The European qualification stage for IEM6 Global Challenge Kiev has ended, with five teams advancing to the first event of 2012.
Third and final stage of the European qualifier took place Sunday, with thirty-two teams participating, all trying to claim one of the five spots up for grabs. The bracket was stacked with good teams and eventually big names such as ESC Gaming and SK Gaming dropped to the lower-bracket.
The first big upset of the qualifier came in round four of the lower-bracket, when the WCG champions from ESC took on Anexis. The Danes defeated the Poles 16-7 on de_inferno to move on, while ESC missed out on IEM6 Global Challenge Kiev, but more importantly also the chance to participate at the IEM6 World Championship next year.
Not long after, another big upset came. This time in battle between giants, as SK took on Natus Vincere. SK won 16-7 to advance, while Na´Vi, just like ESC, missed out on both the Global Challenge in Kiev, but also a chance to defend their IEM title at the World Championship.
In the upper-bracket Moscow Five secured a spot in Kiev with a 16-13 win against mousesports on de_nuke, while Lions earned their spot by winning 16-4 against WinFakt on de_tuscan. Remaining three spots were handed out to teams in the lower-bracket, SK picking the first with a win against WinFakt, fnatic followed as they won against mousesports.
The last spot was handed to WinFakt, who in a fifth place decider match against mousesports claimed the fifth and final spot for the Global Challenge in Kiev. Note that there will be a seventh place decider match between Na´Vi and Anexis, in the event of any teams backing out or teams unable to attend, a order of replacements will be done this way.
Following teams are now qualified for the IEM6 Global Challenge Kiev:
Evil Geniuses |
Moscow Five |
fnatic |
SK Gaming |
Lions |
|
DTS |
WinFakt |
The eighth and final spot for the event is set aside for an Asian team, but judging from past events, it is not likely a team will be found, which will grant one more spot for Europe.
The last Global Challenge of season six will take place January 19-22 at the Kiev CyberSport Arena, handing out $40,000 in the Counter-Strike tournament, as well as two spots for the World Championship in March.
Following teams have so far, via Global Challenges, qualified for the World Championship:
fnatic |
Winner EM6 Global Challenge Guangzhou |
mousesports |
Runner-up IEM6 Global Challenge Guangzhou |
SK Gaming |
Winner IEM6 Global Challenge New York |
WinFakt |
Runner-up IEM6 Global Challenge New York |
A total of six spots for the IEM6 World Championship will be handed out via the ESL rankings, check the current standings by clicking here.
HLTV.org will obviously be on site in Kiev to bring you all of the action from the opening event of the year, where two teams will qualify for the season six Intel Extreme Masters World Championship.
could you tell how to do a link like in this article ? The second paragraph from the bottom.
"A total of six spots for the IEM6 World Championship will be handed out via the ESL rankings, check the current standings by clicking here"
I wanna do this in my account description for example:
click on a word "NBA" and it would be link it up to www.nba.com
I know that there is [LINK] [/LINK], but you have to write the whole website adress to link it up.

+ NaVi (quota for the Grand Final - NO)
- SK (quota for the Grand Final - YES)
- fnatic (quota for the Grand Final - YES)
This is good)
and also mouz and wf are already qualified for the global finals as well as efuture, since I don't think any team from the Asias will attend and UMX.us

oh well, really nice event, i like how M5 is playing :), and of course SK and WF
1. mouse
2. winner of navi-anexis
3. loser of navi-anexis
Well, there is a chance for Na'Vi but not really for ESC.

That's the reason I wrote the backup-list for Global Challenge Kiev. As ESC is not on this list (or actually, even further down), we can conclude that they will not go WC unless something surprisingly happens.

