ESC Gaming win WCG 2011
ESC Gaming have defeated SK Gaming to win WCG 2011 after a 2-1 victory in the final. Poland will now be crowned as three time WCG champions in Counter-Strike 1.6 and take home the cheque for $25,000.
The first map of the final saw the teams face off on de_dust2 with SK Gaming starting as Terrorists. SK made the most of the advantaged side and raced out to an 8-0 lead. ESC managed to claw back and win some crucial rounds to bring the score to 9-6 at the half. SK won the pistol and the following save rounds after the break to extend their lead to 12-6 after eighteen rounds. As we saw in the first half, ESC Gaming regained their composure and set about taking rounds and forcing save rounds out of SK. ESC restricted SK Gaming to no more rounds from that point on and won the first map 16-12.

After the players had setup on stage, the map was changed to de_train. This time ESC Gaming would start on the favoured Counter-terrorist side. SK managed to win a very close pistol round and used this moment to go on a massive streak winning the first half 13-2. The second half started quickly and SK picked up where they left off and ended all hopes for ESC come back. SK won the second map 16-5.
Coming off a great second map win, SK Gaming went into de_tuscan full of confidence and momentum. After nine rounds, SK had a nice lead of 6-3. ESC managed to hit back, but still managed to go into the half 7-8 down to SK Gaming. In the second half both teams gave it everything they have, exchanging round for round. The match came down to the final round with ESC Gaming dealing the final blow winning the match and event 16-14.

Not really, fnatic team 06-10 with the core players carn dsn f0rest is the most successfully team out there.
Also, this tournament wasnt even the Third most important tournament this year due to lack of top teams.

and I meant that the orga for the WCG World Finals was terrible, CS players played on awful monitors and only the final was played in the main stage, they couldve invited some teams or change the stupid rule that says the 5 players need to be from one country so more and better teams could attend.
even the SC2 community is whining about the organization of the tournament and the overall viewing experience, with a crappy website design and awful quality on the VODs.

aaah :) well I kind of like the idea of having 5 players from the same country required, making it sort of a world cup, I do agree they should try and get better tech, and also to try to get the best CS countries teams there rather than some lower caliber teams against some top teams.

Best match of 2011 and alltime imo. Game was really tight sometimes d2 was really easy for ESC they knew how to play in gun rounds on both sides thats why they won it so easily even if score looked 16-12. SK made few times pretty bad tactical fails when they played very slow rounds. SK won train pretty easily as T, but if ESC had got maybe 7-8 rounds as CT they could still have had chance because usually they have pretty strong T side. f0rest was monster during T side and pretty much won rounds example that first pistol he was like 20hp and oneshotted taz 1on1. Last map de_tuscan was so tight that SK could had it too also ESC losed many 1on1 atleast 3. I think crucial thing was that SK lost both pistols pretty easily i dont still understand that second pistol where f0rest was alone in cat while others died outside B. SK had pretty nice comeback with deagles after losing pistol round. Gun rounds were pretty tight both winning after each other. Both teams had chance break other teams money system and that gave tie and win for ESC. Last rounds were really close overall. Imo SK deserved win, but ESC showed them why they are The Golden Five :P

I like SK Gaming but I'm not sad that they lost. For sure it was the best game of the year as we could wish. We can be glad that we have three teams that constantly compete for the post of world leader in CS 1.6 - SK=ESC=NAVI. I hope that the next year we'll see balanced matches like this :)

So deserved. This guys are unique. There is no other team in the world that woul keep playing, going to tournaments with their own money, without an organization sponsoring them for so long theres just no way. Though Polish fanboys make me want to hit my screen at times, you can't help having resspect for the Polish team. It has to be the most consistent team of all times. Though they sometimes have a down period, they keep coming back and win titles again and again. Well done ESC!

Though WCG and ESWC are the biggest title's and have a lot of prestige, you can really count any tournament where all the best teams have participated a "World championschip" for that matter.
