Roughly twelve hours after our report about World Cyber Games 2012's game titles, the Korean event organizer has confirmed the initial rumours to be correct.
Counter-Strike 1.6 will not be featured at World Cyber Games 2012 despite of the event taking place in China which has traditionally been a fairly sizable market for the Counter-Strike series. However, Counter-Strike: Online is added as a promotional title.

WCG 2011 was the last event to feature Counter-Strike 1.6
As previously mentioned the first two official game titles will be FIFA 12 and Crossfire which was also featured as a side tournament at World E-Sports Masters 2012 held in Hangzhou. Among promotional titles is Counter-Strike: Online, but according to sources of HLTV.org it will only feature Chinese teams as the entire game is made solely for the Asian market.
The World Cyber Games CEO Brad Lee still conveyed optimism over the game choices, saying "We are excited to unveil the game titles for the WCG 2012 Grand Final, which are the world`s most popular titles across every genre in competitive gaming today", but although this year's event is looking to still add more game titles, it's hard to imagine the event seeing the kind of success we have seen from WCG in the past.
World ?
but according to sources of HLTV.org it will only feature Chinese teams as the entire game is made solely for the Asian market.
good one, is china the world?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_population
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over-population#Human..
Population: 1,339,724,852 (2010 census) (1st)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_China
The Asian population in 2011 was 4,140,336,501 (taken from your own link)
which is, indeed, around 60% of the world population (even included in your own link too)

2) "well they're 1/3rd population of the world lol"
3) he replies to him and says 3.9 billion.
4) I assume he means china..
5) get over yourself..
stupid games my god. Now Asia is killing 1.6 too.

Where you go ?
Actually, from what I've heard our WCG qualifier would feature CS:O as well, dunno if they'll gain a spot for grand final in China.
There's this game company which licensed the game in our region is now backing a lot of CS:O event/tourneys with quite a huge cash as a prize. So, it's kinda ruin our 1.6 community a bit here.
fucking bastards
It doesn't really matter to me if it offers Cs or not.
Many? it's just fnatic and mouz. mouz didn't attend because there's no local qualifier in germany, not because they're a mixed team. As for fnatic, they got some "history" with WCG since f0rest era.
Well 2011, Na'Vi failed in their local qualifier and too late to apply for the 2nd spot. And again who's this mixed top teams you mentioned?
Though even WCG was not up to everyone's expectations it's still an important event for the global 1.6 scene, or at least for non-european since we got way less 1.6 event in our region. So hearing this news is kinda expected but still, it's sad.

So typical chinese..
but no Sc2/Dota2/LoL/HoN
can they really call themselves the worldcup of esports when the top5 currently played multiplayer games arn't featured ?
lolNOT!
FXXK YOU WCG, FXXK OUT OF CHINA. RUBBISH ORGNIZERS.
What a retard. Nobody in Europe or North-America cares about Crossfire and CS:O is only available in Asia.
Better call your shitty event "Asian Cyber Games".
This news is more about the "death" of the WCG than about an event dropping CS.

cs1.6 best game ever

""We are excited to unveil the game titles for the WCG 2012 Grand Final, which are the world`s most popular titles across every genre in competitive gaming today""
- No.
"but although this year's event is looking to still add more game titles, it's hard to imagine the event seeing the kind of success we have seen from WCG in the past."
- BF3/CoD or CS:GO.
The qualifiers in China are started already
not
Asian Cyber Strategies
It's sad to see that people are complaining about them. Somehow they've forgot that WCG has featured 11 wonderful events. Everything has an end.
Anyway, thanks WCG to featuring CS for so long.

I'm thanking them for that they had CS1.6 11 years in their game list. As i believe no tournament has been around for so long ?
Do you actually think that all tournaments gonna include CS1.6 in their games list like forever ? And who sayed that they've put Crossfire instead of CS1.6 ? Last year WCG consisted of 10 Games (not including promotional one's). This year they will have only 2 (without the promotional ones). So how can you tell that Crossfire is instead of CS1.6 ?
As far as i can see you're one of those peoples who starts "smashing" every tournament organisers that refuses CS1.6
DreamHack >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WCG .
Wrong Chinese Generation
Organizers WCG2012 watch out, you won't have much supportes.
All Counter Strike 1.6 fans stay tuned, it's just issue of time :)
gl
i will now not even open there website. WCG includes most popular games of each genre but i dnt think there is any other fps game more popular for competitive play.
FU wcg.
WCG for me now = garbage
WCG BABY YEAH god forbid chinese lose at their own game.
change the name cause now it's a bad joke.
