The World Cyber Games organisation has announced the groups for the 2010 tournament.
The event will officially start the 30th of September, lasting until the 3rd of October, with a total of eight groups having been drawn. It will furthermore take place in the city of Los Angeles, USA, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Whichever teams manage to secure top two placing will advance to the playoffs. The groups for World Cyber Games 2010 are as follows:

It's not even a problem of number. What we try to tell you Nomad, it's just the fact that WCG Nordic provided 2,3,4 or five slots, whatever, to few nations while the other qualifiers provided one or two slots for each nation qualifier. This is not logic, license issues or not. All nations and more particularly Scandinavian nations, Denmark and more have a huge impact of what the e-sport scene is today. That's how WCG thanks Scandinavia for that, all right. Just one think fnatic, powergaming will not be there. WCG taste their own policy. I don't even need to do research to have my own point of view on WCG behaviour. If WCG has financial issues, then remove qualifier from unknown country such as Greece, Macedonia, they'll not have to pay for these trips, we don't mind.

Haha, this year's WCG is one complete joke. I have never even heard half of the names, and the three Nordic countries, one of the best CS-areas in the world, get only one spot overall. And #48, that is why fnatic disqualified; they didn't attend the Nordic qualifiers coz they wanted to protest WCG by that.

If you look at brackets that's what it looks like. To get into finals tyloo has to beat FX, then MYM, then FG and then lions which I think they are capable of. It is MUCH harder for NaVi though! First they need to beat EG(or ex Burning) then mTw and then SK( or FX or WMF or forze).. But they've done it before so everything is in their hands.

To comment to the matter of Greece.
The Greek scene is going to inactivity or whatever the latest 2-1,5 years. There aren't even lan tours happening and the majority of the top players doesn't have motivation in order to stay focused on the game, so many are departing or leaving the scene. And at this time many players who in past years where not so good as the top there are joining team teams because there is no one better than them! The level of the top teams there except LT,Dh and a bit of NEVERMORE isnt as good as it seems. However, even though the greek players carry many problems (in-game and character), there are some players who can definately achieve and play the old top level that some years ago it used to be. And like the ESWC GR Qualifiers fiasco, it seems that WCG Quals also are not going to happen. If we count that the tournament starts 30 September and now we have 7, are the team and the organization for tha travel will be ready to play high, or even travel easily?
To the in-game possibilities know, even though i am not a player who 'rised' in the scene, i am pretty smart to judge the level and the skill of the teams there. And for this i am going to say 1-2 things that and the other countrymates can judge this too.
The most satisfying team in Greece is DH, due to the level of 4 of the 5 players (Quaker,Castigar,Major,AVEL) - unk not so good but a satisfying awp-player but this team have managed a bit awkward achievement. Even though the 'best' it hasn't won the majority of the lan tournaments that happen there.
But they have lost 3 times (and a EPS title) from NEVERMORE a team which has 5 good aimers with some experience all over these years (skiner,averol,gorenje) etc. but they didn't have an lan winning this years (going to play in IEM Season Qualyfing Rounds).
And for the end LT is the most successful team from the beginning having won 3 tournaments out of 3 and also had a very good presentation at the EBL Season 2. The top perfomance of some of their players in the likes of WaR and FORGIVEN (ex Begrip.GRE,24'7 players - current captains of Greece National Team) are keeping the team at the top level but this team doesn't seem to have a same level fith-player (fronimos) and the other two guys of their team arent so stable (MAO,Hatred) at their performance, although having many experiences from tournament winnings at the past years.
That's a bit about all the stuff out here

(naturally there will be additional qualifiers still as the news states) What I mean is that is it really official that for example Power Gaming won't attend WCG? Seems a bit strange as natu said in an interview at SEC that it is still unsure if they will attend WCG, and now if this really is the official list, the attendance of PG was probably already known back then.

Because besides the paid slot some countries have more slots but the teams have to pay the expenses.
Thus, if the money is available, certain teams, (Lions, mTw (I presume their 2nd spot is a non-paid one)) are able to attend too.

The concept of WCG is, like the olympic games, to have a representative of country for each game (discipline) in a grand final and that's it! Nothing more and nothing less! If a sponsor in Bangladesh has the money to send the best 5 CS players, who apparently have played CS solely on LAN, then so be it and it's great and that's what it's all about! WCG hosts the grand finals and the license holders do the qualifiers (with the WCG brand) and pay the trips to Los Angeles. Including everything it costs around 12000$ to send a five players team. Taking that fact into consideration WCG GF was aware that not so many "poor" countries were going to be able to fund, they opened second and third slots for the more wealthier countries.
And although the groups might be "redicilous" with weak teams, you all have to agree that in the last Grand Finals the Top16 Elimination round has always been a blast with top teams and close matches not too different from those thousends "invite-only" 8 teams tournaments of ESL or Chinese/Korean organizations. I-DX has a chance of advancing to play-offs as FireGamer is not so consistent team. On paper i-dx can beat both FG and forze. I watched some demos of their players. Nice skills they have. More insight my pak bros can provide.
For ATE it is next to impossible given the group it has.
Edit : FG is amazing with the talent they have and if any 2 players will be on fire then it wil be no chance for i-dx but lately they have a habit of loosing matches to mibr, cnb, some unknon Brazil team.
