Martin "trace" Heldt has been announced to be Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl's replacement in fnatic, making the team majority of the team Danish for the first time since its creation.
With Rasmus "Gux" Ståhl's retirement last week, the fnatic Chief Gaming Officer Patrik "cArn" Sättermon once again went on to post a riddle including nick names of hot candidates to join, for the community to have fun guessing who it might be.
The announcement about the newest member in fnatic came today and as many had guessed, the Dane Martin "trace" Heldt is the guy to fill the void left by Ståhl.
Heldt was rumored to join fnatic already earlier this year, following Faruk "pita" Pita's decision to step back. Heldt did, as we know, not join fnatic, but instead joined SK Gaming. He only lasted two and a half months on the team before being removed after Copenhagen Games.
Since then he's been a part of Xapso, which in recent time turned into eSrael. The team has been producing noticeable results online and attended the $10,000 3rd Intel Core Challenge by Inferno Online in Stockholm where they fell short against fnatic.
Heldt has now signed with fnatic, leaving eSrael with just four members, while fnatic once again has a complete roster of five players:
Richard "Xizt" Landström
Andreas "MODDII" Fridh
Finn "karrigan" Andersen
Michael "Friis" Jørgensen
Martin "trace" Heldt
With Heldt joining fnatic, the team changes flag to Danish, as the majority of the members now hail from the Kingdom of Denmark, for the first time in fnatic's Counter-Strike 1.6 history.
Heldt's fnatic debut will happen on July 26-29 in Bilbao where the team will travel to attend the 2012 edition of GameGune. For a small interview with Heldt head on over to the fnatic website.

But I feel kinda sad that fnatic is no longer under Swedish flag.
Will be fun to see them adjusting to Martin's style.
Damn it, feel so nostalgic about fnatic right now.
It sure is.
Somehow blog got deleted

I still think you guys are way too trigger happy on issues like this.
I wouldn't call it trigger happy but being coherent.
What's wrong with having multiple contributions to a particular topic? If his blog was just "LOL IT MU5T BE FR0SET!!111", then you'd have a point. But he'd clearly put some thought into it and it was a decent read.
I guess my main disagreement is about extending the "only one post per topic" policy to blogs. All it does is stifle discussion. What's the upside?
The reason for redirecting everyone is that carn's blog was the right place for these theories. On the one hand everyone's theory is discussed and on the other multiple threads/blogs on the same issue is avoided thus not flooding with unnecessary content the 'Active threads' listing.
I understand your disagreement but I hope you will understand on your side that in specific cases, like this one, it is more than justified.
I do have one more question though: why do you consider the extra content unnecessary? I would argue that by letting people write what they want, you stimulate discussion. Only purposefully disruptive threads should be removed.
And these threads do not necessarily have a disruptive purpose but a 'this is what I think' nature. Unfortunately it derives into a disruptive nature in the end as instead of discussing in an already created thread some users feel the need to be the topic starter.
Heh, seems that everyone got it from that guy. ;)
capitalized G is very similar to big C
ofc on paper they are the best, but they are still facing other pros, who can do serious damage as well
cs also is a bit random, and its not a game that can be mastered so good like playing piano eg.

Fnatic with 3 danes... sucks
Post edited 2012-06-26 23:35:34
Now it's an extreme example, but I suppose you get the point.
Fnatic won "SM" in CS on dreamhack, making them the Swedish champions. They can't attend such an event again, although it's likely not to be another such event :)
or maybe i just misunderstood ur commet
2 differt languges
(sorry if i spelt that wrong)
Post edited 2012-06-26 23:29:26
I just corrected you, don't need to be mad. If you want to correct somebody do it properly, by not doing any mistakes then. ;)
Sweden is better than USA maybe in Sweden. LOL
Big letter for all the nouns and adjectives derived from the names of countries.
Now, stop correcting people.
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:08:19
Oh well, good luck to them I guess (not that they should really need it with this line-up).
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:09:30
People are relating the fall of SK with fnatic, they certainly are not able to see that fnatic now has players who completely understands each other when spoken simple words.
Most of the them are saying that trace is defensive player but they don't know he is the most flexible player out there and can play any role perfectly and they seem to forget he was the entry-killer in mTw and played as a backup player in eSrael/Xapso as the players there were young with no experience at all.
fnatic was already number 1 before trace joining now only a bad day will stop them for playing first at the podium. This lineup is extremely dangerous.
Sorry for long post. Don't know why did i wrote but felt like writing :)

3 awp players in one teame, nothing good gonna happen
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:09:46
A player can only play with awp? He can't handle rifles? And fyi both trace and karrigan aren't primary awps, they did that role in their team because no one couldn't, they're far better with rifles.
THIS "USA dudes" are so angry :D

This 3rd world countries' dudes are so dumb.

