Xperia PLAY reaches playoffs
Eight teams moves on from the second group-stage at Xperia PLAY, entering the final stages of the tournament, which will be played in a best-of-three map single-elimination bracket.
The second group-stage has settled, seeing sixteen teams being cut to just eight remaining. In the "Group of Death" also known as Group B, Lions came short of scoring any points, losing to SK and fnatic, the Swedes decided to leave WO against munkka. SK got the bragging rights against fnatic, sealing a 16-10 win for the top spot.
Danish stronghold mTw topped their group, despite a loss against Online Kingdom in the last match of the group. Joining them in the playoffs are Moscow Five, who advance based on a better round difference than Online Kingdom, with who they were in a three-way tie with (alongside mTw).
In Group D RG-Esports secured first place in the group, following a 16-14 win against TCM-Gaming on de_inferno. The Danes will despite the loss move on to the playoffs.
The last match to finish was Frag eXecutors against mousesports, a battle where the two teams tied, meaning the Polish team advance in first place, with the German squad following in second.
The picture for the playoffs has been painted and the bracket looks as follows:

OK had a better round difference than M5, but the admins decided that the rounds from the face! game didn't suddenly count? :) so M5 went through instead of OK. Why on earth did they even play the game if the rounds didn't count/matter? Every single game should count if it's a groupstage. Great lan, great admins.

Because apparently the admins ignored the players when they confronted them. I just find it funny, a team that did well and better than the other team is out of the tournament. OK beat mTw 16-8 and m5 lost to mTw 7-16.

I'm simply referring to the fact that the rule, which ruled out OK, is the same used at IEM. I'm not picking sides, nor do I agree with how the rulebook for the competition (Xperia PLAY) is set up.
The rulebook had a flaw, we've seen it before, I genuinely just hope tournament could invest the time needed, producing a proper rulebook, to avoid such things. It's a 10year old game for crying out loud.

I dont think it changed, as far as I'm concerned, the was a flaw in the rulebook, as they hadnt copied all lines from their usual rulebook, which is SLAP(LIVE) one, the same organizers who run that even, execute the Xperia PLAY tournament.

and there have been many times when there have been teams faceing off way to early where they would have been the final game etc... games like navi vs mtw early in the playoffs... and many groups of death...
and with a double elimenation bo1 the 2 best teams will allways meet the in the final (allmost)

Meh, counting round difference is kind of dumb in this situation, it's more of "how bad did you beat an awful team" and because they're not playing all 30 rounds they can get started on T side train or something and get screwed because of it.
They should have had this in the rulebook though (not sure if they did or not, but most people claim no), as it's kind of unfair to arbitrarily make up a rule, even if it makes sense.

The tournament broke its own rules. It was said from the very beginning that RD counts in all situations in every series. When the arrangers were confronted they suddenly applied a rule from SLAP that the match between the tied teams counts or something, and not RD in any way anymore.

I know you're happy since your beloved team got through. It was due to an unfair decision though, which you, nor apparently anyone else can see through.

You can't expect people to believe what you say, when you don't have anything to back it up. I am not saying that Freon or SETT.fi are lying, but you have to understand that people want to see the ruleset for themselves, especially since the scenario isn't mentioned in the ruleset on copenhagengames.com.

in THIS PARTICULAR TOURNAMENT the rule was "Round difference in all series", not between the 3 of them in a three-way-tie, which means that the matches against face! should have been counted.

If the rules-book said: "all the rounds counts in both group stages" and "round difference counts to decide wich team advance to final bracket", then this final bracket ir unfair for OK, M5 shouldn't be there.
But I can't affirm it with 100% sure, just as satanioN said, at least in HLTV.org there is no print/file of Xperia rules-book (unfortunely)...

i've talked to few different guys who are there atm and all of them said its Nix0n who did it. If I got the right idea there are no actual admins (?), Nix0n was acting as a consultant and the head admin of the event couldnt cancel his/their decision

ONLY and ONLY if all 3 teams have the exact same rounds is the 4th team kicked and round difference counted again
if AGAIN all three teams have the same RD then they need to replay the matches between the 3 teams
only logical conclusion to me :/
oh and it needs to be MR 30 not MR16 in groups IMO
