Playzone win last TG online qualifier

The four qualifying cups for The Gathering has now ended. The next stage will be the seeding cup.

Over the past few weeks four qualifying online cups have been played to determine which teams will progress to the main tournament held at The Gathering, in Norway.

The last online qualifier concluded Sunday evening, when Playzone defeated UNiTED 2-0 in the overall final (19-17 on de_dust2 and 19-16 on de_train).

A total of sixteen teams are ready for the seeding cup, in which they will battle for a spot at The Gathering and their seed in the main tournament. Only eight teams will advance from the seeding cup onto play-offs. These eight teams will along with the teams who qualify themselves at the event, plus the invited teams, battle for the first prize of $8500 and five tickets to DreamHack Summer.

So far a total of four teams have been invited to The Gathering, those teams are:

dignitas
H2k Gaming
MYM
n!faculty

The seeding cup will be held between 20-21 of March, while The Gathering will kick off 31st of March and will last over five days. On another note, it has been said Na`Vi might be attending as they have been in contact with The Gathering's game crew.

Seems a bit strange that dignitas, h2k, mym, n!faculty have been invited but a team like Frag eXecutors has to play qualifiers? Do you guys know what were the reasons behind this? Especially dignitas, I mean they even lost to the old EGC lineup in ESL Europe qualifiers ( I don't know if dignitas has the same lineup anymore).
