IEM5 World C'ship group draw

Game: Counter-Strike 1.6

The groups for the IEM5 World Championship have been draw, and 11 teams have learned who they will come up against.

The draw has thrown up quite the killer Group B, with Swedish trio SK Gaming, Lions and fnatic all together in the same group as current world champions Natus Vincere.

The new Evil Geniuses team and an undetermined team from the Asian continent make up the rest of the group.

In Group A, European runners-up mTw will lock horns with Frag eXecutors once again in a group which also contains Brazilian highfliers compLexity and the new TyLoo line-up.

The IEM5 World Championship will be held at CeBIT in Hannover from 1-5 March, a tournament whose prize purse has not yet been announced.

The group winners will move on to the semi-final stage, while the runners-up and the third-placed side will play the relegation stage for the last two places in the playoffs.

Lets be honest... you obviously know very little about the US CS scene aside from what you read in articles and watch at tournaments. If you knew the players, they'd tell you differently. EG currently has an IGL who has consistently fragged better than their last one in every event that they've both competed and has been the only IGL in the US who has been able to decisively beat EG even with their "european" strats. His midgame calling is much better than Lurppis's as well. Nobody gives Drew enough credit and I can't wait for him to make all his doubters look like idiots.

Not exactly that, but it's kinda easy to predict who goes trough and the games will be the same as in every event.We won't see any newcomer (like NaVi last year) that will be suprise and do some magic.Group A no doubt mtw,fx,complexity (no offense russian fans, but mouzsports isn't what it used to and SK had just bad game wich has happened with everyone)And group B will be fnatic, SK and NaVi.Who REALLY thinks that EG or Lions will suprise is beyond me, the fact that SK didn't event get to the playoffs in the last event means that they will practice 200% more, be more commitment and bloodlustier.And we all know that fnatic is the favourite and NaVi hasn't failed a long time.

I believe it was the WEM they actually won? In the final vs fnatic if im correct? Gonna be pretty hard for EG though. I also think many of the European teams have an advantage over American/Asian teams since most of the European teams already played against each other with their line-ups at the European Finals last weekend. If EG builds up momentum they can go pretty far, otherwise I think they will not go through the group stage.

Well I think that TCM/MYM/coL/Tyloo could take 3rd in their group, but since I was trying to give a realistic shot on what the groups could end where NaVi would have the easiet way to win the post groupstage matches I said TCM. Since 1st from B will meet 3rd from A.
Because I think NaVi vs. TCM is 95/5, and NaVi vs. MYM/coL/Tyloo would be like 80/20... : )

honestly, group A is much weaker than group B, as everybode noticed, however it was fair enough, because

Group A got: Asia, America, 2nd,3rd,5(/6)th,7(/8)th
Group B got: Asia, America, 1st,4th,5(/6)th,7(/8)th

SK are in fault, because they lost to MYM, so questions about seeding should be asked...

In terms of Group A I can see Fx,mTw for sure, because they are really very impresive; 3rd can be any team....

In group B I have absolutely no idea...:
- if Navi will play like in Europe, they will be 5th/6th in group;
- SK will surely progress, we just saw how they outplayed eSahara and mouz, but could be morally outplayed by MYM... nevertheless, 15-15 against mTw and 16-13 against Fx speak for itself, they are quite equal teams...

- EG are really training so hard lately, but I am not sure, that their competitors level in America (except coL and CNB) can be compaired with Europe, so I would rather say they can make it to 3rd place because of unpredictable tactics and so on, but I really doubt...

- Lions don't think can make it, because they lost to mTw in not close battles....

- Asia also doubt, because project_kr had changes and if it is eSahara... don't want to blame RARA, but friendship and CS are different issues...

So I would say it will be Fnatic/SK/Navi maybe with even equal scores...))

TyLoo: will drop early. They got mad aim but not good enuff tactics or exp to compete with the big guys. Especially since Alex retired too.

TBD: (Will probably be Project.kr except Enemy will cause some surprises but nothing more)

compLexity: Though im cheering for this team they won't make it to the semi finals. They might get top of group. Their biggest challenge is MYM and FX since mTw seems ALOT weaker with Arcadion.

Evil Geniuses: Without Lurrpis Idk How this team will go but I doubt they'll get out of group.

TCM-Gaming: randoms

SK Gaming: f0rest and Get_Right might be mad fraggers but outaiming doesn't win tournaments. We saw that at IEM Europe. They'll drop to Fnatic most likely.

Meet Your Makers: Will cause surprises and upsets.

Lions: Same as MYM. They might beat SK and cause other Upsets. They got good talent on their team. Wouldn't be surprised if i see them at the Quarter Finals

Frag eXecutors: They'll probably be on top of their group. I'll be surprised if they don't make it to the quarter finals at least.

Na´Vi: I think this isn't Na'vi's year. Though they dominated every team in 2010, teams changed this year and it destroyed Na'vi's strats and gamestyle since everything changed. After a few tournaments they'll be gods again but not this one imo.

mTw: They seem like FX when they brought in Pasha. They won't do well this tournament. They need a few more before they put start dominating.

fnatic: They'll probably win this tournament as well. Xizt is the new Get_Right and Pita is a good backup teammate and Delpan can stop Na'vi in their tracks.

We saw how good Fnatic was at IEM even with all the doubting from everyone on Hltv.org. Everyone thought Xizt was a bad and Delpan was bad and Pita was bad...And Xizt ended up being the MVP and Pita was the best backup player on the team with Delpan making amazing picks with his awp. No I'm not a Fnatic Fanboy..I have NEVEr been a Fnatic fan..I dislike Fnatic but I respect them because of the sheer talent their new team has now and you can't doubt such a good team. Fnatic will dominate like they did in 09.

I respect this team too.
But i dont think we can say this is the era of fnatic and deny all the teams just according to 1 tournament.
And I personally believed this time wont be so easy for fnatic to win the title.
