After months of inactivity, Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen is looking for a sponsorship to attend GameGune 2012 with a team composed of members of the former Finnish WinFakt squad.
The team consists of five of the six players who represented WinFakt in 2011 as Timi "aslak" Verkkoperä will be starting his mandatory military service in early July and won't be able to participate.
According to Kovanen, the team will start practicing upon his return to Finland next week if they believe they have a reasonable chance at finding a sponsorship to attend GameGune 2012.

lurppis & co wish to attend GameGune
When asked for a reason for the return, Kovanen stated both his brother Niko "naSu" Kovanen and Samu "plastE" Aalto were eager to compete again and said he could not turn down a chance to play with four individuals he enjoys playing with.
Furthermore, he wanted to confirm that his team does indeed have a spot for the tournament, so the problem other teams have faced due to the tournament being full will not affect the squad.
ex-WinFakt for GameGune:
Kimmo "BASiC" Fagerholm
Jirka "jigetus" Ryhti
Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen
Niko "naSu" Kovanen
Samu "plastE" Aalto
If you're interested in sponsoring the ex-WinFakt squad to GameGune 2012 which takes place on July 26-29 in Bilbao, Spain, you can contact Kovanen via e-mail at paistit@gmail.com.

allu + H^N
srry4mybadenglish:D!
For example SK has GeT_RiGhT and f0rest who mostly plays CS:GO but can still play 1.6 atm, Delpan is pretty inconsistent and when he isn't on fire then SK will probably lose. Stupid thing that you say while eating and drinking...
naSu? LOL his time has passed.
plastE? Not on form.
They won't have aslak, but they could have bringed in H^N and allu which are better atm than plaste and nasu.
nasu and plaste called up lurppis, basic and jigetus to play with them not vice-versa!
It's pretty obvious that this is a mix of some very good friends nothing more, so asking for changes is plainly retarded!
ffs 4 of this 5 players haven't been active for quite a while now!
nasu and plaste have always been better than allu and h^n.

if any one has doubt see this PURE TALENT and SKILL http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=198&&offset=0&..
you act like it's a guarantee two out of the maybe 30 similar level players in finland over the years would have developed to be as good as two of the top five players in our country's history - that makes no sense.
they COULD have developed into something better, but so far they have not.
getting eco frags on the inner site of de_train doesn't make him an amazing player.
by the way, we could ask people from that team, and everyone would say nasu is at least the second best player on every winfakt team we ever had. that should speak volumes to forum users.
ex-winfakt was better for one event, and at inferno online challenge they got raped by a team below their level. inconsistent =! good.
i've proven to be good at fragging on top of calling (e.g. 3rd best fpr and pistol player at e-stars, best entry fragger at e-stars and sec, 4th best fpr at iem guangzhou, 4th best rifler at sec, 3rd best pistol player at iem guangzhou etc) so one opinion where you've watched us lose a few tournaments against sk and then saw winfakt score a lucky (yes, the fact they sucked at IOS right after while SK got better proves it was a fluke) win over SK and Na`Vi doesn't really shake me.
here's an interesting fact: if i was playing at copenhagen games instead of driim (with basic calling) we would have done a LOT better. i fully agree basic called great there and his style worked well because people didn't know what to expect, but that didn't last long as you saw at the next tournament (after which basic stopped calling even before the team died).
here is driim's contribution statistically: 0.472 FPR and -34 in playoffs. hardly a difference maker.
i didn't play well in 2012 mostly because i had zero motivation to play after realizing how annoying allu was, but at least i have played well for years before that, unlike anyone else on that list (except nasu and plaste).
Post edited 2012-06-30 16:34:37
allu's rep must come directly from him getting that eco ace vs na`vi at copenhagen games because it's the only legitimately impressive game number wise he has had. anything else, i would expect both nasu and plaste to easily do what he did.
h^n is a different case because he could never get used to the steelseries mice, so i have no idea how good he could have been. he's a nice guy to have on a team but he isn't good at communicating, and he seemed fairly underwhelming the entire time in winfakt.
i haven't played with plaste for a while because i've been in north america but considering he has been playing cs for a month now, it's safe to assume he is on a good enough level to be better than allu or h^n.
i still don't understand where the allu praise comes from, i can only imagine it's that one na`vi game with the eco ace.
besides, raw aim is a completely worthless way to judge players because your aim is heavily affected by your positioning and smarts - if you're a moron and keep taking bad peeks over and over again, even the best aim won't save you.
he is inconsistent but he is insane at times. only he could pull of rounds like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttvb4SsKh3s
link: http://www.hltv.org/?pageid=188&matchid=10261
watch that game from nasu's pov and you will understand. besides, like i said he had 0 hours on steam before setting up at IOS for that match.
ps. that clip was from last sept, hardly the past
LOL
When he was in WF he was the lowest in the team. You just defend him like that because he's your brother, because he's not good anymore.
Stop replying to me ass.

