Two months after the initial release, the development team has finally broke the silence by releasing new information about the beta.
A post on twitter has informed the community that the awaited expansion for the Beta is set to be released tonight.
If you are in the forums betting on when we are going to expand the beta - I want to place my bet. I put $1000 on today. - Valve tweets
Sal "Volcano" Garozzo's feedback session may have proven to be helpful in the development of the game, as the changelog for the beta has a total of 85 lines, including more maps and weapons.
This update will not only feature more in-game content but also more players, as they've announced that they will be inviting more people to play the beta.
Stay tuned at HLTV.org as we will continue to bring you updates on the development of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
seriously, i don't wanna see 1.6 players leaving.
but the chances of that happens, to me, is like 1%. and even if that will not be as good as 1.6, we'll lose a lot of players... in such a hard time already.
In the professional scene, the game has become stagnant whether you want to believe it or not. Long gone are the days where teams come from every corner of the world and give each other a run for their money. The only teams that do any damage are in Europe. American and asian teams are a joke at these international events and its mostly because the best and brightest from those regions have stopped playing and the growth of the game has fallen to a crawl compared to Europe.
My hopes are with CS:GO, with better graphics and 1.6 gameplay. That's my dream.
and it's true that 1.6 isn't going to last for many more years on a competitive level, but if u look at the current scene there are a LOT of good teams. prize money has decreased a little bit however there is still a lot of great players and plenty of events in different European countries, ur talking as if 1.6 is dead already
i mean just look at 2010,no one ever heard of na'vi,they just came, owned everyone, and teams like winfakt, mandic, anexis started to appear/re-appear and make a pretty good impression aswell,in present,i think winfakt is a pretty strong name in the communit
2011: moscow five made her way through pro-gaming
and i'm sure many new teams will make a good impression throughout the year
i've chosen teams that came in my mind, there are many others

CS1.6 is abandon, and terribly outdated, with no hope of any new development from the developers.
I say bring on CS:GO, and keep sitting back and watch CS1.6 dissipate, because that's all you're doing.
This sort of thing happens with every community in its transitional period from one game to another. When the fighting game scene was making the big switch from Third Strike(1999) to SF4(2008), a lot of "hardcore/oldschool" players claimed SF4 was a dumbed down version of Third Strike and that it could never play as well and while there is truth to that statement, SF4 reignited the scene and brought back a golden age for fighting games.
What I'm trying to say is, whether you like it or not, we need a new game. 1.6 will never die but it certainly is getting less and less fun with all the players leaving and teams disbanding in both the professional and amateur scene.
Deploying new code to servers. The servers will bounce shortly. When they return they will be unavailable until the client is pushed down.

aLL THE FUCKING TIME
fistly valve was critizised for not including the opinons of the cs community.
now after they even let pros play cs go, they still are working on a better version
ACKNOWLEDGE THIS GUYS
NOONE IS FORCING YOU TO SWICH.
and by the way THIS IS NOT CS 2
+
watch Schyphers statement & facts towards Hl3,
CS 2 and CS GO.
i personally think: CS : GO can be seen as a game, that should help VALVE to create THE PERFECT new game. / version of 1.6.
and i am utterly sure , CS 2 and HL 3 will be featured on an awesome new engine, wich will beat everything.
remember that Gabe Newell once made a statement about that. He said they were developing something , that would beat everything, and they have been working on it for 5 years.
GL Valve
People should stop saying CS 1.6 > CS:GO. Because CS:GO can't be a game against CS 1.6. It's a mainly console game and you're thinking it will replace a game like CS 1.6? Seriously?
We know CS2 will be out before HL3. All we need to enjoy 1.6. Because 1.6 has more years to end. . And I'm sure CS2 will kick 1.6's ASS!
i want to see how many players will be still playing CS:GO next week. :)
Also Valve can't announce CS2 until CSGO's release.

damn i havent installed cs since last year :(
sad :(
For us it is all about the community. Are you active in the community? Are you playing CS now? To reward the most active players, this week we are giving Beta access to the top 7000 active players around the world in CS:S and CS 1.6. We are also giving out additional keys to the top 500 players of CS:GO.

CS 1.6 > CS:GO
Desperatly looking for a key!

And to those thinking that 1.6 players would definately move on (?) and join CS:GO, that would be awesome, meaning the game would actually run as great as we all want/expect.

You can't really judge this game before it's official.

imo, inferno is 100% crap!! biggest fail... when I saw the banana, I was like "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!"
Everything is bigger... so that console players wont bump into the walls.
Also, I'm 100% sure valve hired a florist as designer... flowerpots everywhere!!!

i really like visual aspects of de_nuke, but i'm afraid that it's not gonna be competetive at all...
"Garozzo is currently playing CS:S for team Dynamic"
I stopped reading there...
sad
smh
"Garozzo is currently playing CS:S for team Dynamic" means he thinks CS:S is a good game cuz he likes it.
so...
you 1.6 diehard faboys make me clueless
He was a sick player in 1.6 and he's a sick player in css(I asume, atleast he was during CGS)
Post edited 2012-02-17 10:58:42
I do think that CSS decline 1.6 gameplay. That's why CSS wasnt able to replace 1.6 in competition.
We need a new game from valve (HL3 for exemple) with a complete new engine, with a powerfull and free SDK.
Then, CS community devs could be able to create an addon, just like they did with CS (betas), and then sell it to Valve.
I dont like players to quit 1.6 and play GO :$
Post edited 2012-02-15 14:41:59
It still needs work, maps need redesigning (Make them more like 1.6 maps than source), bugs need fixing and other things like the notification when you change firing type with a glock is just bollocks at the moment and classic crosshair is just screwed.
Still, m4 is now a viable weapon, which is a huge step up from before!
CS: GO for more source of communities
Game on in 1.6
cs 1.6 live
When the 1.6 over it's over for me too
http://counterstrikego.com/2012/02/csgo-beta-expan..
"For everybody else, Valve will be releasing a short survey in coming weeks that players can fill out in order to be added to the list for getting a CS:GO beta key. We’ll let you know the moment that survey appears. For now here’s the full changelog for today’s CS:GO patch:"

Running out of patience :(
So what does this means more exactly? What is the criteria to determine the most active 7000? The total number of hours I spent in the game all time? And how can I figure out what "rank" do I have ? =)
