Our "Frags from the past" collection is back with another action by Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg during his best years in fnatic.
After showcasing his outstanding USP ace against Frag eXecutors, we now present a weapon round against the Finnish players from ROCCAT. Moments after Lindberg picks the first frag out yard, he finds himself in a tough one-versus-four situation which he overcomes with a clever play. Later that event, the Finns came back on track from lower bracket and played fnatic once again in the grand final but the Swedes closed the match with another 2-1 score.
Which ones? Oh I know, the ones that everyone knows about ? I like to see frags that I haven't seen before and no one has ever made a video of instead of shitty anti eco frags.
Oh my fellow Portuguese, but those clips are from 2011 & 2012, the second one I've even saw here on HLTV.org's channel, why do you think this series is called "frags from the past" ? They don't show stuff this early...
First - not that impressive
Second - already on HLTV.org's channel
Third - it's not even f0rest and the clip you're looking for it's in this very article..
Its suspicious you made a clip of f0rest when he was playing in fnatic the same day that fnatic announces the new player. Athid is on to something huh!
Yeah it's worthy of a clip - as is pretty much any 1v4 at that level. But that's all it is really, just another 1v4.
Never saw lurppis write that but I guess he's right! Personally I don't understand why lurppis didn't rush him in that situation? It was pretty reasonable to assume that he had picked up another gun (silencer switch) and had run out of ammo after that spray. Heat of the moment of course, but I just think that he chose the worst possible course of action. Falling back to lobby would have been another option, but I just don't understand why he decided to stay there with his back unguarded. 33% chance of a free kill.
he was clearly going to commit peak when forest tapped the bomb. because forest would have turn + get off the bomb, it's almost a guaranteed kill if he peaks quickly enough after the defuse(assuming he doesn't whiff horribly which isn't exactly a remote possibility given the player in question 3h3h3h3h3h3h3hh3h3).
deadcam showed him effectively right on top of the bomb so that's presumably what his teammate called, it seems like an intelligent play given that information. even when the bomb wasn't tapped right away, it's much more likely that forest walk pushes hut than wraps around to squeaky door, so i don't think the direction he was facing was a mistake either.
he could play the timer and lurk lobby, but gl coming out of hut versus f0rest circa 2010 when he has position on you.
Fair enough, that's a good point! But I do think that he could have suspected it due to the timing - like you said he was practically on top of the bomb and there was no defuse for quite a long time. Moreover, I'm not sure if f0rest was even aware of lurppis' position - after all he killed one and the last one's position was unclear. lurppis could easily have rotated to iron door, in which case it would have made even more sense to expect f0rest to push that (50-50).
In any case it's obviously easy to criticise players who play in the heat of the moment - quite often you don't hear anything in those situations but your heart beating.
I guess I was just disappointed with this clip.
1) Decent HS from a fairly easy defensive position
2) Below-average spray (by f0rest's standards)
3) 1hp kill
4) Nice WB, but questionable play by opponents.
5) Decent gamble, but once again questionable play by opponent.
Sure it's clip-worthy, but not good enough to be a "blast from the past" or whatever they call them.
the baseline assumption in a 1v1 is that the T is going to play the time, and their decisions derive from that.
given that fact, the CT tapping the bomb as soon as possible is the best play because it forces the T to peak as early as possible, or risk allowing the CT to full d.
f0rest's play was a gamble because it severely reduced his time to play with the bomb. in exchange, he is in a great position to kill lurppis if he's peaking aggressively hut or squeaky door.
lurppis' play is based on the fact that f0rest tapping the bomb right away is the highest percentage play for the CT to make, and it is a direct counter to that play.
once lurppis was committed to hut, he had to choose to watch hut entrance or hut window. he gambled hut entrance and was wrong, but i don't think it was a bad choice.
Don't agree with you in full. Yeah he was gambling for the defuse, but the defuse never came. Plan B should be slightly better than "I hope he'll peak door instead of window."
Ultimately 1v1 with the bomb down is advantageous for the T - you have so many options. Reducing this to a 50-50 peak is not the best choice of action.
Ok bro :D I agree about markeloff's last clip. But instead of writing "not bad" which makes you look like an ignorant 9gagger you could think of something else to write.
yes no skill , cuz u can do it , if that shit was on internet i would say that he was using leis, even wih god milacre u wouldntt be capable to do such a sickness
yes i am new, that shit isnt a sick action fo sho- by > mSdoS, oldschool dont like it cuz he cant see skill in that, ofc he got luck but that was amazing
I didn't say it wasn't amazing, it's just that any semi pro player at that point could've done that from the way the enemies were aligned and none was shooting at him.
no they couldnt't. it looks so easy but it is not how you think.
he plays with 3.5 sens and in close range he controled this spray so good like no one else
So by that logic do you think he plays with a big sens just so he cannot control his spray in close range? Of course he finds that suitable to his gameplay and he practiced like hell in those years but again, anyone could've done that.
