natu returns in CS:GO team

Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Joona "natu" Leppänen and Hannu "H^N" Pohjalainen are among the players in the recently announced Hawks team.

The announcement of Hawks marks the return of the 69N-28E veteran Joona "natu" Leppänen, who has been inactive from the competitive Counter-Strike scene since early 2011.

Leppänen has been seen streaming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lately, and a return to the competitive scene has been in the air for some time. On the Finnish player's return, he said:

"I think it's the word "competitive" that never dies from anyone who posesses it. It was more or less just random to be honest, we played some gathers with the guys in this team and then we had a chat, decided to try out some and we had fun to play. So all in all it was all just random pieces falling into the right place."

Following what is looking to become a popular trend, Hawks are not made up of players belonging to only one community; former 4Kings Source player Samuel "God" Räsänen is also on the roster.

natu makes return in CS:GO

Questioned about the including of Räsänen, Leppänen said:

I used to know him from playing Source for a short while in 2008 and he's been actively playing CSGO-gathers.
But no real story here besides we just thought he'd be a good fit and he knows how to handle a mouse

"I used to know him from playing Source for a short while in 2008 and he's been actively playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gathers. But no real story here besides we just thought he'd be a good fit and he knows how to handle a mouse."

Hannu "H^N" Pohjalainen's ex-WinFakt teammate Aleksi "allu" Jalli is also a part of the squad. They are all joined by Timo "reflex" Rintala, formerly of teams such as aNimus and afterlife.

H^N switches to CS:GO

A hot and continuously discussed topic among the members of the community is whether Source players have an advantage in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as opposed to CS 1.6 players.

We asked Leppänen if he shares the same sentiment.

"I guess to an extent they have had a headstart due to the general feel, but I think so many details are very different that it won't be much of a difference. All you need is a few days of gathers and matches and you'll start to understand how to manage in CS:GO," he said.

Hawks are participating in ESL's Go4CSGO Cup #7 and are up against mousesports in the grand final. Despite the team not having practiced much, Leppänen believes it will be interesting.

"We'll just go out there and have some fun. It has worked so far and it'll work again. If it's enough or not I can't obviously say. We haven't really practiced anything yet just learnt some tricks and twists of the game and will rely on that. I'm sure it'll be interesting!"

Having taken the step up from being just another casual team, Hawks are ready to tackle the teams who will eventually make up the professional CS: Global Offensive scene, Leppänen noted.

"No doubt, we'll be there to compete to win. I think all of us have adapted very quickly and have understood the "sort of relentless" style of play this game requires."

Hawks have the following roster:

Joona "natu" Leppänen
 Timo "reflex" Rintala
 Hannu "H^N" Pohjalainen
 Aleksi "allu" Jalli
Samuel "God" Räsänen

The team is furthermore looking for an organization to support them and can be contacted by e-mail at hawkscsgo@gmail.com.

considering it is unlikely they will receive salary in the near future or win a considerable amount of prize money (and the fact natu has a full time job), i doubt money is one of the reasons he started playing.
2012-08-23 07:03:39
Since he has a full-time job, why did he decide to start this game? I guess he is quite old for playing computer games?

Dude he's only 27-year-old. You can play computer games until you die. I know many family dads at age 40-50 who play computer games. Not on competitive level but still.

for fun/the competition? hardly anyone who plays cs at a good level plays more than 4 hours a day throughout the year, most people take breaks, don't play on the weekends etc so playing doesn't take that much time, travel just messes with school/work
2012-08-23 09:55:24
Maybe I got you wrong, but do you really believe that playing 4 hours a day except weekends is not much time?

i think its a lot but i think its the absolute max, most of my teams have always played 19-23 sun-thu for 1-2 weeks before tournaments and not played outside of that. doesn't seem like a lot for someone who enjoys what they are doing.
2012-08-23 16:57:11
Old at 27? That is still a good age for the game I`m sure. I think it is rather overrated the certain age segment you have to be in, in order to play games competitively. What tends to be the case is that there are certain perceptions of what people can and cannot do at a certain age and the older people get the more responsibilities they have: House, Car, Jobs, GF/WIFE, Kids etc. which were not present before and these simply take over instead.

The fact of the matter is that there is not enough money and consistency in eSport in order for people to make it a viable well paying job over a longer period of time.

Money would merely be an added bonus at most. Competition is the only driving factor that even should affect your choice. People are clueless..
2012-08-23 13:18:12
I didn't mean you start playing again because of money.

I just think that at 27 there is a lot of other important or fun things to do... What about self-development?

However, if you plan to work in esport industry like HeatoN, then I understand it.

ok, full-time job - from 9AM till 18PM with 1 hour on lunch. From 19PM till 23PM - CS:GO. Nice... Glad we have that cleared up.

Maybe I misunderstood and he will train like 1-2 hours 3 times per week, then it's okay. Anyway, pointless debate, everyone will stay on his side. Just in my humble opinion, not so young man can find "competition" in some other things.

no fulltime job lasts 9 hours, my fulltime summer job is 7h45 anytime from 7am to 5pm, so e.g. i get home at 2:45pm.

i think almost everyone leaves work by 4pm, so if they're home at 4:30pm (which is fair imo), they still have tons of time.

obviously he doesn't have to play 4 hours a day every day, but even if he did, he could still have plenty of time left for other stuff. time management is a powerful thing

f0rest going to win everything? Don't make me laugh, Source teams will beat 1.6 teams in Global Offensive anytime. Have you even read what VeryGames are doing in ESL's Go4CSGO?

this CSGO Really is a big thing.... attracting more n more professional players......... amazing news.
2012-08-23 07:54:02
lol its not the game, its the money...
2012-08-23 10:29:32
yes its the game n the money involved in it. if u had ur own team u would have done the same. so stop saying its just the money
2012-08-23 11:07:19
NO, it is the money. Every single one of these players/teams would rather be playing 1.6 but tournaments are only offering big money prizes for cs:go that is why these players are now moving to cs:go. 2 months ago every single one of these players were saying how much cs:go sucked and that its nowhere near as competetive as 1.6. you're wrong. it is just the money.
2012-08-23 11:22:20
cs go has changed a lot in 2 months and obviously you can't speak on behalf of everyone
2012-08-23 12:15:49
its the same with cs 1.6 most of them played it because of the good money
2012-08-23 12:20:11
then why didnt they go to source when source was offering more money than 1.6?
2012-08-23 22:31:09
where in europe? i dont think so
2012-08-24 02:56:05
its not about money, its about a new game, new leagues, new big tournaments, lots of new players, thousands of new teams....

obviously lots of money will come to the tournaments when you have a successful game, thats obvious.

most of these people just want to have fun again, and im sure its hard to have fun in a game thats been around for a decade.
2012-08-23 17:36:16
if u look at any interview with a pro talking about gaming, they always say they love playing 1.6 more than anything else and always will.
2012-08-23 22:30:44
good that big names returns, but bad that in CS:GO
2012-08-23 08:24:59
