The opening round of GameGune 2012's playoffs has almost finished in Bilbao with k23, tp.uSports, DELTA and zNation advancing while knocking ENTiTY, Bz, KerchNET and Karont3 to the lower bracket.

In the first match the Kazakhstani k23 surprised Macedonian side ENTiTY with a clear 2-0 win. Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev's team scored nine rounds as counter-terrorists on de_nuke, and followed it up with a 7-4 scoreline as terrorists to secure the map 16-10.

ENTiTY had their backs against the wall when the series moved to de_dust2. They had a respectable first half as they put up six rounds on the significantly harder counter-terrorist side, but k23 striked back in the second half by once again scoring seven rounds to ENTiTY's four to win 16-10 and 2-0 overall.

Russian tp.uSports were favorites heading into their seriers versus French Bz and they didn't fail to do exactly what was expected of them. The series started on de_nuke where Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov led the team with a 24-7 score as they wiped the floor with the Frenchmen in a 16-3 win.

The match was closer on de_inferno where Bz had a close first half as tp.uSports scored eight rounds. Second half kept the game close until the end but it was Stolyarov's 27/14 performance that pushed the Russian team over the top to win 16-11.

DELTA and KerchNET had a very close series which started on de_inferno with both teams going the distance in an 22-18 double overtime game where each squad scored ten rounds on their defensive half before DELTA pulled away with a 4-0 overtime win.

Although the second map didn't live up to the standards of the first, it was still a relatively close game on de_train DELTA continuing strong terrorist play from yesterday's k1ck matches. After seven rounds as terrorists, they went up 9-2 as CTs to win 16-10.

Final match of the opening round saw Karont3 face Russian zNation in a series beginning on de_inferno. Both teams were neck and neck in the first half with zNation egding out eight rounds in the end, but in the second half Karont3 had no answer to the Russians' defense as they won 16-8.

After hours the second map finally got underway, and it was significantly closer as the teams battled all thirty rounds. First half saw zNation run away with 10 rounds as terrorists, but Karont3 refused to give in as they brought it back to 14-15 before ultimately falling short.

The second round of the upper bracket is already live with fnatic having defeated k23, DELTA being live against ESC who are up 1-0 and Virtus.pro versus tp.uSports going into the final map. Natus Vincere against zNation is scheduled to begin at 21:00.
