sLip leaves UMX.US
Time: 2011-12-26 22:24

In what is the first of likely many moves around the new year in the North American Counter-Strike scene, Ricky "sLip" Cohen has left Ultimax Gaming.

Cohen had been a part of the team ever since it was founded in early 2011 and moved to their team house in Southern California. The team faced another roster change about two weeks ago when Daniel "impsta" Whaley joined to replace Ric "iNERTiA" Bundy who decided to go inactive.

The team recently moved out of their house and with the new year approaching it is currently unknown whether or not UMX will renew their contracts for 2012. ESEA's rosters are locking in six days for the season so if they wish to continue competing in the season, they have to add a new player relatively soon.

Ultimax Gaming USA

Kyle "flowsicK" Mendez
Daniel "impsta" Whaley
Nazar "steno" Vynnytsky
Chris "TRULS" Navratil

It appears that Cohen has teamed up with some of his friends in a lower level US team 21-0 that is currently competing in ESEA Intermediate. HLTV.org was unable to reach Cohen or members of UMX.USA for a comment at this time.

its not dead, at the qualify for IEM Kiev it was like 3000 people at one stream at one match. So that pretty much describes thats its not dead.
:)
2011-12-27 10:32:16
yeah , 3k people out of a population of 300+ millions :P

2011-12-27 11:02:17
only five ppls needed to win anything.
2011-12-27 14:38:51
don`t really get your point , 3k spectators in a country as populated as the USA clearly says uber-low activity
2011-12-27 15:45:44
5 players from a country enough to dominate in cs scene in the world.
2011-12-27 16:15:15
You could say that, but these days you need there to be good teams to play against so you can get your teamwork on the same level as the rest of the top teams. Right now the scene here is pretty dead. We dont feel like we have a team that can compete internationally. Im sure a lot of people could make a "dreamteam" but there is no such team in existence for us at the moment that we could put our faith in to win an international tournament. I dont think B2B is at the level yet, although they are starting to look pretty strong. They will probably just perform mediocre like every other US team has the last few years tho.

2011-12-26 22:44:41
Inactive > You quit something for a long time
2011-12-26 22:45:17
In 99% of the cases they will come back after a month or so.

A player stops playing for the team but does not necessarily leave it.
2011-12-26 22:53:24
ok gt it..i was just bit cnfusd tht why a player will go inactive as soon as he joins a team...dsnt tht team will suffer a loss..i mean they might me playing sm tourneys henceforth! -___-

In this case as far as I know iNERTiA did not go inactive after joining the team.

It is true though that sometimes it happens that right after joining a team a given player goes inactive. I presume it is just because you can't predict what will happen in your real life that may interfere with the CS one.

Smart decision. If you are a part of USA CS, then it's just about time to hang up your mouse or think about doing it very soon. There is zero justification to do anything but pug with your friends, and doing it in a lower level league means less stress and a higher chance of payout.

2011-12-27 21:48:24
who is slipLMAO
2011-12-27 07:40:29
why they change ppl so fast when steno join? :/
2011-12-27 11:21:23
The changes are not because naz joined; they're because dizzaman left....well, that plus poor results.

Dizza leaving meant the original five were split up, and from then on the whole team wasn't living in one house, which was probably the team's defining characteristic.

He was also one of their better fraggers and igl, and any team losing a player in those roles would drastically affect it. For instance, imagine Lions losing threat.

Throw on top that it took a few months for them to settle on steno, which was only a couple months before the end of their contract with umx, and you have a recipe for change.

I also think their results have been less than impressive, so why would the players want to stay on the team? For instance, IMO, haven't done that great in ESEA. They're 7-4, which seems ok until you look closely at those results. They've lost to:

Sync, who's 3-8
EG 16-10, yet EG doesn't practice
Deja Vu, who's 3-7
B2B (their only acceptable loss IMO)

and only two of their wins were impressive, one against x6 (where they DID look good, though x6 lost both of their matches that week on tuscan) and another against crev (though crev is brand new to invite).

Finally, it's great UMX is willing to send them abroad to lans, but they keep losing qualifiers to get invited, so that's obviously no good.
