We caught up with CnB-Gaming veteran Thiago "btt" Monteiro and discussed his team's path in Bilbao so far.
The Brazilian team have reached the knock-out stages after topping their group with victories over Portuguese duo x-function and Revolution Games and French side aAa.
CnB looked a bit rusty in their first match, but improved performances in the other two games assured them of a Round of 16 encounter with Antwerp Aces.
Monteiro admitted his team were a bit off against x-function, but stated they are quite happy with what they have shown at GameGune so far.
"I think our performances were very good, I do not know if they have even surpassed our expectations, but they were very good," he told HLTV.org.
"We played two matches against the Portuguese teams. On the first map, we started out very bad as Terrorist, perhaps due to anxiety about the game, the event, it was not nervousness, but anxiety from a debut at an event.
"In the second match, we managed to get our game going, both as CT and T, and in the match we expected to be the hardest one, against aAa, even because of their scoreline against the other two teams, I expected a harder game. We entered the game really focused, we spoke before the match and the result was satisfactory."
CnB Gaming will now lock horns with Antwerp Aces, a team Monteiro confessed to being fairly unknown to his team-mates.
"To be honest, I do not know them. I will take a quick nap because I did not have a good night of sleep, wake up at 16.00 and check if there are some demos from them. I do not know their game, I do not know how they play, but we will try to get a good result," he noted.
Monteiro added that, despite his personal goal being a finish in the top 3, he believes his team can fend off the threats of Natus Vincere and the likes.
"I think so, chucky and I have won international events against big teams, fnatic, SK, mouz, and I think that when the five players join the server anything is possible, it only depends on each one of us," Monteiro affirmed.
"We always say that foreign players do not get nervous, that Swedish players do not get nervous, but they lose the pistol round, they lose the fourth round, we start shouting and that can influence a lot, but I think we can beat any team here, it only depends on ourselves."

LIES
let us see what the reality is and how they perform in the rest of the matches.
if they beat Antwerp Aces they can go home, is that what you're saying?
"CNB Gaming [ 24 : 06 ] Revolution Games"?? NOT, prefer stay home...
LOL please firegamers the best brazilian team..CNB 16 3 to wcrea?LOL i'lold

maybe fear of something different? or that some team living so long away from the "center of cs" can actually play the game better than half the teams on this comp? i dont know...
but then again, this is CS anything can happen.
Post edited 2010-07-23 16:28:06
anyways gl brazilian brothers i hope u win this 1 :DD
-We can loose from any team.
-Maybe we can take 4th place.
-Na`Vi is going to annihilate us.
-fnatic will smash us.
-Fx will take us.
-We are so unlucky.
And you're hating .. not me ;)
totaly agree
you made me laugh xD
bcs ur reply was 100% true xDDD
Im not saying CNB is going to get the gold but they have guys who played along the ranks of one of the worlds best player in cogu , so its not like the winning formula is foreign to these group of guys.
Don't say shit. who do you think they have that is "ALMOST AS SKILLED AS" fnx, nak, fallen or bit? LOL
They are good as a TEAM, but they kinda suck individually... I guess it's the opposite of fg, they have amazing players individually, but their teamplay isn't as good as CNB's...
And just for the record, bruno and bit SUCKED at EWSC, and fnx played with a wheel mouse (is this how you call those old mouses with a ball to control it?) against mtw cause his had been stolen...

GL.
As for mouz or fx, I don't think it's very hard at all, would say 50/50...
It's obvious that cnb would play without big strats in this groupstages! why should they use tactics, when they know that they have 99% to reach playoffs wihtout them? other teams will revise demos from groupstages, and try to discouver their gameplay (as BTT will do with AA's demos). but cnb showed us great aiming today! and if you search for demos against fg, mibr (at eswc) and wcg sp qualifier, you will see that they are a very strong team together. chucky is one of the best tac leaders in brazil, and cnb is a great organization. this team has had a strong preparation and will show this in playoffs.
cky and btt won a lot of tournaments with mibr! prd (the guy who played like a giant against fnatic with FG) and spacca used to be in mibr too! and mkr is one of the most promising player at this moment. he's a very smart gameplay, and after the initial nervousness, he showed a real nice game (against aAa at de_inferno).
so i really dont know why this guys dont believe in this team. probably they didn't believe navi in their first tournament too. buuuuuuuuuttt, what will happen if cnb wins against mouz? then this guys will imediatly change their opinion! im really sure about that...
(like EG x NaVi at Arbalet Dallas, when EG crushed NaVi with and 16-1. everybody knows that Navi is much more stronger than EG, but they had a really nice momentus in this game)
Na`Vi's B-place on tuscan is invincible... so they rushed only a-place:)
And imo:
CnB>DP,k1ck,eLogic,wCrea too.

