We'll try to make this fast, while we are online... Network issues in the GameGune tournament is the reason why no matches are live.
It looked like matches could start close to 16:00 but it didn't happen. The players kept dropping from the servers and the internet inside the GameGune area had been fishy since the first people arrived.
The GameGune people are working on a solution to the problem. Right now it seems as the router serving this part of the Euskal Encounter area is the reason to it.
So for now all we can tell you is that the issue is being looked at. We'll be back when there's an update and hopefully games are about to start.
Well i'm not sure to understand why internet has so much impact on the CS tournament.
Article states dropping from servers, but they are very very likely to be hosted locally.
The only issue is the steam authentication. Once players are logged in, even if internet goes down you're covered.
They could isolate the CS players subnet for a while to allocate them a proper connection just long enough for everyone to login before each groupstage rotation.
The hardcore solution could also be block every ports except the steam auth. one to stabilize the connection (less traffic) a bit.
Still we don't know which setup they have, subnets, routing, number of connections they've got.
All in all there are many technical workaround to make this work, but I would rather see organizers working to fix internet for good for the whole event rather than focusing on getting some tournaments tricky privileged technical solutions, and that totally makes sense.

We also both know that there are plenty of non-steam solutions that work without internet - in a BYOC tournament it thus is really easy to use this instead of steam. Cracking a server to accept both steam and non-steam clients so both possibilities are open is of course also trivial =)

hehe indeed, but that one is illegal so didn't suggest it
I made the hypothesis they would keep doing without such solution :)

Well, the line on whats legal and whats not remains in the middle I guess. Playing CS without a license is surely illegal - but if you have the license and technical difficulties to play - different story.
Anyway, they better fix this quickly, told Nix0n I could get on a plane earlier this afternoon so I'll be disappointed if they dont get it solved tonight :D
