Northern Grade win MEO XLParty

Northern Grade beat urbanjungle 16-6 in the grand final of ASUS Republic of Gamers at MEO XL Party 2012.

Sponsored by ASUS and MEO, the tournament took place last weekend and featured a total of 16 teams.

Northern Grade faced no real trouble on their road to victory, gaining access to the grand final following a victory against urbanjungle in the upper bracket final.

Fighting their way through the consolidation final against Karma, urbanjungle qualified to the grand final, only to lose the first map, de_inferno, 16-6 and thus the match.

Northern Grade have set their eyes on attending the SteelSeries SummerCup, hosted by CJM, between July 20-22. 

ASUS Republic of Gamers final standings:

4. Demons - SteelSeries products + CS server
5. Bisnagas - SteelSeries products  + CS server

k1ck struggled to beat Northern Grade at last year's XLParty, and did not attend this event. They will, however, be participating in the upcoming SteelSeries SummerCup.

I remember attending local LANs with friends years ago. Sure, tickets were like $50 per person, and we never expected to win, but it wasn't always about the money! :)

I read that this tournament usually give prizes of its sponsors. Do not give cash prizes.

If you paid 150 per team and receive 840euros (5 * ASUS LCD) 424.95 + (5 * Phones Steelseries Siberia V2) + 249.95 (5x Steelseries Mouse Kana) + 74.95 (SteelSeries QcK Monk)

= 1589 euros.

Is it so bad the 1st prize?

PS: Sometimes money is not everything. This is a tournament where parents take their children to play and where there is much socializing.

First of all, a 75HZ-monitor for CS-players? Really? And the Kana is horrible. Its decent if you stay away from multi-colored surfaces. And guess what you get? A multi colored surface and that is pretty much useless unless you are a really high sensitivity player. As CS-players generally aren't fans of high sensitivity, I don't get why that pad is in the package. The headset is ok, but from what I've heard and myself having two of those(v2) is that they never last for a longer period of time and it isn't at all that unusual if one of the speakers break or the microphone stops working.

Yeah of course money isn't everything.
But I was referring to how the prizes were really badly chosen for a CS-tournament.
