WinFakt drop CS team
WinFakt have announced that they have decided to cut all bonds with their Finnish Counter-Strike 1.6 division.
The Finnish team, which attended 3rd Generation Intel Core Challenge by Inferno Online this past Saturday in Stockholm, is now without a home, as they have been dropped by the Belgian-based organization.
WinFakt signed the Finnish team in August last year, shortly before e-Stars Seoul. The deal was at first only for the South Korean event, but the two sides decided to continue the cooperation.
Since then the team went through several roster changes and after the IEM6 World Championship the team has been without captain Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen, who has stated he's inactive but has not retired. Since the event in March the team has used Miikka "dRiim" Toroi and Janne "Metaphor" Halinen to fill the fifth spot.
WinFakt drop CS team
While representing WinFakt the Finnish team managed to win FireCore 3 and digifest Fall. The time in WinFakt also included podium finishes at IEM6 Global Challenge Guangzhou and New York, as well as Samsung Euro Championship and more recently a third place finish at Copenhagen Games.
The announcement on the WinFakt's website only states that the two sides are parting ways. Kimmo "BASiC" Fagerholm's statement on the team's website reads:
"It's been amazing time be part of WinFakt gaming team and organization. Their support for us has been easily the best I have ever had from organization and there have never been any problems to get some tournament if we wanted to attend and we have had possibility to compete against best teams in the world.
I dont want to comment what is gonna be our teams future and everything is quite open yet, but personally I'm gonna have a break from CS on pro level, even though I'm probably gonna play it again. Big thanks for WinFakt's management and players who have been playing with me during this time, it has been an awesome time."
As Fagerholm's comment states, the future for him and the team is still undecided, with Fagerholm stating he will take a break from the game.

The Finns are currently participating in the fnatic RC PLAY Counter-Strike league, no comments have been made if they will continue or pull out of the league.

lurppis stepping out was the biggest forward movement of winfakt 1.6 team EVER. winning 2 teams they have never won in a bo3 before is not a bad result imo. and dRiim wasnt sadly able to continue the journey with the rest of the team. I dont think your statement makes any sense at all.

You can't really say that Finnish CS is dead since there is still hundreds of players and you can play with 5 finns against 5 finns everyday you want. Think about smaller countries where you dont even have players from your own country and think again...

So much talented finish players but they always fail to make a stable team. If they play for 3/4 months without changing lineups they can easily become top5 but I guess the lack of motivation is too big.