I dont believe in this but i guess they do.
mTw,SK(not so long as expect but was...) and now in fnatic
fuck u,but u stay a pretty cool player <3<3<3
ArcadioN > Xizt
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:16:45
SK with trace can't win anything
SK with Delpan they can win a lot
Delpan AWP > trace AWP = trace fail on SK
The reason he got kicked was cuz of forest and get_right not understanding danish.
If u look at trace, how long have he been on SK?
If I look at it, it's not trace's fail on SK but more like SK's fail to utilize trace as great assets.
Why? He obviously played way better than 4 others on SK, but they decided to remove him. There's no way you can call that as a fail, statistically.
I still remember when they fail their first tournament. I better check of it.
ok my bad, he did won IOL FINAL 4 & DH:S on his SK debut.
But still, I can hardly agree with an argument that trace was a fail on SK :)

Beating SK comfortably online isn't really much of a "revenge", even though it always feels nice to win. It is more embarrassing for them losing to a "small" team like us, but I don't give it much thought. There has always been rivalry between fnaticRC and SK so it would be fun to play against them on lan. But I don't really care about proving myself, because I know I'm the best ; )
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:22:34
I just hope for fnatic trace works in better than he did in SK. Knowing he most probably wont AWP, having Friis and Karrigan in the team, plus joining a team having played with Danes for quite a substantial time before, I have my hopes up for this line-up
i hope that there will not be any communication problem between trace and the team
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:26:31
this lineup AMAZING T_T
too bad we didn't get to see them with zonic but still good to see
I always thought of trace as a really humble player, this line seems a bit odd.
Yes trace is one of the top players, but his play style does not resemble Gux's. I think they should have found an aggressive player that could kind of fill in for Gux because now fnatic has to change all around again and it took them like 2-3 tournaments just to get into the groove, so now fnatic might not produce the results right away, but they are still my favorite team no matter what so lets hope for the best.
Thorin and I have the same view on this so if you want to better understand what i'm talking about, go watch the segment he did on the subject back in february when SK first picked up trace and MODDII joined fnatic: http://www.sk-gaming.com/content/36551-Esports_Hea..
The first squad comprised of Scandinavian Lineup :
Joergen 'XeqtR' Johannessen (Norway) stand-in(NoA taking break)
Benjamin 'diGitaL' Hildén (Finland) Team Leader
Abidiwahab 'Megaton' Mohammed (Sweden)
Yousef 'solido' Riahi and (Sweden)
Magnus 'Magix' Berndtsson (Sweden)
Go Go Fnatic :)
Good luck trace, good luck fnatic.
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:38:32
can wait when they will be play
you can't compare trace with gux...seriously
Post edited 2012-06-27 00:29:47
but what about chemistry???
coz i heard that friis don't like trace.
I don't know the issue. What was happened???
Haha yea that is some funny rumors. It is true that we had our differences when we were small children at the age of 17, which is roughly 5 years ago. We have not had trouble for as long as I can remember and I enjoy playing with him, so it is kind of strange these rumors are still floating around the community
i can wait to see how this 3 best danish players will ne play in one team
so to sum this up:
1 AWP: Friis (because he sucks with rifles)
2 AWP: COLON or Karrigan
Rest have rifles - and Arcadion is atm most awesome caller in Denmark.
I dont have to reply to this message, your argument will be invalid.
with no communication problems, can win against this line
but it won't happen: (
You know what ?
Will win this team if they play like they should play ;)
Post edited 2012-06-26 21:52:42
trace's assaulting is far better than awping.....
so very nice move.....
OBVIOUSLY WE KNOW THAT!! lol
that's 2 top entry kill fraggers....
But who the hell cares!Give me good CS matches!
Damn...3 awp this is a bit wrong :|
Post edited 2012-06-26 22:16:12
This team will be the strongest of all time :O
just WOW, I'm becoming fan of fnatic, so impressive lineup..
he's a mad fragger :D
PS: feel sad for eSrael, a young team is on the raise now lost a valuable member.
Post edited 2012-06-26 22:34:37
Not fit the team :)
I dont know if trace will fit but we'll see.
and they will play with danish flag ahahhaha

