Alexander "TheSlaSH" Müller has to HLTV.org confirmed that the German-based organization won't be sending the Swedish Counter-Strike 1.6 team to GameGune next week in Bilbao, Spain.
After it had come to our attention that SK Gaming was nowhere to be found on the list of attending teams for this year's edition of GameGune, we contacted Alexander "TheSlaSH" Müller, the Managing Director of SK Gaming, to get clarification on the matter.
Müller confirmed SK won't send the team to GameGune and furthermore stated:
"After what happened at Dreamhack and especially the way the team prepared for this tournament, we approached the Gamegune tournament in a different way than previous years. We don't see the investment of going there is worth it.
A lot of tournaments have been called the last one for 1.6 so far. Among those a couple we participated in. To me it was ESWC 2011. This was also the last title missing at our end, therefore we feel like we have closure on the whole CS topic no matter what."
SK won the 2011 edition of the Spanish tournament, beating ESC Gaming to win the 12,000€ first place prize. Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund & co. will this year have to watch the event unfold from their respected residences.

SK won't have a chance to defend the title from 2011
Asked on the future of SK's CS division Müller said the following: "Remains to be seen"..
By the looks of it, it very much seems like SK is closing the chapter of their Counter-Strike 1.6 division, probably eyeing on how CS:GO will unfold, but for now those are only speculations.
Stay tuned as we will be sure to update you once more information should become available.
go play cs:go pls :) ok?
Stop with this jokes , u're not funny ;)

hope they will start their own team :D

gg sk, you shall be missed.
Post edited 2012-07-20 17:33:45
the organization that cheated EVERY CS division they had out of prizemoney at one point....also players from other divisions
also the organization that signed a player contracted to fnatic ....delpan..
it's not like these players did not know what they got into after what happened in 2003-2007
At least in big organizations, I don't know about smaller ones.
bb dnolpan
Oh yes, we never heard about losing motivation in CS.
So this statement should be repeated many times.
But the real question is that if you don't believe it, what was the reason of his outage?
Because if you know it was a lie, and that's why you are joking on it always you should know what is the truth? So? I'm very curious now...

1.6 will live on, not on top competitive level, but you can still play online/small LAN tournaments, leagues and have fun.
You (and hundreds of others) might saw yourself standing on a box, holding trophy for being the best CS team in WCG/ESWC/IEM/etc., but face it, you wouldn't make it even if you could. I am at least not living in denial and false hope that I will one day surpass f0rest :) I'm gonna miss watching them play, though, no argument there..
Post edited 2012-07-20 17:24:24
dafuqqq, i never said i wanted to become a pro like them.. besides, even if i wanted and have the skill, i wouldnt want it because in portugal living because of gaming is impossible.
I don't wanna make it sound rude, but you're country's scene has never been really active outside its own frontiers, so international even dropping cs should not worry you unless you're playing for one of the best 2 portuguese teams
I know, the best we had was some participations at DH winter and WCG but you know, its bad if the game is dying because just because there is only 2 "good" teams here, its bad for the rest of the players too..
grow up, not everything is sunshine and unicorns ..there is money involved in esports
there is still hope that valve will improve the game ...
Imagine you are a professional football player. Imagine everything goes well, but all of a sudden football gets dropped on World Cup, Olympics, Euro, everywhere. Ooops! Now, to stay a professional football player, you have to start playing basketball, because it shares a part of its name. Same logic, again very stupid one, because according to you, to stay a professional Counter Strike 1.6 player you gotta play Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
Post edited 2012-07-20 18:43:38
Nobody said they have to switch to dota2/quake/sc2. If someone said that then your comparassion would be accurate. This way it is really bad comparasion.
Basketball and football have nothing in common, while cs:go and cs are almost the same game. If you are pro in cs1.6 it pretty much means that you would be good in cs:go. On the other hand if you are pro in cs1.6 it is highly unlikely that you are any good in dota2 (unless you are g0g1).

