e-Stars Seoul 2012 is set to take place 27-29 July, but won't be featuring a Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament like previous years.
Since the conclusion of the 2011 event, which was won by Frag eXecutors (now ESC Gaming), news from the South Korean event has been very limited.
The news is now out that the event is taking place 27-29 July, which are the same dates as the Spanish event GameGune. The two events have clashed in the past, but this year it won't matter.

e-Stars Seoul discontinues with CS
The reason is that e-Stars Seoul has dropped Counter-Strike 1.6 for the 2012 event, deciding to go for titles such as Tekken TT2 and League of Legends.
The latter has enjoyed great success in the country since the addition of the Azubu League of Legends Championship, which hands out over 100,000€ in prizes per season.
So while the focus has been on Seoul during the summer months in previous years, the Counter-Strike 1.6 enthusiasts will have to do with just the Spanish event this year.
cs 1.6 is rotten, happy to hear the game is going to die
Tell me how much you are updated from CS scene ;D

tactics are the same.
in 2010... it ruined the game but still they released the game and after made updates to it...
A tournament without a good FPS is not a tournament...

I love 1.6 too but well... tbh this game is dying for a long time.
We can play only for fun and pleasure now ;)
I hope they will make any other good FPS game simillar to cs.
Asian killing CS...

ADAPT OR DIE
...So naturally you want to destroy Counter Strike, when teams from Europe dominate this game, it is best to invent a new game to be happy in the initial successes . good luck mates

Show some respect for those years of hosting 1.6 not only bad words.
It's shame for CS community...
I mean i don't play it activly as i used to couple of months back, but still i love to play it sometimes, and hell yeah i love to watch good teams on good tournaments.
I believed that 1.6 will stay alive, even if 70% of ppl are saying that it will "vanish" but, all cs 1.6 players/fans must see it happening. I'm sad 'cause 1.6 is dead with only few major titles, as i said i found 1.6 the best game ever.

e-Stars thank you for this years
it was awesome

CS 1.6 is much too legendary, popular and good to die, although it might die on the same competitive level as we know it. People still play Diablo 2, Quake 1, Unreal Tournament and they still have fun. So will 1.6 players.
Good bye
Go for mortal kombat you fuckheads!
its stupid change cs for games like this shit
btw cs is not so popular in asia so it is expected
source :http://www.klanrur.co.rs/forum/index.php?showtopic..
Hope we still will see some Action from CS.
Though I was surprised to see the prizemoney for ESEA lan finals :O
Now pretend that CS is not dying, show me some screens with XXk of viewers, insult CS:S, CS:GO
Yes guys, fuck them because they gave money for 1.6 and host it over 10 years (WCG), fuck them for watching epic matches during the night (when it was in China/USA), fuck them for creating an Olympic image, fuck them for everything...
We should also fuck ESL because they want to earn money from adv. on stream, oh let's creat some topics about ReDeYe that he sucks.
Let's still thinks that 1.6 is immortal.
DreamHack Summer
DreamHack Winter
GameGune
Copenhagen Games
ASUS Final Battle of The Year
ESWC (?)
WEG (?)
and ofcourse other smaller tournaments all around the world.

Fuck those mcs
Go Counter Strike 1.6 !!!
Doesn't matter though, if CSP gets big we will be on the biggest tournaments again, no doubt.
PS: CSGO keeps suckin and is not even getting updated neither balanced at all.
-50.000 spectators at e-Stars Seul
they think do cs is dead
WCG= Korean
e-Sarts = Korean
Fuck Koreans, A country with only money in their ppl's mind and eyes!
Post edited 2012-07-02 21:19:52
Korea invested money for cs over 10 years and 2011 had a terrible deflict so they decided to drop
"It's Just Business, Kid
So I guess the only way to save the CS e-sport scene is for CSP or CS:GO to be successful.
It's a popularity thing. People are moving to different games and tournament organizers have no choice but to drop 1.6 most likely because it's no longer profitable.
Post edited 2012-07-02 22:43:10
As for the CS:GO nah, I hope not. I would be more happy if CSP takes over instead of GO. I don't really like CS:GO.
DON'T WANT PLAY CS:GO
Last year at eStars the crowd was horrible for us, barely anyone. Infact more people lined up to play a trial of some new asian MMO then watch any of the matches.
Their game "Operation Flash" or something had a crowd 10x bigger.
Korea is more focused on Sc2 / LoL at the moment. This is what the crowds will want to see, the organisers can only cater for the crowds.
eStars was a good tournament for 1.6 - prize money paid, great organization, great venue, great staff.
The fact of the matter is, no1 outside of europe (that is capable of hosting a major event) plays 1.6 anymore.
eStars was one of the good guys. They did things good.
If you have in your country chinese people everywhere stealing opportunities for our people live and work you just will change your mind :)
Nothing against Korea or Japan :)
my god ...
I STILL HAVE HOPE! CS WILL NEVER DIE :C
some day hltv.org will also die... :(
now thats what i call a chain reaction! - games dead RIP
DreamHack Summer
DreamHack Winter
GameGune
Copenhagen Games
ASUS
ESWC
WEG
Swedish Championship
ESL Pro Series
ESEA
and ofcourse the smaller tournaments in Balkan
I think that IEM will be back in 2013
So GTFO e-Stars :)
lol

Sponsor makes tournaments and gamers make community. so let it be. Sponsor takes the newest engine in gaming so they want to test out how that engine does in a FPS competitive game, how cs 1.6 gamers think or others in cs:s gamers think.
Now you can not accept that engine in that game makes a sh** thing but for sponsor they also want to make a huge tournament from the benefit of that sh** thing they show us. For me, tournament = sponsor + gamers. and when sponsor can not find any exciting things in cs 1.6 anymore, so tournament now becomes gamers + ... how we roll the games ourselves with no prize. I believe cs 1.6 will never die in our heart but for a competitve game, everything can change for a new time.
Csgo sucks . I got 2 beta keys for free few month ago and sold one key for 70$ lol . Sine valve annouced csgo official verison would be 15$ and i was so happy . Personally , i regconised this game would never be compared with cs1.6 or css . Evenwen its new game
