India Gaming Carnival has announced a $40,000 tournament at their event, which will take place April 6-8 just outside the country capital New Delhi.
At first the India Gaming Carnival had announced that Counter-Strike: Source would be the game of choice for their 2012 event, but after having received feedback from the Indian community, the organizers determined through a public vote that Counter-Strike 1.6 was far more popular, and therefore opted to make the switch.
The tournament is set to feature a $40,000 prize purse, out of $300,000 for the entire event, which will feature games such as DoTA, COD4, NFS, SF4 , SC2, as well as poker and snooker tournaments.
Very little information has been released by the organizers WTF eventz, only available information is the location of the event, which will be the Ayatti-Caparo International Center in the Noida area outside of New Delhi.
The event has two partners listed, the Yuvraj Singh Foundation and Zomato, a ticketing and booking service. A spokesman from the event has announced in our forums, that an announcement is to be made on February 15, which will be aimed at the international audience.
Unfortunately the event will collide with the Danish event Copenhagen Games, the Danish event runs April 4-8 in the same venue as the previous two years.
I think its very good for the indian teams that CPH Games is on the same day, because if ALL the big teams in 1.6 went to India, it would be very hard for indian teams to win some money in this event. But now I think they have more chance. Not saying they are bad, but they wouldn't beat top10 world teams... I think this is FANTASTIC for the indian teams, and maybe some international teams.
1.6 is AWESOME!
2012 is going to be an amazing year for 1.6!
Now Indians hv jumped in e-sports too!
Better watch out people!

And you know what will be even worse? If all the top teams will attend this event, they will pay the checkin+the avia issues+hotel etc. and the orga will not pay the prise. God, that will be pure inhumanity.
(!) It will be a great idea to do something like a flashmob to get arbalet back, atleast for one tournament/year, cause we really need him now. We the cs community MUST get him back. We have to show that our game can still be alive. Nothing will happen if we will sit in our chairs and say "hey cs is dying", NO, this is wrong. Who then will keep it alive?

WCG 2008 CS 1.6 TOTAL PRICE : 102.500$
ESWC 2011 CS 1.6 TOTAL PRICE : 33.000$
WCG 2011 CS 1.6 TOTAL PRICE : 33.000$
- EPS France dropped CS
- EG release their cs team
- mandic shutdown their cs team
- EPS Germany %50 price cut
CS:S died, CS 1.6 will die and will reborn with CS2.
but last paragraph proves that how CS 1.6 is BIG!

Don't ruin it, please. We have a little number of tournaments. We all know that there is some months till the tournament, and you can still change the dates. That will be a great act of tolerance.
(sorry for replying you)

It's quite impressive to see a new tournament with such high prizes, in India, a country that never had a major tournament or something... its great
Zomato is not actually a chain of restaurants ... but they facilitate ticketing and booking for various things including parties, events and restaurants. They are the ticketing partner here as well
Its not unfortunately, yes maybe for the topteams. but not for the indian scene.
So...me not representing the organizers but as an Indian - take this opportunity to invite everyone to this event :) From hltv.org users to the teams, plz do come to India and I'm sure we will make it worth your while and time.
This is freaking SICK, I LOVE INDIA NOW!!!! :) OH MY GOD THIS IS AWESOME.
Thank you India.
where are they who say 1.6 is dead ? HAHAHAHAHA

Something called ''supporting''.
Sad people like you will never help esport in india grow with the potential we have. :(
Max is a friend and I know he's aware of where things can go wrong. Sponsors alone mean nothing. Events are people driven.
Unexpected gives more motivation and great support to enhance the talent.... Hoping management rethink about dates and make the event remembering....!!! ^_^
Welcome All TEAMS!!!
CS 1.6 is a game of other world !!
I'll go to india and do some roast then cows will pass from being sacreds to ur favorite food xD
*BOOM* INDIANS ENTERED THE STAGE!
