According to rakaka, another major tournament organizer World Cyber Games is going to drop Counter-Strike 1.6 as a game title.
Although no official word from the WCG camp has been announced so far, rakaka claims that highly informed sources have told them the olympics of gaming are not going to feature Counter-Strike 1.6 in 2012.
Originally World Cyber Games was rumoured to be dropping PC games altogether and focusing on the mobile platforms, but those rumors were eventually proved wrong by WCG's announcement.

Was WCG 2011 the final event to host a tournament in CS 1.6?
At the time it was assumed that WCG would still feature Counter-Strike 1.6 due to the event being held in China where CS is still regarded as a popular title.
Should WCG go ahead with dropping Counter-Strike 1.6 as a game title, they would be the second major event organizer to do so within a short time frame following Intel Extreme Masters' announcement earlier today.
Follow HLTV.org's @lurppis_ on Twitter.
You just download it and play it.
Don't compare it to CS. Its not a substitute either.
oh wait not just good.. we need awesome FPS... like CS...

nevertheless, 1.6 > LoL
Oh really? You don't say? That's how games work.

I'll help you get the most popular comment in such a black day like today
and it will till the end of gaming(is this possible lurpis? ure so smart kid figure it out)
yes, the community will still live but the game will slowly dissapear... i wasn't playing any cs for more than two month now, got much more interest for Dota2 theese days..
"I think they went by the "blood is thicker than water"-mentality. Also they are aware that CS might only have 1-1.5 years left as the main e-sport title it is today, so it wouldn´t be right to hand over the legacy, which took years to create, to ex-SK players. I personally believe their decision to reject my ex-team members´ project was proven to be the right thing as they never actually were that loyal to each other, as they stated. This was proven last week when two of them joined up with SK, only to leave Gux behind."

These are the same faggots who were talking about dropping PC games and playing mobile-phone games instead.
WTF going with this world?
CS is really dying, this is the last year...so sad
EDIT: Professional 1.6 players undoubtedly are to be blamed for these drops. They make no streams (except few,but still even they rarely) ,and in no way they communicate to fans or help the game, thats for all except Lurppis.

Edit: I still hope that CPL or someone could make big tournaments for 1.6
1.6 > cs:go
Post edited 2012-06-14 22:45:31
Its time to move on for those biggest tournaments with finest sponsors, dont blaim them for doing that. They been extra generous for CS 1.6 in several years of overtime.
In this moment we have it on paper: CS 1.X now officially belongs to the e-sport cultural heritage, 4evah.
so calm down, and have hope
Everything that has a beginning has an end. I see the end coming. I see the darkness spreading. I see death... and you are all that stands in his way.
Fucking asians (im gonna get like 893271 replies for this one!)
only 2 games i love and i will play forever are:
COUNTERSTRIKE 1.6 & (Dota)
and no lobbies behind this names ive metioned earlier can change my opinion
who the hell i have to kick his ass to put cs 1.6 active in the tournaments.. (wcg, iem)
Any game have the gameplay like cs, no one.
and come on put the f*ukin angry birds in the ass of people who wants to play it in wcg.
so fuckin sad
Was fun watching pro teams like SK-Gaming and Fnatic but they are most likely soon gone too...

I'm totally disappointed.
If Valve were behind it they would have created another version of "The International" Tournament for CS instead of stripping existing tournaments.
My God, are you people actually really thick?
There are so many factors that come into this... wake up it's 2012, CS1.6 cannot, and I mean cannot keep going for ever. It was clear that IEM were going to drop it after the last event, as it looked like it was the last hurrah. And as soon as WCG went with the decision of going mobile only, that was a clear decision made by the sponsors (ie Samsung).
How does Valve who has very little influence into either tournament get put into this picture?
The funny thing is that we will remember this game through the upcoming decades.
e-Stars and ESWC didnt mentioned anything 100% (what ive seen) but most likley they're dropping CS 1.6 aswell for good after this year.
If CS:GO succeed with its mission 100%, CS 1.6 is done with the international scene to like 95% (?), i guess. Then only some "4fun"- LANs with minor cash-pools involved once in a while in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Ukraine, Poland and mb Russia, Finland, Spain, France, Balkan countries and so will be held, if so.
Cuz the truth is CS 1.6 is no longer supported by a wider global scene anymore, its been a pretty long time since TBH.
The very very most major part of todays yuoths which playing pc-games dont choose to get devoted with a game like CS 1.6. Its more or less like tetris for them, pixels'r bleeding in dats ''fresh* eyes.
gg
you like it or not, cs dying
