India Gaming Carnival with $40,000
India Gaming Carnival has announced a $40,000 tournament at their event, which will take place April 6-8 just outside the country capital New Delhi.
At first the India Gaming Carnival had announced that Counter-Strike: Source would be the game of choice for their 2012 event, but after having received feedback from the Indian community, the organizers determined through a public vote that Counter-Strike 1.6 was far more popular, and therefore opted to make the switch.
The tournament is set to feature a $40,000 prize purse, out of $300,000 for the entire event, which will feature games such as DoTA, COD4, NFS, SF4 , SC2, as well as poker and snooker tournaments.
Very little information has been released by the organizers WTF eventz, only available information is the location of the event, which will be the Ayatti-Caparo International Center in the Noida area outside of New Delhi.
The event has two partners listed, the Yuvraj Singh Foundation and Zomato, a ticketing and booking service. A spokesman from the event has announced in our forums, that an announcement is to be made on February 15, which will be aimed at the international audience.
Unfortunately the event will collide with the Danish event Copenhagen Games, the Danish event runs April 4-8 in the same venue as the previous two years.

I think its very good for the indian teams that CPH Games is on the same day, because if ALL the big teams in 1.6 went to India, it would be very hard for indian teams to win some money in this event. But now I think they have more chance. Not saying they are bad, but they wouldn't beat top10 world teams... I think this is FANTASTIC for the indian teams, and maybe some international teams.

china has been in esports a lot longer and see where they are... if anything... they should be more talented so don't have your hopes too high... the internet conditions are still bad in india so they cannot practice against top teams all the time... this tournament will be good to get more people interested... but it won't do anything to raise the level of gameplay... for that you need regular attendance in top tournaments... which you know is impossible...

Maybe. That's pretty sad he stopped his activity. He did more than three tournaments per year, and what now? We all know - after his retirement there was/is a little crysis in the cs scene. And because many orgas don't pay the prisecash, many pro players are retired now. Sad story.
And you know what will be even worse? If all the top teams will attend this event, they will pay the checkin+the avia issues+hotel etc. and the orga will not pay the prise. God, that will be pure inhumanity.
