According to ESEANews.com, three members of the disbanded compLexity squad have teamed up with David "savi0r" Park to compete at WCG USA.
News first broke on Wednesday when compLexity chose to release their Counter-Strike team with immediate effect, following that Thomas "thoMz" Garcia missed his flight to Beijing where the team was supposed to attend the MSI BEAT IT tournament.
This incident also led to Derek "dboorN" Boorn and Kevin "aZn" Wang deliberately not boarding their flights. The compLexity management did not take this lightly and called it an outright disrespectful action towards a tournament organizer, adding that is this was not what the compLexity name stood for.
The three former compLexity members, Derek "dboorN" Boorn, Andrew "Irukandji" Timmermann and Jeff "hero" Mettetal, have now teamed up with David "savi0r" Park to attend the WCG USA qualifier which will take place September 10-12.
Park is an old teammate of Boorn, Timmermann and Mettetal, having had a spell together in x3o back in 2009. He and Kevin "aZn" Wang have also been teammates at several local U.S. events.
"David was an obvious choice for us due to our past with him. David has competed with Drew, Jeff and I for years and has been to countless local LANs with Kevin. David's someone we have complete faith and confidence in to fill-in and not miss a beat chemistry wise. Another crucial factor is he is still extremely familiar with how we play and we still use some of the tactics we did when he was on the team before due to Drew being a lackluster leader and not being innovative", Boorn told ESEANews.com
"We all get along well outside of game and he's someone we've all kept in close contact with no matter what is going on in the CS world. He has a really laid-back attitude and is very easy to play with. He has a great CS mind and his awareness is one of his better attributes s
o I have no worries about how we'll play in LA."
Bringing in David "savi0r" Park also means that Thomas "thoMz" Garcia will not cast his presence upon the new setup. However, this was not something the team initially intended to, but Boorn says that Garcia did not give them much choice:
"Replacing Tom isn't something any of us were jumping to do. Even though this isn't a "team" and this isn't a "roster change," Tom gave us little to no space to work with when making this decision. We knew we had to look elsewhere as things would always be a little off due to this unfortunate turn of events."
"With that said, it is what it is and we're past that for the most part and we're all looking forward to the upcoming events instead of dwelling on the past"
The squad, now renamed to POV.wp, will attend WCG USA with:
Derek "dboorN" Boorn
Kevin "aZn" Wang
Andrew "Irukandji" Timmermann
Jeff "hero" Mettetal
David "savi0r" Park
