TaZ: "We feel in good shape"
By: MIRAA

Event: IEM4 World Championship

We sat down with Frag eXecutors veteran Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas just one day before the Extreme Masters IV World Championship Finals kickoff, and questioned him about the upcoming tournament.

The two-time ESWC and WCG champions have been placed in Group A following the late dropout of Taiwanese side UMX, having to take on fnatic, mouseports and mTw in the opening phase.

Frag eXecutors' last LAN appearance came during the European Championship Finals, where they failed to impress, crashing out of the tournament at the group stage with just two victories.

In this exclusive interview with HLTV.org, Wojtas comments on his side's chances in Hannover, their move to Frag eXecutors and also the removal of Lukasz "LUq" Wnek, among other topics.

When did you learn that your team would get the last spot at the Extreme Masters World Championship Finals?

We got contacted by ESL on Thursday, saying that no other team from Asia could go to the Globals and asked if we wanted to go in place of UMX. It was a straight yes.

How has your team been practicing for the competition?

We've been practicing for the World Finals for three days now, I mean we had been practicing all the time since our last flop at European Finals, but we didn't have the mind set on attending a big tournament any soon. It was a nice suprise.

Do you think that such short notice will affect your team's form at the tournament?

I hope not. We feel like we are in good shape, at least a lot better than during the European finals... so with a bit of luck we might do some nice damage in our group. Things will come down to form durring 02.03.2010... one day will decide who's in and who's out, not a dream scenario, but if you want to redeem yourself you need to face it and hit it hard.

You have been placed in Group A, along with fnatic, mTw, mousesports, oXmoze and Evil Geniuses in what is arguably the group of death. What is your opinion about the teams you will meet?

Each team has equal chances of advancing to the next stage. On the other hand it feels good to have such good teams in our group, because you stay equally motivated, and you are not letting in your mind toughts that some teams are better or worse.. five games of the highest level is what we expect, how hard it will be will only depend on us.

What are your team's goals for this tournament?

Redemption.

At the Extreme Masters European Finals, your team placed fifth in the group with just two victories and three defeats. In your opinion what caused such a disappointing campaign?

Last-minute message that we would attend, line-up changes and little practice. We also played pretty bad individually, at least I did, so this time I am three times more motivated than during our last tornament. I'm just hoping that we will show better CS this time around and show some good games.

You and your team mates have been announced as part of a project called Guns Are Drawn. Can you shed some light on what this project is about?

The Guns Are Drawn project is targeted at young players and teams, we will try to help them evolve, but if it's global or only for polish players, that we will have to wait and see.

There has been no comments from your team on LUq's removal from the line-up. Why did you decide to cut ties with him after playing alongside him for several years?

After so many years playing with the same line-up we felt like we were in some kind of bad marriage, and we just had to have a divorce. Lukas had a big impact on many of our games, but we felt that we needed some more stability and new blood in our team.

What are your thoughts on pasha's involvement in the team so far?

Pasha has great talent and he has yet to show his highest level of play, it will take time for him to gain some experience and stop worrying about getting cut, but that's a natural process and we hope that it won't affect our game at the World Finals. I think that if Pasha does not think about anything else but his game, he will show some great games.

Earlier this month, your team joined Frag eXecutors after months without an organisation. What is your opinion on FX and what made you accept their offer?

I think that the main factor were the people in FX and that the organization is from Poland. After few meetings with management from Frag eXecutors we saw how big fans of esports they are, and that they are very professional. We just hope that we can make a good name for this organization by showing good results.

Do you think it is safe to say that the worst is finally over?

I won't say it :P, because you never know what can struck you in life.. We just hope that our "bad luck" era has come to an end, and that we will finally be able to show our potential with full bright.

The ESWC recently announced its return under a new management. With your team having yet to receive the prize money from the last event, which you won, what are your feelings on this announcement?

It's just sad that they are annoucing a new edition, and are not paying out any of the owed prize money, it will definetly hurt the ESWC, prestige-wise.. but I still think that many teams will attend it because esports need tournaments. Maybe somewhere deep inside I hope that we will get some kind of reimbursment from new ESWC owners, but time will tell how surreal this is.

HLTV.org will be in Hannover providing on-site coverage of the tournament, so stay locked to our website for all the latest info on the Extreme Masters IV World Championshipa Finals.

2010-03-01 12:41:37
I dont get it :)
2010-03-01 12:53:23
no one those :)
2010-03-01 14:09:06
does* :)
2010-03-01 14:38:03
hahaha fail!
2010-03-01 15:05:59
ye...I win :D
2010-03-01 15:20:05
have won*
2010-03-01 16:35:52
only 'won'
2010-03-01 18:50:23
Wrong. Thats like saying "You fail" is incorrect when its not ;) You can say both. I win or I won.
2010-03-01 18:59:09
yap...I win is like an expression..You can use both, so both of you FAILED, and I WON :D get it now? :D :P
2010-03-01 19:04:48
And why exactly are you replying to me ...?
2010-03-01 20:06:50
Sorry dude, but gramatically "I won" seems to be correct only. On the other hand, uneducated and simplicity-likeable Americans will tell that it is correct... Like you :) No hard feelings, but I study your language and I'm just a lot smarter than you in this case even if you're native :)
2010-03-01 23:14:34
ffs, "I WIN" is just an expression we use...I wasn't born in England or USA but believe me when I say that I know a lot about english for an outsider :/ ... and I'm only 15... And I do believe that you know something about english, but you said "Well, I study your language" of course you do, like I do, and like millions of people do, since English is "the most important language"...and you're teacher isn't English either, is he/she? Let me guess..Polish? :/ ... What you learn in school on the 7th grade it's what English people learn on the 1st...Or you're bilingual or you're just cocky lol...of course I don't want to generate a discussion, I'm just giving my opinion :)

2010-03-02 00:34:03
I was saying that it is GRAMATICALLY correct, I didn't deny that it isn't expression. If you are 15yo and learn english, please do it well, you should be able to read with understanding on that level.

