The European qualifier for the IEM6 Global Challenge New York has finished, with mTw, Moscow Five and SK Gaming claiming the three slots.
Eight great teams had made their way into the final qualifier and delivered us high quality matches. In the quarter-finals, all four matches went to third map, in order to decide the winning team.
Advancing to the semi-finals were Moscow Five, who would take on mousesports, and mTw who was paired with SK Gaming. Moscow Five were after three maps able to secure a spot to New York, followed by mTw who very convincingly defeated SK Gaming 2-0.
In the fight for the last spot, mousesports and SK Gaming brought us a stellar show, once again going to the third map, to determine the winner. Having been done one map after losing de_nuke 26-24, SK Gaming won two maps in a row, defeating mousesports 16-11 on de_inferno and finishing off on de_dust2 with a 16-7 score line to secure the last European slot for New York.
With the European qualifier over, following teams are now ready for the IEM6 Global Challenge New York:
Evil Geniuses |
Temporary |
Backfire |
SK Gaming |
Moscow Five |
mTw |
ESL is still looking for an Asian team to attend the event, to find out more click here. The eighth and last spot will be handed out to a Brazilian team, through a national qualifier.
The IEM6 Global Challenge New York will take place at the Comic Con exhibition, running October 13-16. HLTV.org will be on site in the Big Apple to follow all of action from the $40,000 tournament.
(In the qualifier I was surprised to see M5 take out Fx 1st round, and equally surprised that mouz gave SK so much trouble)
Hopefully the US teams can give the Euros a run for their money. GL Temporary and EG.