I'm not speaking about my own team not being invited, but teams like Virtus.Pro and KerchNET are getting denied for these guys apparently, and that is a damn shame.
had all the teams who are now asking for an invitation already applied for one when the event was announced they would have all received one, but they didn't do so until the last minute - and for that, all they have to blame is themselves.
i don't see why you would bring up our motivation but i guess you're entitled to your opinion.
there will be some news soon about the second part of your message, both teams will get to attend after all :).
Not sure why you are talking about the last minute, the event is more than a month away?
Can't expect everyone to apply for an invite the second they announce the event, especially since the GameGune organisation doesn't seem too fond of responding on emails. I remember last year when we found out 1 or 2 weeks before the event we could attend..
Actually I take back my words on your team then, I hope you proof me wrong about your motivation :)
Still GameGune organisation could you some improvements communication-wise...
i've learned years and years ago that you should apply for invites etc early on to avoid problems and it's something most people don't really think about it seems - for events like this, it's fairly easy and quick to send an e-mail and even ask them to hold a spot for you while you figure out your situation (which is what we did a month ago).
as far as responding to e-mails goes, i've always had my e-mails answered quickly dating all the way back to the 2006 and 2007 events which i attended. can't speak for anyone else though.
+dRiim
-plastE
+allu
they ex-Winfakt cited is low.
On the other hand, its very sad to hold a spot if you wont be making the trip :/

And yes you have control on how long you can serve there, unlike you say.
What excuse did you give the army to skip service? "backpain?" " I have to play CS" ? :D
Wishing you the best,
second lieutenant mooN
You have some control I'm sure, but my brother was going to be sent for the extra school to become some officer (which lasts a year) so he started missing in the shooting exercises etc on purpose to become more average so he wouldn't have to.
contE wanted out of army ASAP and he was forced to become a driver there because he had a license to drive trucks. Once again, no control.
I'm sure you can do little thing to try to shift things one way or another, but ultimately it's not up to you. I haven't skipped my service, not that it really matters considering how big of a joke military service is.
Your brother was not going to be sent anywhere. If he was going to, he was going. Maybe they invited him to the interview but that's what the interview is for; you can say "I dont want this shit".
contE probably became a driver cause he was peeing in his pants infront of the officers and didnt dare to say no firmly.
I dont know what youve done with your service but you havent served for sure. 6months is easier than 13 months in civil service imo and you dont have to explain the rest of your life why you didnt go to the army :\
conte actually yelled at his lieutenant etc and got stuck in army for weeks without a weekend at home as a result. he definitely didn't just accept it.
i don't see why you keep bringing up my army service status, seeing as it's not in any way your business, but don't worry, i'll go serve my six months soon. i've postponed it, which clearly isn't exactly a hard process.
i don't see why you would have to explain anything, i guess it's one of those things you value once you've gone through it because otherwise you'd realize how big of a waste of time it was so it makes you feel better about it.
besides, i don't wanna live in finland in the future anyways, but like i said, i'd rather get it over with in six months and would rather spend a year in army over 13 months in civil service.
if a war broke out, i would gladly leave and find a new country to live in, a piece of land isn't worth dying for imo, especially when it's geographically in such a bad place.
Post edited 2012-07-01 23:40:41
If you wanna do your service in 6 months it's easy. You just write on ALL the papers you get "I have no previous leadership skills / I am not interested in leading" or "People do not depend on me" or " People do not ask me for advice". And dont take the IQ test too seriously.
And if some weird reason they still invite you to the officers interview you say my girlfriend in US is pregnant or any other bs reason. "i need to finish my degree" etc
Why would contE yell at his lieutenant for becoming a driver when it's his captain that decides it, he shouldve just gone to talk with him privately.
If you score well on your tests and seem like a guy that dont have any future plans they like to put you to more than 6 months :>
edit: Apparently lurppis explained it well, I had reloaded the page earlier and didn't see his reply ;)

