GameGune expands to 24 teams

The GameGune organizers have informed HLTV.org that the number of participants for this year's event have been expanded from 16 to 24 teams.

The Spanish event was originally set to feature 16 teams to compete for the 22,500€ prize purse, but as the organizers had to start turning down teams, they decided to expand by eight teams.

With eight more teams, minor changes to the tournament structure have been made. The tournament will consist of six groups with four teams in each. Top two from each group will advance to the playoffs, which is still played best-of-three maps in a double-elimination bracket.

As the playoffs will only feature 12 teams, four teams will based on seed receive a BYE in the first round.

The organizers have also chosen to test the group stage system suggested by Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen in his article about improving tournament formats. Want to find out what its all about? Click here if you didn't already read the article.

MAJ3R apparently stopped cs a few days ago, that's unofficial, but eSahara's manager said it on a streamm two days ago !

the squad still exist, but they don't play that much, MAJ3R retired as i said earlier, they're attending a french lan soon because they still need points to reach the ESWC.fr qualifier (they're actually ranked 8th, and the tournament will only feature the top6), and they might attend GameGune/Dreamhack Valence, not sure what the lineup'll be tho, that's all i know !
