CSP showmatch hit by DDoS

The showmatch between fnatic and Reason-Gaming has been rescheduled due to a Denial of Service attack.

Tonight was the night where two of the world's best teams, fnatic (CS1.6) and Reason-Gaming (CS:S), would face eachother in a showmatch in CSPromod.

The match was scheduled to start at 20:00 CET, but was delayed due to server problems. Eventually the game started and fnatic took the lead by 15-9 on de_nuke. The server then stalled and the players disconnected.

Due to a DDoS attack the match could not continue, and it has now been rescheduled to an unknown date and time. In addition, the LO3 show was also hit by a small attack but the host was quick enough to avoid it.

It's actually a pretty good game(or mod). I bet you havent even tried it.

When he said make money I assumed that he would explain his reasoning by saying other large corporations such as intel amd nvidia and ati would come back to the cs scene and sponsor large events like cpl, but he didn't but by huge $$$ basically promod is aiming for competitiveness and trying to bring gaming back to it's 2005-2006 scene or higher...

The CSP creators have connections with Valve so its possible that u will have to pay in future. However they said that those connections and conversations with Valve are very weak.

btw the fnatic have one big hater. he always attacks when they are winning... this is cheating! Put some anti-ddos programs perhaps??

The CSP devs are players just like us (the boss of the project is also the runner of EG) who do this on their spare time for the community. They do NOT make money off of this nor will they ever, be it a beta or not. The game is free and you will never ever have to pay for it.

CSP is free. All you have to pay for is the Source Engine since CSP runs on it. The CSP devs did not make the Source Engine, Valve did; therefore you have to purchase it from Valve, not from the CSP team.
CSP is free, the Source Engine isn't.

Furthermore, you may be unaware of that since you can't be older than 12 years old but CS used to be a free mod as well BUT you had to own a legal copy of Half-Life in order to play it because it ran (and still does but it's a stand-alone game now) on the GoldSource (HL1) engine.

Well, the devs are planning on getting rid of all the CSS assets (sounds, weapon models...) so that people won't need to buy it, any HL2 game (such as HL2: Deathmatch, sold $5 on Steam) would work.

yeah i agree with you.. although with the current CSP, it'll never replace 1.6.
But, we're to naive if we expect 1.6 will continue exist like this forever just like u mention it before.

I've put high hopes for the CSP progress in the future. And this match should be the stepping stone for that matter, sadly things dont ended up like it should be.

Why are all of you guys cheering like this was a good thing? I love cs 1.6 to death, but you have to realize that 1.6 is dying out in popularity. CSP is the future of 1.6, like it or not. No it's not finished yet, but that's no reason to have such a hatred for it.

CSP is basically supposed to have the exact same gameplay as 1.6 (it's not perfect yet but it'll be a lot closer to 1.6 in future releases).
It is meant to keep this gameplay alive for years while just sticking with 1.6 wouldn't work as it's already dying out. Therefore if you hate CSP then that means you want 1.6 (the 1.6 gameplay) to die pretty soon. Is that so hard to understand?

I've tried CSP and I can see where it's going entirely and it will most likely be the future of the cs 1.6 gameplay, all I'm saying is I wouldn't say that in this current situation if you don't like/enjoy CSP then you don't like/enjoy 1.6. At the moment it's entirely different, there's still a huge amount of work to be implemented yet I can see this going huge when it's done.

The 1.6 gameplay combined with the source graphics. Perfect! :D
