SK Gaming have announced that they will not be flying to Moscow this weekend to play the TECHLABS Cup final against Natus Vincere.
A semi-final win against KerchNET secured SK a spot in the TECHLABS Cup final, set to be played in Moscow this weekend. The team today issued a news post via their website, stating that they will not be in Moscow this weekend. In the news no reason behind the cancellation was given, just underlining the fact that the team will not be going.

f0rest & co. won't go to Moscow
TECHLABS held a press conference today, in which they declared Natus Vincere the victory in TECHLABS Cup, which award them the main prize of $10,000 and SK will get $5,000.
While there will be no final, the organizers arranged a show match between Natus Vincere and Moscow Five on Sunday, so people showing up at the MEGA shopping center will still have a match to watch.

Though, SK might have their reasons. I don't know that much about this situation. In general, though, teams shouldn't be able to forfeit a LAN and still get the prize money.

Now SK is too weak..
Na'Vi RULES!!
Practice what you preach x)
Do you understand Indian ?
Post edited 2012-03-15 20:30:37
anyway the indian guy just meant that it was written in english and not a language that "few" understand like french.. Yes i know french is spoken in many countries but certainly not as many as english.
Ofc. more people learn english in school as a 2. or 3. language. :)
oui
Does that comes under managing?? or just an opinion?

At least for their fans...
Na'Vi raping M5! Let it be in honor of Xek :)

1) Paid already air tickets in both directions.
2) Paid for hotel accommodation
3) Paid for food and other little things.

srry for bad eng.
So if they spend 3-4k on travel and hotel, then end up losing, they go home +$1,000. If they win they go home +$6000. But if they don't even go they still end up +$5000.
Smart financial move, but sucks for the CS community.
Actually rumors say that SK players are in a conflict because of the iem champ...

"KerchNet won over the M5 in the first stage of playoff and by this M5 got 5-8th places in the event. The same time our team lost in semifinal to SK Gaming and per logic after such situation with SK Gaming this slot should be transferred to us. I hope that it's just misunderstanding and two Ukranian teams will play in the final" '

Argentina sucks totally
It will be nice to watch match Na`Vi vs M5 :)
i guess TECHLABS rules should be prepared for that
The TECHLABS rules are already prepared for that as far as I understand it, one of the finalist is not going to play the final the assisting team wins.

it should've a 3rd place decider between knet and fnatic, so one of them would fly to moscow :)
Thus the final decision, on whatever basis is was made, was up to TECHLABS. Their money their rules in the end if this suits their interests better.
Just my opinion, of course.
" SK could not attend due to visa issues."
There you go
+ anyone
The only reason SK actually win games is cause of the skill of f0rest, get_right and trace (previously Delpan).
Why the hell would you play so passive when you have 3 of the best aimers in the world. If they played fast and aggresive they would never lose a round.
Instead, Robbans strats end up being, "camp until theres 30 seconds left in the round then walk into markeloffs awp 1 by 1"
sometimes you have to play agresive...
SK did the realistic thing here. Considering the two teams are from Sweden and Ukraine and the final is in Russia, I think it's obvious which one would "give up". If the finals were at Denmark (let's say that), wanna bet what would happen?
Giving up, in this case, means five grand in the pocket, since they rightfully won the online qualifiers.
We, spectators, lose a great match, but it's kinda expected. Yes, they knew it from the beggining and went for the second place. Can you blame them?
well maybe its not 5k... but the profit margin would be to slim to make it worth their while -_-

Why should Na'Vi now have to travel there just for a silly show match, when they have already won 1st place.
And who is going to spectate a show match? The sponsors of this tournament will be pretty pissed about this too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd.. ---> Very interesting interview by c58|dimonnn aka the owner of cyberfight.ru portal with the organizers of TECHLABS Cup that brings some light on the situation with SK skipping the final, about why they do it, about the prizes for the showmatch between M5 vs Na`Vi and much, much more. Too bad for the audience the interview is in Russian only :((
Well, here are a couple of major topics that were discussed in that interview:
First of all the oganizers are saying that SK are not being professional at all as the organizers were trying to get in touch with them and confirm thier arrival to Moscow for the past 3 weeks now, but SK simply ignored them. TECHLABS Cup organizers even paid not returnable plain tickets and reserved a good hotel for all five SK Gaming players, but SK still refused to come to the final with Na`Vi. Recently SK finally gave their reason on why they cannot come to Moscow. What they told the organizers was really weird. They said that they are not able to come to Moscow because if they lose to Na`Vi on that particular final one of SK's players might be kicked from the team permanently. This really sounds weird, but it's an official reason by the Swedes. Most likely it's just an excuse and SK will remain having all the same players on the team, they just had to come with a reason for not showing up. Anyway, it is weird, because Moscow paid all the expenses themselves for the Swedes and they still don't want to come...strange...
Another topic that was touched in that interview is the prizes for the showmatch between M5 and Na`Vi. It's gonna be a hot and interesting battle between the two giants because the organizers want this match to be as interesting as it would be against SK, so the TECHLABS promissed to pay the $ in prizers for each round that either team will win. So, in other words, for each winning round there will be a dollar value attached to the winner of the round, so the match should really be interesting.
That's all I can provide from the interview at the moment. These are probably the main topics touched in there, but there's some more to it...
False info, one player was risking to get cut from school, not from team.
you are a looser!
1) Paid already air tickets in both directions.
2) Paid for hotel accommodation
3) Paid for food and other little things.
Read what GT said before posting silly comments ^^
I saw them today while they were playin
It is true...
But with this kind of behavior, they are even more disrespectful than any tournament-host ever was.
They shouldn't get any money at all, yet pay a compensation to Techlabs.

Why don't you run and cry to the Danish embassy to give them a Visa?
I have serious doubt that SK will have any profit if they will be only the second, BUT(!) they knew everything about the conditions.
They knew, they have to travel if will be in the final.
They knew the prizes.
So if we talking only about the money, it should be a clear decision at the beginning of the tournament, is it profitable or not?
Should they apply for it, or not?
They din't get any disadvantage, like, prizes lower then at the beggining and so on.
And if they apply, they should go at the end.
Would've done the same.