aAa won burning, burning won Na`Vi and cnb won aAa
so I totally agree with his words: "I think we can beat any team here, it only depends on ourselves".
your FX all the latest tournaments shows their worst
that's mean you think they can't beat all of the teams here?!
no! you think they can win
so why cnb can't?
prd greater sniper than pasha
and all players in fx had very bad statistics and games at all
and i think cnb will win at least 2 games and even more
Post edited 2010-07-23 16:59:39
The problem is FX is playing with almost unchanged roster for 5 years and this is a new roster for the brazilians. They didn't achieve anything on an international stage so they have to prove themselves. And who knows maybe they will I'm not saying they won't. But stating something like they said is pretty reckless considering the toughest games are in front of them.
but find the phrase, when talked about "cnb better then..." or else..
try to know what you're talking about before opening you mouth.
the diference is that south americans teams wont receive suport from big companies, so its not that easy to be entering great tournaments in europe/n.america.
im sure everyone knows about complexity, eg, etc, and know nothing about brazilians teams.
and tell me one thing, wheres the point in playing a championship if you cant even believe in yourself and your teammates? will you play to lose?
stop being a ahole.
And it's one thing to believe in your team and teammates. And it's a completely different thing to publicly state things like that. I doubt they need media apperances to know they can win games rely on each other.
right.

About the VERY EASY GROUP, I guess it's a mistake from you. Every big team has got an EASY group. Na'vi, fnatic, mouz and fx. So you can't "blame" CNB for the group it's got...
Post edited 2010-07-23 16:52:10
I mean, prd played VERY well against the invincible 2009 fnatic, btt was from the super 2008 mibr. As you said, TOGETHER they have never even showed up, you're not wrong at all. But I really think they can be a surprise, almost managed to beat fg, that almost beat fnatic... I know things do not work this way, but it's cs, we never know how things work...
Post edited 2010-07-23 16:49:25
2nd NaVi
3rd fx/CnB
4rd CnB/fx
btt, prd and mkr great players !!!
bs brazilians guys
But i know that CNB will be one of the top4 teams..
Probably they will be second place...
2. Fnatic / Frag eXecutors
3. mouz.
because Fnatic will be defeat by CNB and get to lower Navi will win against FX..
After that CNB will win NAvi on the winner
and Fnatic will be defeat by FX on the lower them Final lower will be Navi x Fx than fx win and the Grand Final will be CNB x FX
no1 shouldnt disregard them, I think they can get semifinals, and then everything is possible :]
+1

Not saying it is a great thing, but they threatened a top team oO
Though still I feel the brazilian teams are a step or two behind the top teams, atleast nowadays :)
Still, I'm sure that with an amzing awper (fallen) and one of the best assaulters of all times (fnx), they could win any team if they could spend some time trainig in Europe. But their new organization doesn't have money to make them travel, so it's kinda impossible right now :S
They are just too weak for now... i bet 4-8 place for theme or even worse O.o
I didn't know that this clan exist before GG, so please :)
Brazilians are strange sometime, they are "walking with head in the clouds"
did btt play good? i have him on my dreamteam

CNB!!!
GO CNBrazil :ppPppPPpPPp
They deserve win, by everything done to be there.
Let's go CNB!
Go cnb win *-*
Last tournamente they were beaten only by 16-12 by firegamers (but twice). At any given day, any team can beat any other team. Navi was beaten by BURNING. Anyway, I didn't expect cnb to beat aAa or Mouz, so if they build some momentum and on the right map they can beat fnatic. Dont think they will beat Navi. Also you guys forget the obvious, these players have been watching navi and fnatic demos ever since they were kids (lol) but fnatic/navi have no idea how CnB actually plays.
I'm sure you were exagerating about EVER SINCE THEY WERE KIDS. It's easier that Na'Vi watched some brazilian demos ever since they were kids.
About fnatic, fnatic has already lost so much against brazilian teams that they know EXACTLY what to wait for. Forest, dsn and carn will tell the young boys how things will work...
Ok, MOUZ gOT dowN... and fnatic will be the next i hope!
-Burning won 2 times against Na`Vi, why not CNB ?
-What's the problem with him being confident in his team? O.o
-he's just being confident guys...
+1
agree, cnb > burning
