The 2010 season of the Electronic Sports World Cup seems to be nearing its start with the announcement of the first national qualifiers.

So far, only five national qualifiers have been announced by the ESWC, with Ghana also to stage a regional event, though the dates and location for its tournament have not yet been announced.

France, the country which will embrace the 2010 World Finals, and Romania are so far the only two European nations with qualifiers announced. The other three tournaments will be held in Asia (Iran and India) and in South America - Peru.

Below you can find the dates for these qualifiers:

Iran - 20 April
India - 14 May
France - 22 May
Peru - 29 May
Romania - 29 May
Ghana - TBA

The 2010 ESWC Finals, which will take place  from June 30 through to July 4 at Disneyland Park in Paris, will hand out a staggering $63,000 in Counter-Strike: 1.6.

good luck RomaniaHHHH

Swedish kids when they're anonymous & online = 99% Failmachines.

It's not like they're done announcing qualifiers, or that it would hurt to bring new/other countries into the mix, as the best way to develop your own thinking is through others.

Newer markets is good for esports in general and CS in particular...plus it's not like people in sweden , germany etc are only ones passionate about esports...one doesn't see or hear others...because opportunities are very less and the societies are different....but passion is there.

This is a step in the right direction

2010-03-13 18:45:39
we need a qualifier too in United Arab Emirates (Dubai)!!
2010-03-13 18:49:38
Saddest thing is that ESWC India won't be sponsoring travel expenses of cs1.6 winners. Only console game(NFS n FIFA) winner will be sponsored. About cs1.6, Re-Inforcement(firm organizing ESWC India) when inquired said that they are "trying" to find the sponsors at the moment.Or team can go on their own expenses.

Hope it doesnt end up lik WCG..... anyways gr8 2 c qualifiers in India.... <3 eswc.
2010-03-14 02:51:04
Yeah WCG was a failure but ESWC was seen forward to be some relief, a chance for Indian teams to compete at international arena. Sadly ESWC is also describing the same story.

I just hope they have qualifiers for Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Germany and such... lol!
2010-03-13 20:38:20
no qualifer for norway, even if they play good... like wcg08 and no wcg qual 09.. why cant we get some serious admins to our country!! that can make things happen
2010-03-13 20:48:50
LOL what's with you people looking down on these countries? You should be more happy now ESWC is globalizing CS. It will only help this game and it's community grow.

Football is not just about Brazil or England. The same goes to CS, it's not just about Sweden and Poland or Germany or whichever country. When people start losing interest in CS, nobody will care about how good your country is at CS. Nobody cares about the game anymore. Nobody wants to sponsor CS tournaments anymore.

Pretty sure more qualifiers will come soon. For the big guns.

So many sad comments coming from ignorant people in here.
And alot of them can't even get in their thick skulls that there are still many more qualifiers that are going to be announced.
2010-03-13 21:06:00
I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading here...

omg great job go and delete all my comment and leave #32 realy gj

not my fault that i have to deal with 15 years old kids who have no idea how life works but fair enough u r going to delete my comment

just give me one reason for the delete

and dont come across witch abusive behavior or off topic
2010-03-14 14:38:06
No one has claimed to be perfect thus it might occur that a given comment is not seen (though it is deleted afterwards once it has been noticed/notified).

As for your comments if the main comment is deleted all replies to it are disabled too. Though they still appear in your message/forum activity history.
2010-03-15 02:18:07
no offence but i dont see any reason to delete any post in an open discussion as losg as its usefull and doesnt hurt anyone or be off topic

i personally think that deleting ruins any discussion

thx for the answer
2010-03-15 06:58:01
Post are deleted precisely because of the reasons you have mentioned.

Disussions are surely respected as long as they are respectful too. Unfortunately, replies in this thread do not comply with it and, thus, were deleted.
2010-03-15 21:06:11
well as far as i remember non of the replies which i made or any other user in point of the pole were not respectfull but i leave as it

sad that this site is ruined by such stupid comments just remember the decade votes ...
2010-03-15 22:17:53
As said, replies to a deleted comment are too "disabled". As far as I remember only one of your comments was deleted as it did not help to try to calm the situation down.

It is a pity but this is like any other thread an open discussion and things like that can happen.
2010-03-15 22:45:45
Argentinan Qualifier is 25 26 and 27 of March.
2010-03-13 21:34:17
I hope people will have fun during their qualifiers, though I am not sure if, just read a comment by an Indian user where travel expenses where not "secured", they will actually be able to attend the main event which is what it is all about in the end.
2010-03-13 22:03:05
Ok,lets take a look

IMHO:those teams from Ghana and Iran won't stand against even 6-7th teams in Sweden/Germany/Denmark/Ukraine or etc...They'll come to the tourney as statists,so interesting games will be able to watch from 1/16 or smth like that

From the other side,it is very good step by ESWC,developing CS in such country is a great idea, will see what will happen
2010-03-13 22:25:33
if you want something to become as big as we want this we need to expand. if that means new countries, who may(we aren't sure) be less skilled, get to come and experience what makes Counter-Strike really great.. well good for not only them but for the community. it can only help the community going forward.

hope for the US quali soon!
2010-03-14 00:49:02
Agree,but...
those first steps would be hard as hell,u never know what could happen, probably cs won't be popular at all

So we can wish only good luck to this idea,no matter what happen =)

I think it is better to regret the fact that we had done, rather than we hadn't
2010-03-14 03:30:29
good luck romania!
2010-03-14 00:43:21

It's very nice to see that ESWC is trying to influence the world to play pc games. Now for those of who say that Ghana, Iran and others are a top class losers and dunno nothin about cs, let me tell ya. It may be that you've never seen them play and that cs is something new for them , but it also can be that Ghana's or Iran's players have watched fnatic, sk, mtw or mouz play in world class tours, but didn't ever had a chance to attend these events. And so, ESWC gives these people a one of a kind chance to show themselves world-wide. That's what cheers me the most.
2010-03-14 10:41:20
so true mate.

These guys try harder than most to attend just one big event and then also most of the times it just doesn't work out...leave alone the normal whines "we didn't get to practice vs top teams"...

CS will have a much better future and much more involved community if more nations are represented..its not like CS is played in only 10-20 countries... :)

gl to all the participants.
2010-03-14 10:58:16
If you press SELECT COUNTRY, the countries with qualifiers in this moment are:

algeria, argentina, brazil, cameroon, china, colombia, croacia, france, ghana, greece, india, indonesia, iran, peru, poland, portugal, romania, russia, slovenia, tunisia, ukraine.

No Sweden, denmark, norway, finland, germany, usa, uk, spain, korea... :( I Think that national organizers will contact with ESWC and we will see more qualifiers soon..

LOL. At every single ESWC ANY COUNTRY had the option to organize a qualifier FOR AN AMOUNT OF MONEY!! Any country could buy a slot. I dunno how`s it now under the new management but i doubt it`s different.

PS: doesn`t the "W" in ESWC stand for WORLD ?

you guys have no ideas on how these tournaments are decided. the reason why there's tournaments in such countries and none in the other countries is because ESWC couldn't get anyone to run a ESWC licence in those countries and secure the financing. On top of this, ESWC is not helping with funding. They use to provide organizers with some contact info at nvidia, but then it's still up to the company to sponsor a country or no.
