Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl has announced his retirement from fnatic and Counter-Strike 1.6, a decision taken back in March.
Yesterday a video interview recorded after the DreamHack Summer final was posted by fnatic, talking with Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl about winning the Swedish Championship and the DreamHack tournament (find it by clicking here).
The interview ends on a bombshell, with Ståhl about to make an announcement. Various threads followed, stating what was coming and if he was going to quit.
Today, fnatic has announced that Ståhl is retiring, not just from fnatic but also from Counter-Strike 1.6. The announcement was made in the second part of the interview, which can be viewed below.
Ståhl states that his decision to retire was made back in March, following Patrik "cArn" Sättermon's retirement. Ståhl will go back to school, where he will study engineering.
The interview also sheds light on what most probably didn't know, that Ståhl is a pretty solid League of Legends player. He furthermore states, that should he ever return to competitive gaming, that it will be within the fnatic organization.
Ståhl has been in and out of fnatic a few times over the years, but will surely be remembered for his 2009 year with the team when they became the best team in the world following a victory at IEM 3 Global Finals.
With Ståhl retired, the following players remain in fnatic:
Andreas "MODDII" Fridh
Richard "Xizt" Landström
Finn "karrigan" Andersen
Michael "Friis" Jørgensen
The announcement from fnatic stated that news about the replacement for Ståhl will come next week. They are expected to attend GameGune 2012 which is the next big tournament in just over a month so their lineup will surely be set before then.

Farewell Stahl. I know exactly what you mean about the getting old and moving on since we were born the same year. I too am going through the same thing and I hate thinking about the future, but I know that it will connect just fine.

I guees there are 2 vairies of future:
1.fnatic disband their cs 1.6 squad (most sadly var.) and cs 1.6 will be die
2.Some swe/danish/norwagian pro player going to fnatic...
I hope for +1 danish pro like trace from eSrael :)

They have so many options to replace him :)
I would like to see trace joining :D

a2g , coldgame...
good luck bro
why should I ?
I'M JUST KINDA SAD CUZ GUX IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER NOW AND CS IS LOSING THE PLAYERS 1BY1
AND YOU CALLED ME MAD ?
IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT MAD MEANS SO DON'T USE IT FGS !
One of the best aimers I've ever seen. hf studing engineering.
anyway, gux was one of the players I enjoyed watching most, gonna miss you ;*
this is starting to look really bad, prizes and stuff are not my concern but with players like gux retiring we might see some serious decrease of top cs gameplay

very few players can fill his void, I can't think of anyone but kalle & trace, unless they bring a veteran back
khrystal is the only name that comes to mind, really.
However, I believe that trace would join the team. Although I couldn't help noticing that many fans are writing stuff like: "trace and friis are in a bad relationship". Don't know if that is true. But it would be a nice addition. He is pretty sick though he has a different style than Rasmus does
pls dont do it!!

Good luck IRL Gux and thanks for everything you done for fnatic !
Now lets hope kalle comes back and join fnatic. Seriously.
Trace should remain a Jew(eSrael). So stop wishing.
so it starts... after sponsors start quitting cs players are doing so
manne must be replaced .... has a great talent
fnatic kalle :D
(or trace as he will be with other 2 dansk people :P but i prefer kalle)
TAZ STOP PLAY CS OMYGOOD!
Good luck for the future.. we all will miss you..
have fun in real life.. :)
niwz gl in real life
i wonder if gux would have retired now if he had been taken in SK with f0rest and gtr like he wanted
+ kalle omg team

Our Counter-Strike will continue competing in the upcoming CS tournaments and you will hear about the new player next week. But for now - let us all wish Rasmus good luck in his future endeavors.
Kalle would be the perfect subtitute in my opinion.
gl in life gux
But as it turned out to be a truth, I can hardly believe what was I just read. However, everything has its ending, we should all respect his decision as retiring from CS1.6. Furthermore, I have to thank him for offered those incredible and amazing highlights to us. Best wishes! :)

EDIT : The player is not necessary born in 73, but a relation to that figure we can see. :D .. FYRR ? :D
Post edited 2012-06-24 20:14:49
i'm not saying gux = 0.5 fnatic but fnatic - gux = 0.5 fnatic with gux.
GeT_RiGhT announces retirement.
f0rest back to fnatic.
Gl in life Gux!
I like gux he retired so who will be the replacement ?