And believe me, I'm a lot older than you and by "studying" I didn't meant second language aquisition in primary school like you "are studying" now
2010-03-02 19:53:20
Then why isn't "I WIN" correct? As far as I know I can also use expressions, and that means that your first comment is absolutely meaningless
2010-03-03 00:05:11
With all respect, but you're an idiot? It's all about grammar, dude. You still can't understand what I wrote? Maybe ask your parents, older brother, your teacher or something if you are not able to think for yourself?
2010-03-03 17:58:45
So another person that thinks he's smart. Like confl1ct69 said , "I win" or "I fail" are expressions which means that both are correct.

Of course after lets say a football game , the commentator in BBC won't say "ARSENAL WINS!" when the game is already over. However , when you're talking to a friend and want to ligthen the mood you could use "WIN" instead of "WON".
2010-03-02 16:54:50
Well, look at #127 up there and yes, I'm a smart guy : )
2010-03-02 19:55:19
Haha look at you all full of yourself ;) Explain something to me though , "On the other hand, uneducated and simplicity-likeable Americans will tell that it is correct... Like you :)" by this , you meant that im wrong right ? Guess you're not that smart after all ...
2010-03-02 21:34:41
I was writing about, let's call it "grammar corectness", not casual talking with your friends. Tense is just bad there. Present Simple is baaaadddd, mkaaaaay?

You can say "wsup nigga, wanna kill somebody?" to your african-american friend from the hood and for you as a member of his gang it is correct and he won't kill you (kilya!), as far as for your "nigga friend" it is also correct, proper sentence. And it is not correct in the let's say "scientific" meaning.

Really, it's hard to teach you grammar, you should know it... Damn it! You're native! :) I should teach you how to speak in a proper way.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj6QqCH7g0Q

Maybe HotForWords will teach you something about grammar etc., if you don't want to understand what I mean in those simple words up there :)

2010-03-03 18:08:31
And now you're suggesting Im in a "gang" with my african-american friends? Damn , you need to get life/friends! After all , I think YOU need to learn proper english ;)

#131 "With all respect, but you're an idiot?" I think you meant "With all respect, but are you an idiot?" Your sentence would be correct if you wrote "With all respect, but you're an idiot." however , because you're trying to be such a smartass and think you're "s!c|<" at your english skills Im going to call you a moron ;)
2010-03-03 23:00:56
yeah I also noticed his fails but c'mon, he has no life, maybe we should forgive him :( *laugh* just another polish fanboy...Polish fanboy, what else? ... I C4N 4LS0 T4LK L1K3 TH1S, WH4T'5 TH3 PR0BL3M DUD3? :)after all my english is still better than lukes' ahha xDD
2010-03-04 14:38:41
He has a point but is wrong. No need to call him a Polish fanboy.
2010-03-04 18:10:22
yea ok maybe I exagerated, :/ you're right, but why does he think he's more right than you? I mean ffs even if you were a REAL dumbass I don't believe that his english would be better than yours :/
2010-03-05 00:10:31
I never said that my English is better than native speaker and sorry - not him, but you're just an idiot. Totally with no respect which I have for our British friend.

And your comments prove that you're a kid, and I can risk telling that you're a racist. Cya dude, I really have better things to do than trying to teach you some reading with understanding. Maybe you should exercise more?

And again - if you are, guys, trying to say over and over that "I win" is GRAMMATICALLY correct, I give up. You are just retarded then. No hard feelings :)

PS. I never claim that I any not making any mistakes. I do a lot of them as you can see. Nobody's perfect. You should have some distance, really - be cool.

BAHHH what can't you understand? We can say "I WIN" since it's not on any context..Yes, "I won" is gramatically correct, I never said it wasn't, but if my comment was "I WIN" and I could say "I WIN" in that case, why shouldn't I?..I make mistakes too...but we have to do our best unless you want me to speak portuguese with you while you speak polish to me..racist? wtf? I'm not racist, I just don't understand...Why did you correct me if my quote was right too? -.-
2010-03-05 16:06:22
man, I said that it isnt grammatically correct but you still can used in that case. Finally you understood me :)

And I don't correct you, I commented some1 else's post, not yours :)

peace dude :)

i hope that they will play on EM like on wcg, the have polish organisation.and word "polish" is matters!!! they will play for themselves, for their new player, for encourage him, to make him bring to them smth fresh wave. And this tournament will show, whether it was necessary to call lowskilled and not able(mightbe) to hold blow of public and pressure of a match on a scene of the player, instead of the friend who so helped and very often gained a team.
To clean Lukash from lineup, was the precipitate decision in my opinion. Having found the updated lineup, considering that though the Pasha also is talented, Lukash nevertheless is much more skilled. And in the present state of affairs, considering high level of the given tournament, Lukash would be we will not replace, as the sniper, and I would think that all played more confident, since the captain and finishing a team star, Neo~. After all it is so much victories, and it is equal as much defeats behind. And God forbid, the Pasha in another important round will make a fatal mistake.... it will be Pionas faith...
It is assured, pitiable experience with Kuben's kick, and a pickup of Pionas can play a malicious joke with old friends from PGS (simply as that more native). They remember this experience. Polish mighty five.As though was not, they it seems to me most adequately. Lukash's Drop was vain.
My modest opinion.
2010-03-01 22:29:38