lurppis: Prepare for trouble!
nasu: And make it double!
lurppis: To protect the world from devastation!
nasu: To win Gamegune for our nation!
lurppis: To make fun of the unfortunate guys we dont love!
nasu: To pretend were amazing and sponge off our bruv!
lurppis: lurppis!
nasu: nasu!
lurppis: Team Roccat, blast off at the speed of light!
nasu: Surrender now, or prepare to fight!
plaste: plaste! That's right!
(Gotfrag joke)
btw semXorah will be there? :D
P.S. it would have been really interesting to see ruuit in action instead of Basic. No offence, just memories...
Post edited 2012-06-29 01:52:02
but allu is also great player.
btw, have fun at GG guys
So, plaste is related to Kovanen brothers or what? They don't share the same name, so I thought it would be cousins related or somethin.
btw off-topic, "both his brother" could also mean that there are 2 brothers besides him, am I wrong?
ex : "both his parent Luke and Julie are doing something."
is that a right sentence?
Sorry, I'm just curious about it haha :D
basic calling strats got them further for one event before bombing at the next one, at which point he gave up on calling. lesson: randomness pays out because teams don't know what to expect. we plan on trying to capitalize on that if we find funding.
+ Basic isn't really himself anymore, he's gone way downhill in my opinion.
naSu for president I hope! Does he have a user here?
they did well because everyone hit theirs shots at the right times to give them breaks and no one knew what to expect. we won't run around like morons, but we won't play the way i'd play with the perfect team because i don't think it's the right call here, probably more of a roccat approach.
basic struggled ever since he mindfucked himself at the fnatic semi-final in guangzhou but he's been playing a lot and hopefully he'll be back to his normal self.
i think they all have accounts here (can't recall usernames) but i've only seen either one post once or twice ever.
i think that match had a huge toll on him and he let it get into his head a little too much. it's good to be bummed, but he went a bit too far and lost some of his confidence in the process imo.
this is my dreamteam of finish players so don't disappoint guys :D
<3 movies plastE 5 :D
Or a few console orgs I know have a lot of funding :} which would expand their divisions just a lot of 1.6 teams only look at predominately organisation that have had 1.6teams in the past