Xizt - no joke with riffle, and madfragger leader
Karrigan most highly allround player, awp riffle whatever he is best allround.
Friisha awp moster, enough said. better than other awpers with riffle also.
I think this potentially could repeat NavI succes
Damn i miss the old days with f0rest ins archi carn and dsn :(
karrigan vs kuben
trace vs Neo
Friis vs Fox
karrigan vs ED1K
trace vs xek/hacker
He understand danish very well and speak it quite fluent aswell. I was playing with him on the danish LAN event, Lindved LAN last year and there he only spoked danish almost the hole time with an swedish accent ofcourse.
I hope that was enough answer to your question :)
Post edited 2012-06-26 23:59:57
correct me if am wrong :|
this might have been because of the trace-friis feud i guess or simply coz SK wanted him to speak this way? :O
but i feel sad for xapso/esrael, they were a really good side. and i think -xyp9x +minet wud've placed them top 5-7 atleast.
to make the most epic battle ;)
That team would be demolishing everyone who face that team
eSrael coloN, trace, Xyp9x, ArcadioN and turkizh best team.
Whereas, calling trace a scumbag because he left team which in majority is an online team with only 1 or 2 LAN tournaments to its record and highly unstable career wise, is very immature.
He is a professional player if you haven't realised. He does this to make MONEY and not play casually with friends and other people from his country like many of us do.
After SK his nest best option is fnatic as they already have two Danes in that and they have already figured out how to communicate with each other so that is not going to be an issue very likely.
For all I can assume, Trace HATES SK and would provide much greater motivation to fnatic to perform well in Game Gune. He is regarded as one of the best players today. He is an excellent over-all player. Having 3 awpers in fnatic is going to be very interesting and unprediuctable like Moscow Five with xek, Dosia, Fox. And fnatic awpers are much better awpers and overall players than compared to Moscow Five players.
You have to be retarded to refuse an offer from fnatic. This is great!
I believe it's 1 awper and 2 backup awpers, considering karrigan was also a rifler.
Didn't Winfakt.fi also have 3 players who could awp? aslak, H^N and someone else?
EDIT: Isn't it funny that all of the Danish players being recruited into foreign teams all seem to be top awpers? lol
Post edited 2012-06-27 13:47:13
Ah, definitely! Seems like as soon as mTw disbanded the bag full of talented players opened up and everybody wants to snatch them. Funny it is!
2)i think trace won't use the awp.
3) the 3 main awps of m5 were xek, fox and ED1k
Post edited 2012-06-27 02:13:44
and ESC > fnatic, cuz fnatic changes their line-up too much. When they cant to do something, they change line-up..
And what do we see now? Hahah fnatic will play with danish flag.
Na`Vi - top2-3 team 2011.
Na`Vi - currently the best team, 1 event doesn't matter at all. And stop kiddin' about sWeDiSh EvEnT it is funny to compare swedish event to international.
Na`Vi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> fnatic
and your logic doesnt make sense since they just won DH summer and SW championship and still they had to change their lineup.

We fnatic fans won't forget you! You are a fnatic in our hearts no matter what!
I hope that the new lineup will be a succeful one!
Trace good luck with your new teammates.
"Will be very strange seeing Fnatic.CS with a Danish flag from now on :S"
"Let´s use the Scandinavian one then!"
Does mean from now and on we'll see fnatic under this flag: http://famouswonders.com/flag-of-scandinavia/
or he just trolling(? ;D .
and no, he's joking.

And i know the originaly team is from Sweden, but the organization is British.
GO FNATIC do your best!
Shit daddy will rock you with godlike detecting
WHAT WE YELL?
lets go FNATIC!
well good luck and enjoy your stay trace...
very good for fnatic
i think trace is better than gux, fnatic won last tour and gux played well as a entry killer but again they lost to na vi on train and won on mirage which is not usual map..
now they will be much much stronger on every map and don t know if na vi/sk/esc could beat them know if all players wiil at their highest levels!
It could be better.

xizt moddii trace friss karrigan!
simple ! GG..
fnatic : trace,karrigan,friis,coloN,ArcadioN
SK : f0rest,GeT_RiGhT,Delpan,MODDI,Xizt
good line up .i really want to see how fnatic will play at next tournament
Players aren't loyal anymore and they are nothing but greedy kids that wants fame and money.
I don't agree. There are many changes in teams because there are just a few teams/players left and many are retiring... if you remember well between the beginning of the competitive CS till 2009-2010 these things didn't happen as frequently as today.
My point is, that football works that way, as far as I know. I give you more money, I get the player. I really don't believe that all those players who went to play to Qatar or similar countries did that because of their love towards sand and camels.
Teams and organizations should have solid contracts that makes sure all five stays together for one year, or at least six months, or else this business is a joke for kids who wants to earn some dollars from a computer game.
Things must run a bit different in this poor scene, which is already dying.

now tell me is that aggressive?
then same scenario with moddii , most of the time he plays himself on a position waiting for the enemies peak , usually on a pretty safe distance cuz he relies on his aim , not on his aggressiveness or random pushes/positioning
served~ ppl are clueless
You obviously haven't seen trace play that much. The only reason he often stood passive is because his team didn't allow him to go aggressive. And I don't see why he should go aggressive anyway with his sick aim. Leave the job for someone else.
Also, Karrigan is entry-fragging quite often as well.
now Xizt and MODDII will feel like they're strangers in the team !! lol
Post edited 2012-06-27 16:49:54
He is ten times better with rifles, but is great (not superior) with AWP. He will NOT play with AWP in fnatic. That's for sure.
+ ColoN + Nuggi
and you have a perfect Danish awp team
They have kicked players like moddii or trace pretty recently and these players proove to be the best in the World right after the burden of SK is taken of them.
I have been fan of SK since they started dominating german CB nations cup, but I have stopped this year, that team's behaviour is real shit.
I really hope moddii and trace will destroy SK completely and make them feel stupid for kicking World's top players...
