here, Overpass. You played EnVyUs on the same map at ELEAGUE and it was the same score in the end. Did you feel like they changed anything, why couldn't they do any better than 16-3?

I think they are in kind of a same situation as us, where they are travelling non-stop and don't have time to prepare for anything. We know from doing our research that they don't play Train or Overpass, we can pick whatever we want and it ended up being Overpass. We knew it was going to be the same score today because they didn't have any time to prepare.

NAF yesterday said that you are not that confident on Nuke, are you feeling any better now?

We haven't really played it too much. The more practice we get, the better we are going to get on it. We are a little bit prepared, we have strats and all that but beating EnVyUs was pretty big for us because I think at Northern Arena they destroyed us on Nuke, and it was tough to lose to FaZe in overtime on Nuke as well.

We talked about our T side because that is our main problem, our CT side is pretty solid, but it's going to be better the more we play it. I think we are OK on Nuke now.

Do you have any general thoughts on Nuke, do you think it is at a good place now? Did you see any of the changes?

Nah, I hate the map. Nuke is honestly the worst map in the game for me. In CS 1.6 I used to love Nuke but not in this game. I haven't seen the changes yet, but I've heard you can blow up the squeaky door, so after playing the new version we'll see how we feel. It's too early to say.

stanislaw is not fond of the CS:GO version of Nuke

Statistically speaking things are pretty balanced in your team and you are pretty high up there among in-game leaders. What do you think is the difference between you and some other players?

I feel that other in-game leaders sacrifice a little too much. They worry about everyone else's play and worry so much about the team, but I try my best to focus on myself more because I'd rather be at my best than just be a detriment to the team and not contribute enough. I try to work on my skill as much as, or equally as much as the team in terms of strats.

So you think it's more of a preparation thing than an in-game thing that lowers their in-game potential?

Yeah, you still have to deathmatch and make sure your aim is cr
isp all though you are watching demos and making strats.

You are in the finals again, it's going to be either Astralis or SK. After ELEAGUE a lot of people were talking about it not being a legit run because you had an easier bracket. Do you feel like this is now you setting the record straight, that it was legit, or do you feel like you need to win again?

I think we finally proved that we are not underdogs any more, that people need to start taking us seriously or we are going to beat them. Making the finals already is a huge statement, but we still want to win it all and prove everyone around. It feels good.

Stewie and shox makes calls of their plays on the map so u camt really compare them to other igls who are more in dept
2016-12-12 06:56:17
Happy I'll give you
shox (occasional, has peeks but plays average almost all of the rest of the time)
dennis is alright
glaive is alright
snax/neo aren't in game leading
stewie has taken a huge performance hit since assuming role of IGL

TL;DR

None of these IGLs other than happy in the ldlc peek have fragged as well as fallen has, and none of them have even come close to playing at his level and consistency
2016-12-12 08:12:01
Snax and neo lead ingame every alternate month,vp doesnt have 1 igl for more than a few months.

2016-12-11 23:11:07
Did you read the article? They are saying his stats are very high for an in game leader. Remember bud: read first, comment second.
2016-12-12 00:31:24
look at his flag then try again later
2016-12-12 00:38:48
Yeah but the Canadian did the same thing. Its not his country, its the bottom of the hltv gene pool that is the problem. Oh well, plenty of cool people left! Go Optic!

2016-12-11 23:25:50

2016-12-11 23:35:05

shut up stanislaw you suck
2016-12-11 23:10:56
xD
2016-12-11 23:26:07
so much truth in this, and then igl's get the shit on their face.. but try telling this to "fraggers" who show up to the server.. in perfect scenario it should be a team effort, igl is IN GAME leader, the strats and new ideas should come from everyone, and then the igl brings all that together.
2016-12-11 23:21:26
+1
2016-12-11 23:29:56
exactly! a team should work together to make strats and exchange ideas, not just 1 guy being responsible for it. an igl should solely responsible for coordinating.
2016-12-11 23:33:40
True i think IGLs have an excuse to not be as amazing as star players or the best framers but they shouldn't be bots. Stan rarely top frags but he never is always on the bottom or way below his team.
2016-12-12 00:26:28
yeh, IGL have to do all teh dirty work. I think its a worrying trend that every other person on a team thinks they don't have to do shit.

The IGL is like a high school teacher prepping teens for their final exams. Students get spoonfed the answers, all they gotta do is memorize.

NA is in a weird transition period, in EU the overall tactical experience of players is higher. NA has a shit ton of 1 year wonderkids in the invite ranks that can frag like beasts.

EU has a higher IQ, there aren't as many passenger fraggers.
2016-12-13 03:37:52
Yeah, even tho this problem has always existed, I think that trend has a lot to do with how matchmaking has changed the way of playing and training players.

In past it was groups of friends fighting against others, now its easier to just solo and play for yourself. Instead of thinking about winning, its more about your frags, cuz you cant force others to play as team. In every game teams making same mistakes, never taking the next step trying to solve the problems, what is actually the idea of the game(for me atleast).

= Easier to get in, harder to get further without communities like before.
2016-12-13 18:03:10
stan has played well ever since they were conquest. gl optic hope this form continues.
2016-12-11 23:30:51
finally after so many years. a respectable NA team
2016-12-11 23:39:25
