CS:GO replaces CS:S in EMS

Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The Electronic Sports League (ESL) has announced that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will take CS:Source's place in the upcoming season of the Major Series.

CS:Source has been an ever-present title in the EMS in the last 10 editions of the tournament, but the ESL has now decided to go all in on CS:GO and put together a €5,000 competition for the new game.

The biggest piece of the Major Series' €34,000 prize pot will go to World of Tanks, which will boast a €15,000 prize purse while the League of Legends and Crossfire Europe tournaments will also hand out €5,000 in prizes.

Other EMS season games include Call of Duty 4, Trackmania and Fifa 13.

Details on the tournaments' calendar, the prize distribution and the qualifying system will be released in the next few days, so stay tuned to HLTV.og for all the information about the new EMS season.

then you should come out of your little cave, world of tanks is a very popular game played every day by more than 90k players, which is more than any other game on Steam (and Im talking about European server only, there are also servers in Russia, North America, China and Southern Asia)
Also it gets bigger prize money, because the game is played 7on7 competitively.

o m g, have u ever even watched the interview by the valve guys leading the development of this thing? cant remember what his name was but surely can be found from youtube. I think it was atleast on IEM New York where he said they are trying to make a new game that would bring CS:S and CS1.6 communities together but not by forcing them change to CS:GO like they did with 1.5 -> 1.6 by shutting down WON database.

actualyl csgo is LEAGUES ahead of source. it's not as good as 1.6 though. but remember, it's still very early on, and they can fix alot of the problems with it!!!! remember how bad source was during beta/early launch?

u just said movements maps everything, not the actual way of those things making the game weaker in a tactical/teamplay way. Imo the maps allow even more teamplay in terms of flashes/smokes/decoy than any 1.6 map before cause of the "over the roof" grenades etc. It's just different, not less tactical.
