According to team-aaa.com, the ESWC has failed to pay its subcontractors for the services performed at the French ESWC qualifier.
The French gaming website adds that one week prior to the world finals, the ESWC opted to part company with Reseau Local, which had provide computers and administration for the French qualifier, and agreed deals with two different companies, INSA Lan and Leni France, for these two services.
Reseau Local reportedly told the ESWC that a third of the €15,000 bill from the French qualifier would have to be paid in cash, with Games Solution, the company behind the ESWC, assuring them on May 21st, one day before the event, that the cheque had been sent.
However, aAa indicates that Reseau Local has not yet received any payment, almost a month-and-a-half after the event, and their attempts to contact games Solution have all been uneffective.
HLTV.org has learned that several of the ESWC's partners for the world finals have expressed their unhappiness at the paltry number of spectators at the event during the four days of competition.
"We held a meeting between exhibitors, we were promised an event with 50,000-80,000 people and in the end there were only 3,000. This is not honest," a Peugeot source told aAa.
Moreover, the ESWC had announced one week prior to the event that it had signed a "huge" contract with a new partner, whose name was supposed to be revealed during the ESWC finals.
HLTV.org was told during the event that the announcement would be made at the closing ceremony at the Walt Disney studios, but as the clock hit 2.00 AM and the studio's doors were closed, there were no signs of the new partner.
The ESWC had also indicated that the announcement of the winner of the $5,000 fragmovie contest would be made on the last day of the competition, but the French company stayed silent on the matter on Sunday.
After the French ESWC qualifier, Planet Saturn pulled out as sponsor, and aAa believes that more companies will do the same, now that the world finals have come to an end.
These facts raise a lot of questions about the ESWC's ability to pay out the $213,500 promised for this event, with the G7 vowing to act in September if the players do not receive their money by then and if the ESWC fails to adress the issue of the prize money owed from the 2008 edition.
HLTV.org has contacted the ESWC for a comment on this matter, but without any success so far.
ESWC - back with lies
: It was excited when ESWC claim that they will be back with 65000$ award. What do you think about it?Do you think IT WILL IMPROVE ESPORTS AT FRENCH?
R!Go: I'm sorry to tell you a truth that the company who bought ESWC is Stephane Cosse. It was well known in Fr because he used to pay nothing after any event held by it,like click arena, and they are good at moving their house.I'd like to see it become an excellent events at fr,but I've got nothing excited when I heard of it.Stephane Cosse will be back with lie.
;( what he said maybe come ture... foresee...Feb 22
they thought there will be like 30,000 to 50,000 people and there was only 3000 its not there folt.
and i am sorry that i can't say in english what i realy meant to say on the thread.
so please to be like that.. not everyone perfect.
They failed to do so in the end, that means ESWC failed in advertising their event. It's as simple as that. How hard is it to understand that?
If you're doing business and you promise your partner something, you'd better deliver to them or else they can sue you for not completing the contract (it depends on what the contract says, each case is different.)
I doubt they can be sued, but it is likely to put off their current sponsors, and potential sponsors.

I think it is time to give ESWC a shovel to cover its burial site, it's already dug a deep enough grave for 10 companies.
sick yeah ? :D

So how about you applaud #31 for actually being intelligent.
next time they shouldnt do such promises( i am sure that the area wasnt even quite big enough for so much ppl)

Still there's sth I don't understand: what's the point of organizing such an event if you cannot pay for it? it must cost something like 500.000€ to create it, if it's not profitable, they'll just go bankrupt having wasted a lot of time and making fools of themselves..
the esl has a strict pay out process.
and when this not help just contact the community manager of intel then at least the problem should be solved or go into the right way :-)

This situation only shows how stupid and illiterate you are. Shame on you. Learn history and Geography please.
i can hope that they still come through, but its unlikely when you look at this report
2008 No money MYM, 2010 No money Na'Vi
fuckoff !!!
From what I remember the biggest audience was on ESWC 2006 on this big sport stadium there was like 10-15k of people and it was a freakin huge success. I mean someone must have made a +0 mistake...
gg!
It's a huge joke really. ESWC figured out the cheapest way to outsource stream coverage... Don't set one up and then let the community struggle to do the work for you, for free.
Thanks a lot ESWC. Way to really knock it out of the park for your triumphant return. Good thing you people wanted to buy an established eSports brand just so you could run it straight back into the ground.

paging Mr. Arbalet!
First of all, have there ever been a gaming event in the west with this much audience? I kinda doubt there have even been that in Asia, but I guess the yellow once have pulled it off.
So, when you look for a sponsor, they never just believe you. They will also check into the facts, and if what someone a little bit higher said is true. And the biggest amount of people watching ESWC ever was 15000, then no way any sponsor would buy a 50000 lie.
Anyhow, this is a rumor from ONE site. Don't freak out just yet people-.-
one: are there any prizes for betting last month?
i had 520k points so im curious to see if i won :P, now sorry about that.
two: i hope na'vi get their money and eswc dont go under

+Cyberarena: ~11.000
=51.000 spectators :)
Ah well, we got to see some good Counter-Strike.
Stop whining and I'm pretty sure it will all be fine in the end.
I read aAa news completly and apparently Games Solution have to get 170 000€ in 90 days before getting the G7 angry. Managers try to find Investment Funds in Qatar. For estimates the money deficit aAa asked professionnals present and it should remain between 350,000 and 500,000 euros to find, including cash prizes ...
Once again no FUCKING MONEY
That's too bad because many people trusted them again, i hope at least cs 1.6 cashprizes will be given :/

lol, i guess aAa guys dont have more age either :D
I wouldnt be suprised if the company goes bankrupt, but im pretty confident most if not all of the money will be given to the teams.
naice
It's a fact.

Go pari bercy for the 50000-80000 people
there should seriously be some punishment for organisers who refuse to pay out prizemoney. Like jailtime or something.
We can't have this sort of joke in esports anymore. It's suffocating the development of esports. People need to keep what they promise and if they don't, take the punishment for it.

This discourages sponsors.
