The CSPromod team have posted a batch of images of their work on color correction and contrast improvements.
In a thread on the CSPromod forums, developer "incubus" is showing off some of the work he has done on color correction and contrast improvements for maps.
For anyone interested, and anyone able to understand the technicalities involved in the work the developer has done, he explains how it is done like this:
"The current effect is based on a full-screen color transformation technique which is done using a color table generated through photoshop (or any other image editing program) and applying the transform through shaders."
He notes that he was able to achieve more contrast, better colors, better shadows and better skies, but also that it makes things slightly darker in some places to increase contrast.
The guys behind CSPromod have furthermore informed us that the graphical changes will be optional, which basically means you can turn it on and off as you please.
The csp_dust2 images can be disregarded, but we added them so that you would get to see them anyway. The team is working on brand new textures for said map, so it will be changed.
Moreover, the color correction and contrast improvements will not be available in the upcoming 1.09 release. It is more likely it will be an option in the 1.10 version.
Below are the before-and-after pictures, with the left sides of the images being the before part. Do you like the improvements, or could you go without? Tell us in the comment section.

no pictures = no nice :) !
I don't see how this is an unfair statement then?
When 1.6 with best top-players probably had its last show at any larger ESport-event by end of this year, 2012. Counter-Strike 1.7 or CSPromod (whatever you choose calling it) will be out of its BETA-stage and ready to rockNroll in e-Sports eternity.
The nearest thing to an ultimate CS we always whanted and whant to know, made by community - for the community.
Gaming Iz Believing !!!
Riot gives money, money makes tournaments
Riot job can replace sponsors job.
2) Spectators want to see new players
3) Majority of spectators want games with good graphics
4) Sponsors want spectators
5) Hence, because of No 3, sponsors want game with good graphics
6) Players buy new game (money to developers)
7) New game requires more hardware
8) Spectators/players buy more stuff (money to sponsors)
9) Sponsors invest more money in tournaments (money to players)
10) More new players come and spectators
And so on...
Correct me if I am wrong :)
Basically money must go to all 3 parties

Looks like Counter-Strike: Source.
Me no like Counter-Strike: Source.
:-O
It will be 1.6 in new graphics.
edit:
My thoughts:
The new one is way better. The current visual are too grey and boring. CS 1.6 is full of colors and I miss them in CSP. Especially in inferno (the csp inferno make me feel sad...almost cutting myself while playing csp_inferno).
But most important: Don't make it optional! If something is optional, people will always choice the one which bring them some advantage in gameplay. Everyone should see the same thing. This kind of equality is very important for a competitive game.
I would even think about a very small HDR-effect.

Also there's a CS:GO subsection on the forums, ergo CS:GO has a place here
edit: It's like you compare:
HoN similar to DotA
LoL not even closer to DotA ( Noob Game )

also after 13 years i believe people are bored of the exact same maps ..csgo adds some variety , also tactically with molotovs and decoys.
Don't tell me the CSP maps would be too close to the maps from 1.6 cause the CS:GO maps are just revamped CSS maps.
In fact: By bringing in season and lite as official maps CSP got more "variety" when it comes to maps than CS:GO.
ps: I still hope Brute will make some official CSP-versions of tuscan, forge and russka. Plus an official csp_mirage. A lot of people still don't know about these maps.
Thats the reason why CS1.6 is slowly fading out, the younger gamers are looking for graphic.
The problem is that overall the lights on the maps suck, they don't seem to really know how to properly lit a map, the ambient light has a bad color an is not casting enough shadows due too the angle that it's at, and there's not enough fog which would help the light blend better with the geometry.
You can look for example at the HL2 mod Mission Improbable to see how the lights could be made http://www.moddb.com/mods/mission-improbable/image..
But good input anyway. Maybe you could help them...
www.cspromod.com
:-)
About the fog, fog can be tweaked! you can add just enough to make the lights and the skybox blend better with the geometry without reducing visibility, and if I remember correctly it may also improve performance when combined with area portals (it's complicated to explain) that make it so that objects hidden by the fog are rendered with less detail or not rendered at all.
Like someone already said, www.cspromod.com.
would the lights and darkness are equals to 1.6
and tactics that can be developed in the same manner than cs 1.6
gj 'cspromod team' ! :)
THIS is the biggest point on supporting cspromod, and I'm surprised that a swede didn't know that, shame on you.

I was a fan of CSP when 1.04 came out, they said they'll use the best from CS 1.6 and Source (and I think it is possible), but now I'm very sad about their decisions, making an exact copy with no "evolution".
cs source is 'evolved' cs 1.6 but it didnt work out. its hard to predict how ppl are gonna react to changes, and to make a change it takes enourmous amount of time to code it. so implementing something, that they know ppl like is the safest way for them to succeed

This is at least what ive heard and i dont think my memory fails me on this one.
And when I want to create a new game it crashes -.-
will it be aviable on my pc:o?
The 1.6 community is beting on you CSP!
CSP >>>>> CSGO+CSS
Cause CSGO is from valve ... cspromod not
Will CSPromod ever be available on Steam?
"We will apply for Steamworks so that the game may be available on Steam if we do get a spot. However, once the application is sent, the final decision will be up to Valve."
I hope Valve will be cool about that.

Would be a shame to waste it on CS:GO..
Stop blaming Valve. They are a company born to make money as any other.
If they are not doing a "CS1.7", its just becouse 1.6 comunity just dont give them the money they can get other ways.
CSP got lack of developer support while CSGO has a full support so there is no question which one will win. :P Deal With It.
when I play for fun I play cs:go but I would play csp for a competition :)
move on already promod... this has been under development for what? 3? 4 years? obviously it's not a passion, or it wouldda been finished years ago.
let it go.

CSP is a "replicate" of a fantastic game with
- better graphics
- fixed bugs
- free to play
- new features
- huge potential for esport
- portable to every new version of the source engine
- active support by its developers
Sponsores care about amount of players, cs1.6 no longer appeal to new players because it has 13 years old graphics.
CSPromod graphics will appeal to nowadays kids better then cs1.6 does.
We will have more players then Cs1.6 have right now so we have more chances to succed then cs1.6 will have in 2 years after CS:GO goes down due to lack of competitive players and spectators.
Cs1.6 was pure luck and we are trying to replicate LUCK.... ever tried to replicate a thing you did with luck? You'll sure not have the same luck ;)

User feedbacks \ fixing \ features \ user feedbacks \ fixing features....
This is a long way, but this is the only way how can be done successfully.
