Arbalet Cup Europe groups announced

Event: Arbalet Cup Europe 2010

The coming weekend is going to be a weekend to remember. Sixteen of the world's best teams will gather in Stockholm, to face off at the highly anticipated Arbalet Cup Europe.

The dates 14-16 of May is definitely a weekend you should set aside time to catch some thrilling Counter-Strike action. Arbalet Cup Europe will attract sixteen of the world's best teams, and feature a whopping $37,000 prize pool.

The past weeks we have been feeding you with updates regarding the Arbalet Cup Europe, and its attendees. Lastly, we reported that Natus Vincere and compLexity were added to the list of attending teams, finalizing the list. The groups have been drawn and the teams have learned who they will face in the first group stage.

Starting on the 14th of May, Group B and C will start crossing swords at 12:00 to 15:00 CET, while Group A and D will clash from 17:00 to 20:00 CET. In total, eight teams will advance to day two, whereas the day will feature two groups of four teams. 

Four participants will advance to the final stages at Arbalet Cup Europe, where the teams will fight it out in a single-elimination bracket, playing best-of-three maps.

Very weird that none of the norwegian teams are invited. All of the top 3 team in Norway like Cbteam, Lions and Online-Kingdom could have done very well in this event. Cbteam is in my opinion one of the best teams in the world in a good day, and the other two teams are actually quite better than several of the invited teams. If the world wants to get Norway back on the CS-map, this isn't the way of doing it. Still, I can understand the misbelief after being away for 2-3 years, but now we are on our way back. It might take some time, but if we can preceed this evolvement it might be the beginning of a new era for norwegian e-sport.


As a tips for the Arbalet; kick forZe, Alternate or Ravens and invite one of the norwegian teams as all of them are much better.

Only four teams will make it to the playoffs, so I hardly think that will happen.

Two teams will advance from each group, going into the second group stage, where two groups of four teams will fight it out. Top one in the group will go to the semis, while second and third teams will play the relegation stage. Hope you understand, if not, I'll try to make it more clear.

I think because Arbalet is a more privately ran event, that it will be HLTV/scorebot only. Theres no unnecessary nonsense like with the ESL.

Events like this have become so much harder to predict over the last year. In the last few years you would be expecting scandanavian/german teams to typically dominate. CIS and US teams were there to be an upset, but you never really expected them to do any real damage.

Now.. wow. Im looking at the groups and I just dont know what to think! The standard worldwide just seems to have increased massively. Almost every team in this event should believe they can win this.
