x6tence e-Sports Club have announced that their Counter-Strike: 1.6 team have now switched their focus to Global Offensive.
The decision comes just 24 hours after the organisation behind DreamHack Valencia decided that CS:GO would be played at the event instead of 1.6.
x6tence, who bowed out at GameGune in the group stage, stated that they will still attend the Spanish DreamHack stop, but lamented that the organisation switched games just one week before the start of the tournament.
"We are aware that our chances have been drastically reduced and aiming for the victory will be hard because we are at a clear disadvantage when compared to the rest of the national and international teams," an x6tence press release read.
Meanwhile, x6tence confirmed that they will be using Kirian "Yaba" Martínez, a former member of OverGame's Counter-Strike: Source team, as a stand-in for DH Valencia.
The former EPS champion will replace David "Kairi" de Miguel, who has stepped down as an active player due to "a number of reasons, especially the lack of motivation to switch to a new game."
x6tence now have the following line-up:
Antonio "FlipiN" Rivas
Omar "arki" Chakkor
Victor "xikii" García
Jesús "oFF" Castillo García
Kirian "Yaba" Martínez (stand-in for DH Valencia)
David "Kairi" de Miguel (inactive)
