Hungary get default NationsCup win
Hungary have booked a place in the Clanbase NationsCup XIV group stage after getting a default win over Romania.
The two nations met each other on Sunday in the second qualifying round, with Romania claiming a 2-0 victory after winning de_nuke and de_train.
After the match, Hungary handed in a protest as two Romanian players did not have their respective Steam IDs entered in the GUIDS section, as rules state.
The Romanian duo had, however, their correct Steam IDs entered in their accounts, just in a different section.
According to the Clanbase's internal rulebook, the admin is required to validate the Steam IDs before the match starts.
Romania captain Dragos "KrieppeN" Karner told HLTV.org that, prior to the start of the encounter, his players asked the admin if everything was in place regarding their GUIDS, having received the green light to play the match in response.
Romania asked Hungary for the chance to replay the match, but after the latter refused to grant that request, they are out of NationsCup XIV.

Rules are same in every cup. That's also considered cheating. There are many ways of cheating, not just wallhack, aimbot etc. This is called "freelancing" = using player that is not registered.

Problem is that in that "wrong section" you can edit whatever you want whenever you want and it doesn't keep logs because it's just simple text field (like you can write your steam id in "my info on hltv.org". It's just text. While on the other hand, any change of steam id is logged and can be seen.

Nobody is forced to play! Point is, if you do play, you have to make sure you play as according to the rules, is it? Any anti-cheat has bypasses, and it's just a matter of knowing them. I still know professional players that cheat in big online cups. Does that help you feel any safer?

The other (bEe) entered his ID rigth AFTER the match. And than, they advised to compare the server log's ID with the given ID, which has been there for 2 long minutes... :D

It's nice to read all the troll comments but in all due respect to Romania, Hungary is right in this case. It is the player's one and only job to take care of their accounts (join their respective national team and enter their respective STEAMIDs) and if they failed to do this, they either don't take this competition seriously or their NT captain didn't inform them enough/didn't do his job properly.

NT captain's responsibility is to check if everything is okay and Romanians NT players should not even asked the admin if everything is okay because it is not his job to check that. What the admin said was not a mistake but more a misunderstanding.

Yes, news post writer didn't do his job properly :) That is incorrect in the first place, so it lead to misunderstanding.

Anyway, the main problem is, that CB doesn't use the proper punishment for such kind of mistakes. The rules are rules, and if some info/data or anything else are required prior to the match, than it should be provided. The Romanian players missed that, so the Hungarians had every right to point this out to the admins.
First of all, if the CB rulebook states, that someone who fails to enter recquired data like this, gets a red card, than they should get a red card, otherwise the rulebook is completely pointless. Moreover the admins clearly doesnt like to take responsibility for their rullings, so they make the Hungarian NT scapegoats by offering an alternate opportunity to the Romanians, a rematch, so it seems like it's our fault again...
I don't say that we deserved to go through, because it's not true, but it's a fact, that Romanians failed to follow the rules, for which in fact are punished way too much. CB should modify the punishment of minor mistakes like this to a "rematch" from "DQ", and then there wouldn't be any upset and flaming like this in the future.
And yeah, we can say that the Hungarians are unfair, but to be honest, we just followed the rulebook. Yes, we lost that qualification match, and the Romanians were better, so they SHOULD be in the group stage, but it's a little bit harsh, that everyone is blaming the Hungarian NT, and noone is speaking about the rulebook, or the Romanians, who made the mistakes.
It was a little bit unfair, but 100% legal and valid, and lets be honest, non of the teams have any chance to advance through from the group stage, so there's no point to whine around...

Nice post, I agree except for the "scapegoats" part. Post says that "Romania asked Hungary for the chance to replay the match", so afaik CB didn't ask for a match to be replayed, because they couldn't give a rematch if the rules say forfeit. Unfair maybe, but legal and valid as you said.

Anyway, I don't think that Romania should have been in the qualification stage at all. There are clearly inferior teams invited to the group stage already. So I guess it's just bad luck, and lack of attention from your NT.

Nicky, you're right in most of your posts but not entirely. The fact that my teammates didn't have their steamid’s not even in another location is a big lie, I have verified this clearly after the game (I have to mention that this appeal was made 2 hours after the match was over). The admin clearly saw that my teammates had their steam id's put in another location and I'm inclined to believe that he himself is the one that told the others. This admin didn't want to listen to us for a second or to think of taking the right decision. I knew about this rule and I had told the players 2 days before to put their steam id's on the site, but I didn't think there would be another place where you can put them, otherwise I would have warned them. They didn't put them on properly, that's all. In my opinion, there should have only been a yellow card and a warning for this mistake. I played several times in clanbase, I have never had this kind of problem but I must say that every time I joined the server, most of the admins would warn us that the steam id's aren't properly or at all in. That's one of the reasons for which we thought that there wouldn't be a problem anyway. I'm sorry to say but this decision is disappointing even though on paper it clearly says that we were wrong. There should have been other solutions, we've been working these days and playing on the map and not on paper. People should have thought of the consequences and should have taken a decision based on our good game against Hungary. I have to mention that bEe had his steam entered last year, and that's what he told me, that it was on just as we had ours on but probably in the wrong place, the only difference is that last year no one had anything to say. It's natural to do you justice when on paper it says that you're right but in this case there doesn't have to be such a sharp rule to make a decision on paper, there has to be a way to make a decision according to what you feel and what is right when it comes to the game. In what the team TeG's mistake against Fx is concerned, talking about this is no longer the case, because I'm the only member left from that line-up and the other teammates don't deserve these insults. I've discussed it with Neo too and he has forgiven us, as he said that he knows that any other team would have done the same and that there's no problem. I have all the respect for this team and I'll always be grateful to them. I'm sorry it turned out like this and that everyone is insulting clanbase. I consider that there was a mistake from both sides. Clanbase, although there aren't any prizes involved and this is one of the reasons players get to make mistakes, is still a prestigious thing where a lot of people want to play, exception made by the players who play this game only for the big amounts of money. Probably, if they were here too, the people from Cb would have shown more interest towards the players. My opinion is that this rule should be eliminated or at least it should be made the admin's job to verify the steam id's from now on. I'm absolutely sure this has happened to other teams as well but without all the official fuss. I forgot to mention that the admin suggested to replay the game, although there's no mention of such thing in the regulations. The Hungarian team indeed did not agree therefore I have no respect for this country despite the fact that I share the same nationality (Hungarian). My dad was part of this country and I'm not proud of this, we all know a lot about them. I'm Romanian and I love my country with all its flaws even though my name is a Hungarian one: Paka Daniel :). I'm honestly really sorry for all of this, we owe the Romanians a lot of apologies as we made them expect more. It's a pity that this time we actually gave more of our interest and something like this happened. I don't think there's room for another decision therefore we'll submit to the situation and eagerly wait for the following competitions, whether it'll part of CB/ESL or nationals.