I'm also very impressed by M5 performance, they were awesome today. Hope to see them in Kiev on top form.
As an example, I don't feel like stating that ESC is the best team in the world if they suck online (as you mentioned).
Wasnt it tuscan nix0n?

secondly, your economy isn't very good right now and your country's debt is larger than ours.
third, how is money equal to education? is education only how much money it'll earn you?
spoken like a true ignorant american kid, eh? :)
And our economy is good enough to be BETTER than your country.
If you HAVE money that means you STUDY(you got education) and you have a job. So you made NO sense at all right there.
"Spoken" like a true ignorant american kid? Well I guess you're a true thought nerd kid over the internet eh? ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_..
Your debt is so much higher, but so is your population, which makes up for it a bit. Again, the reason I mention population.
No, it's not always the case. Also, education is more than jobs and money.
Yeah, good one, I'm a nerd. I bet your one real cool gangstah with that profile picture of yours.
And no, I'm not very tough. In sweden we're able to have discussions and arguments on a civilized level without shooting eachother, and it has nothing to do with the internet.
Of course education is more than jobs and money, if you don't have education you're stupid, correct?
And no I'm not a gangster. Thats just my favorite "singer", I think we all have one.
"goes forward", but we have free health care and we are actully paid to educate ourselves. 310 euros per month or so.
If you're talking about sallary, then yes, it's not as high when educated as it is in the USA. I guess the difference is quite high with certain positions.
Our "middle class" has it far better than yours though, and so does the less fortunate.
Not at all are you stupid because you're uneducated. I just find it extremely funny when people from english speaking countries, most often USA, act like everyone else is retarded because they can't prove their point as well in English as they could have in their native language.
It's not like I expect you speak swedish...
Yes i was talking about sallary.
Better? how so?
Well lets be honest here for a second, If you don't speak English, you can't really travel or leave your own country for nothing, English is the most "important" language out there right now. So yes you DO need to know English. Just saying because most of schools out there are teaching ENGLISH because they know those kids need ENGLISH on their lifes. and I don't think they would teach me swedish...
Well spanish yes and maybe chinese(which is the most "spoken" language out there now.)

Taking your logic (Size > Quality).. Soviet Union has a better economy than Sweden? India has a better economy than Sweden?
Unemployment rate
US = 8.6%
Sweden = 7.5%
GDP per capita
US= $47,184
Sweden= $48,832
US also has higher income inequality and a higher percentage of people who live in poverty
So please, what makes the US economy better than Sweden's???
your economy is good enough to be better than sweden? humm ok it wasnt sweden that started a war and fake a terrorist attack (11 september) just because of the guns and armament trafic.
well wtv there are good americans but mayority they are non sense people that just want to be the king of the world (KING KONG IMAGINATION)
USA is top1 country in my opinion.
Comparing Sweden to US is pointless. Sweden has lower unemployment but debt per capita is higher.
Let's look at Europe, we make a union to be strong LIKE usa.
and i didnt say that sweden has a better economy.
China is.
btw. profits from US bonds are 1.96%, German 2.03%. Even with that big debt people trust in US economy.
btw2. SnP, Moodys, Finch... They made financial crisis (with Alan Greenspan and US gov.). Unfair is that only USA has Raiting Agency...
Are you that dumb kid? Don't ever argue with me again, I'm not even gonna reply your comments for now and on.
You might just be more retarded than the average american.
na`vi out, esc out, mouz out >.<

probably eg will not go to kiev, and they will be replaced by invited team
Post edited 2011-12-19 02:01:30
They had the chance in a double elimination qualifier but yes, everyone would have preferred BO3 LAN qualifier. In this case, it just seems like ESL haven't had the time nor resources to arrange that.
but gj DTS WF m5 EG LIONS fnatic
if i understand correctly tell me why they fucking play 4 nothing?

if both an Asian team and EG will not attend: +mousesports and +Na'Vi/Anexis
OK, but what does it mean? "A total of six spots for the IEM6 World Championship will be handed out via the ESL rankings, check the current standings by clicking here." If they are on that ranking, can they? I don't get it