It is like if your Lamborghini Gallardo stopped working, so you switch to one of Lamborghini tractors just to be faithful to the brand. I don't get it :)

CSPROMOD, pleassseeee :D
its the tournament organizers's choice ...
and 20 bucks says all tournaments prefer csgo cus of the graphics ...
its sad but its the world we live in
1. IEM removes cs1.6
2. WCG removes cs1.6
3. ESWC removes cs1.6
4. SK-gaming removes cs1.6
5. Navi-gaming removes cs1.6
6. Fnatic removes cs1.6
7. Esc gaming removes cs1.6
8. All other major clans remove cs1.6
9. HLTV.org shuts down
gg, game over
why you back? Maybe focus on prices from your contest not about delete our posts...
Now ban me cuz im teling true...
they beat esc in the semi(2-0) and fnatic in the final(2-0).
What about the IEM Finals? Or is he like: "My team won every event at least once, now the game is dead."
It's quite obvious everyone has their own opinion about CS:GO, hell I hated it when I played it when the beta came out, but with that said, the game is not out yet, so lets just wait and see what the final product will be like.
what next?
or
SK Gaming release Counter-Strike 1.6 team
But please don't add CS:GO team, because right now it's worse game than CS 1.6.
1.6 STAY <3
Their LOL team is losing game after game, they only have one good player and that is MC, and they cannot fuck with him as he could easily fuck with them back, he is the one that brings money to them atm.
By the looks of it, they could very easily close the orga and move on to a different chapter.
Not like MC will have problems in finding a new organisation to represent.
It would make me so happy to see this shit organisation wipe out from the eSports scene.
Not to mention that Get_right has been seen lately attending SC2 quallifiers, f0rest LOL's all the time, Delpan's "motivation" is again a problem.
Post edited 2012-07-20 15:53:08
I hope that they will kick CS team so that they can give even bigger salary for MC. He deserves it...
Te iubesc.

This is big fail with CS:GO ..
I can't believe that SK will off.
If they stop playing CS ,that will be the end of this awesome game ..
Post edited 2012-07-21 11:05:30
1. Act like immature kids and bash CS GO and the tournaments that closed the game OR..
2. Make CS one community again and give CS GO a try
3. Quit counter-strike and say cs 1.6 was the only CS q.q @ll 0th3r v3rs10n$ suck and kill the fps scene and cry into your pillow every night.
Post edited 2012-07-20 16:10:48
yeah and btw , dont come with the escuse "ow it's to late" , it isnt , if all the comunity helps the game can be big
Post edited 2012-07-20 17:24:12
a game that has skillcap , a huge playerbase , and alot of reputation :)
will take some time to adjust -___-
playing a game that sucks so we can create a big community isnt mature, its retarded
God why ?! ;(
ESC SK fnatic etc... isn´t normal teams, the rest of comunity css > 1.6 cause cs:go is css2
PD: i was css player and 1.6 player

R.I.P SK
they probably , no, they WILL have a csgo division sooner or later.
WHAT UP NOW SWEDES?! WOOOOOOOOOO
Post edited 2012-07-20 18:12:10
Evryone will lose interest in GO and it will be the end of CS
that is , if people will remember it exists
SK Gaming become famous with the CS squad... now they are playing with them ....
they have been playing with their cs players since 2003 when they fucked over heaton and co
then they fucked over zet and co in 2007
.....
competitive CS 1.6 is going to die within next year or so... sad -__-
sickers understand that they didnt win and start play cs go
Good call!

cs is dead i will miss u
CS:GO isnt Counter Strike.
I think we still having one hope. CS PROMOD is a decent evolution of the game. but cmon, GO is another game
Even NEO (bashed it once in a interview) likes it now and plays with GTR and f0rest... and when it gets popular I will enjoy the CS-comebacks of organisations like mTw and mouz.
Post edited 2012-07-20 23:09:06
f0rest and GTR will certainly shift to CS:GO if seeing current inclinations.
source died
welcome cs:go, or byebye fps games in competitive mod.
TheSlaSh did the right thing here.
dunno how the players contracts is but would be cool if some other organisation would pick them up and send them.
Post edited 2012-07-21 01:29:03
If you are happy that the SK team is being disbanded, you obviously don't understand the impact that this will have. SK is one of the oldest organizations, CS is now dead. What a fucking shame.
-It's over. It's all over...
cs 1.6 is also deading
but hope that it doesnt deaded before 21st Dec.
Really not professional in my mind.. Very childish acting by the SK players. Deserved the stay-at-home-playing-cs-go punishment. Have fun losing in 100€ online tournaments in CSGO.
And if your team had won IEM this year, it would have been that, silly git.
