Game: Counter-Strike 1.6

GameGune has announced more teams for the event starting on Thursday in Bilbao. This now brings the team list to 21 out of the possible 24 slots.

After SK Gaming announced they would not be sending their Counter-Strike team to GameGune, at least one of the giants would be staying home. However, ESC Gaming has been announced as an attendee, as was tp.uSports featuring four former Moscow Five members.

There are still three more slots left for the tournament, so it's likely those will be filled by local Spanish teams as it seems like there will not be enough international teams to fill the entire tournament.

That's completely backwards, the only reason 'gaming professionals' have had an opportunity to play for money since the late 90's is because of so many casual gamers creating the community and market in the first place. It takes a large player base in general (mainly of casual players along with competitive) for a game to spawn an environment suitable to provide a professional level of play and enough reason for sponsors to pay for tournaments.

It seems nostalgic! the last counter-strike tournament ever!

It was a great decade(11 years of pro gaming i'm not counting before 2001 there's no reason)We saw the same game evolving, new players from poor countries owning everyone(Ukraine,Poland,Russia)we saw real legends (heaton potti element) that taught us the game, we had millions of dollars spent for tournaments like cpl , wcg , eswc , wsvg , WEG , wem , estars , IntelExtremeMasters , esl's EPS series , cevo , esea , cal , DreamHack , gamegune , kode5 , arbalet series and many more lesser tours.

We all felt excitement when our favorite team won against their archrivals lots of us (players,staff) traveled across the world for playing or covering a tournament, we've met new cultures,new people everything was perfect until last year. Counter-Strike(and quake3,w3,sc1 obviously) showed the gamers,no matter what the game is,what being pro means and it was the first game to achieve all the above.

The future of games might be brighter who knows but Counter-Strike was the first game to guide e sports into a whole new level! I actually never thought that this day would come nevertheless i've enjoyed every single day i played this game.I'm also too old to start a new "competitive game" at my 26 so i'm glad that i lived to see and be a part of those days 2001-2012 r.i.p cs pro gaming

Basically, the owner of M5 (Dmitry Smelyi) made that decision, not sending M5 to GameGune, even before Dreamhack Summer 2012. The reasons for that are quiet simple as it is the summer time now and the players took their vacation, chilled etc which means they didn't have a lot of time to practice together. In any case, they want to participate and they got lucky OverDrive offered them the trip to Spain (all included).

As ROMJkE stated h4cker is not part of the mix-squad at this event as he's been with the team only since April 2012 while all the other guys been playing together for several years now. And it is obviously that OverDrive has to be part of this mix because he's the one investing money and of course he wants to participate as a player at most likely the last big event featuring CS 1.6...
