Introducing: Dreamteam

Today we are proud to unveil a brand new feature here on HLTV.org. A feature that has been longer in the making than most of you have been playing CS for. Back when HLTV.org was but a small site Martin's biggest dream was always the Dreamteam game. He was shot down time and time again due to missing stats, time and admins, but times have changed, and today we are happy to launch Dreamteam!

Dreamteam is a manager/fantasy game, it works like many other fantasy games out there. That means it runs on leagues, the first league we will be running it on is EPS Nordic Season II. The point of the game is to put together the best team, this is done by buying the gamers of the different teams in the league. These gamers then rise and fall in value depending on their real world performance in the league.

The goal is then to have the most valuable team at the end of the season. This can only be done by checking out the players, the matchups, and assigning roles for players that add bonuses to their performance. The better you know the teams and the players, the better you will most likely do.

There is a catch however, the game is not actually finished, but the buying and managing parts are, meaning you can set up your team now while we work frantically to get the rest done for tomorrow afternoon when EPS Nordic starts. This also means exact values for bonuses and such have not been set yet, so you will have to be a little in the dark for the first round of roles.

The admins have already been setting up teams, and you can check out yours truly's right here. There will be full support for private leagues where you compete against just your friends, and of course also a global toplist putting everyone up against each other.

How long will the market be opened ? I mean can I choose one team for today matches, and change it for tomorrow ? Or I select a team for one round of the competition and after all of the matches of this round are over, only then I can change the team ?

It only runs on EPS Nordic atm, so only teams and players from there, when we run it on other leagues other teams will be there, one game is tied to one league.. :)

csmanager is the football manager of counter-strike.

Dreamteam and Manager's are very different, as managers are simulations whereas dreamteam is dependant on the players performance IRL.

Tons of people already do fantasy leagues on Football/Baseball and a lot of other games already. Several other websites have features for this in real sports as well, so it's not like they're copying it or anything.

I had never thought about something like this for e-Sports though... this is pure genius haha!

I only hope things don't get too messed up because of the whole team-hopping thing we have in CS. Starting a team in a league just to see your player leave the league by getting kicked should be pretty bad :(.

They wont be, not in this "game" at least, the game only runs for 1 league at a time, maybe when Extreme Masters 5 starts we will run a Dreamteam game on that, meaning you then choose from all the teams attending EM5. Since it is based on real world performance it is tied to only one event.

You guys should run one of these for the qualification phase of EM. In the European qualis for example a huge amount of world class teams attend, and since they start from a group stage there are also a ton of matches to count for :D. Should be one of the most stacked games :P.

Missing some information on how much an effect a loss will have on a player. Take for example if a player completely owns in his special category and gets a lot of bonus points, but his team loses all the time. Can the bonus points outweigh the minus for losing all the time, or will it be futile to choose players from teams that lose a lot?

Well, that is what we have to balance, and we will do our best to do it right the first time, but we will most likely have to change it during the game.. Some of the bonuses as you have noticed are "reversed", but obviously a player doing _really bad_ will not be completely saved by his Newbie bonus..

More specific numbers on everything will be released tomorrow..

A small request(or question whatsoever): is there any possibility to start setting the matchups for each round under where you buy your players? Or any other place? So you can pick your players based on the set up of each round: i'd for example want an fnaticplayer if the round was Fnatic - Ab Ovo(a supposedly weaker team), but if the match of the round was Ab Ovo - MYM, i'd might want to place my bet on an Ab Ovo player anyways!

So well, yeah.. Dont know if I made myself understood, but I tried :p

Furthermore I love this idea so damn much! Been playing similar games for the Norwegian footballscene for some time, so this is awesome! Starting to feel an adiction coming already ;)

Oh, and a last question(sorry for being such a whiner..) is there possible to make a link on all of the playernames when you are in the transfer area? so that you might check their stats directly when checking out players - instead of going the whole way around into the stat system to check every player, so it's easier to see whos the better awper, rifler etc, and also k/d ratios! In other words a directlink to the statsection on the players.

The data is based on the ACTUAL matches being played, so you can go on HLTV and see how well the players you bought are doing, the entire game is about REAL WORLD performance, it is not virtual. :)