Post edited 2012-06-29 16:03:45
but I've helped out a load of teams in the past it's only putting them in contact with the right people not really anything off my back - if you've achieved in any game it's just knowing who to contact and how to model it, like I said there is definitely a higher percentage of teams with half/full sponsorship in cod/css than in 1.6 - from experience trust me :p
would be wrong to suggest that i'm only looking at the obvious choices though, seeing as all of my organizations in the past (serious gaming, roccat, crack clan/power gaming, winfakt) were not predominantly cs organizations until my team joined them.
feel free to offer advice though, as i said, i'm not aware of organizations that only support other games.
k1ck > Winfakt
(that's why you deleted my post :c ? cause I said that kick beats this shitty line up anytime, anywhere?)
i would love to play k1ck at gamegune, but last time i played a portuguese team we won 16-2 starting as terrorists on de_nuke (at eswc vs defs, whose win over anexis is more impressive than anything k1ck has done in 3 years), so the game might not be very interesting.
in your wet dreams .
Go ex-WINFAKT!!!
Sad for aslak ....
i`ve seen that is winfakt 2011. well, seems like lurPISS has something with allu, because allu and H^N wanted to kick him out of the team. he should be more aware of his value as cs player and why they did that. winfakt was better with any player then lurPISS.
they wanted to win, and with lurPISS was imposibru!
i hope they wont get a sponsor for this event... but i`m pretty sure hltv.org will find one for them or even sponsor them.
fuck this shit.
Post edited 2012-06-29 17:44:32
i don't feel the need to comment on the rest of the story because clearly you lack basic understanding of cs and i'm not interested in teaching you for the sake of one argument.
infact, the only thing you will be remembered for (and a big IF) is that your ex team did 2 times better in one tournament then they did with you in 2 years.
you clearly aren't aware of what went down from 2005 to 2010 so i wouldn't expect you to know anything. winfakt was the team i played on right before retiring, it wasn't me anywhere near close my better years :)
So that means that your level now is even worst? since you have not played the game too much lately.
what is your goal in gamegune, to spend some holidays in spain? nice! i feel you bro!
i haven't played a single round since iem 6 wc which is why i know i can easily motivate myself to playing enough to be good again, i just need breaks after 8 years of attending big events.
you clearly haven't been to bilbao but it isn't exactly a holiday spot, i wouldn't want to travel to bilbao with an 8 hour layover in germany if it wasn't for the competition and if i didn't think we could do something there. if we go, i'll have to take off four days of work too which adds to a pretty nice sum of money that i will miss out on (which can pay for a 1-2 week vacation), so that's not it at all.
you clearly have magic powers.
Bilbao is a good place to spend some time. The city has a great cultural, social and architectural importance.
Holidays is not always about beach and bitches.
btw, good luck to gamegune. I hope you guys can get a good sponsor and be at good shape there!
cheers

if they didn't play randomly, what might be the reason for getting demolished at their next tournament? they must have just turned to shit if it wasn't random?
i never had the role of a fragger in my teams because i was the in-game leader, i'm not supposed to put up the same numbers as the people whom our play revolved around :)
aslak is good, but he isn't one of the best finnish players in history, he is far too inconsistent for that.
if his career lasted longer there is a good chance he would have become a better player overall (and not to take anything away from him, he has a giant upside because of his skill level) but the inconsistency (which is directly related to how many hours he has on steam, something we refuses to recognize himself) is his main problem.
Post edited 2012-06-30 16:15:16
If nothing else, I'll finish it next week or the week after that because I'll be at work and have nothing better to do once reddit runs dry. Expect WinFakt article to follow fairly soon after.

Play hard for 2 months then quit for irl issues or change lineup. Really retarded. Who wants to support players like that?
Ever heard of "professional" athletes who stop working out for a few months since it's not fun?
exactly, nice comparison. playing hard for a month is what it takes to do well at a tournament a month from now.
Well I did think you consider yourself as professional e-sports athlete. But now that I think about it maybe not. I mean, professionals get paid, they train regularly, have healthy eating habits, dont drink on tournament days, regular sleep patterns, also exercise regularly evenif your just a pro chess player. I guess you are right. Let us consider you good amateurs then with great potential. I wonder how much better you could do if you would train as professionals instead, maybe even win a big competition :>
i don't think i have ever called myself a professional, just a competitive gamer. i match the rest of the description but as long as the money is so minimal, it's impossible to put a lot of other things aside continuously, something's gotta give.
ironically the only time i could have considered myself a "professional" was in eg when we were in usa where the practice conditions made it irrelevant whether or not we put more time in the game.

Sounds like your a hypocrit lurppis =)
I'am very disappointed in you son :)
I was not anticipating this, but I'd figure out that a guy with such personality as yours would have some double moral.
