NorthCon with 9,000€ for CS:GO
Time: 2012-09-16 14:28
Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

A 9,000€ CS:GO tournament will take place at NorthCon, a German LAN party, on December 14-15. A total of 16 teams will be able to participate and the winner will take home 5,000€.

NorthCon eSport Arena announced a prize purse of 20,000€ for its League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournaments. The FPS game will see a slightly smaller share of that prize money, giving out 9,000€ to its top four finishers.

The tournament will take place at NorthCon, a big computer and eSport festival in Neumünster, a town in the north of Germany.

According to the event's website, it is planned to have 16 teams for CS:GO, most of which will be invited based on their applications. Teams can apply for an invite until November 1, for more information on how to do that click here.

Some of the slots are also reserved for direct qualifications. Only the BYOC qualifier at the NorthCon LAN party is known to offer one spot for the main tournament so far, but it is stressed that another way of qualifying will be revealed next week.

NorthCon eSport Arena prize distribution

1. 5,000€
2. 2,500€
3. 1,000€
4. 500€

The BYOC qualifier will take place on December 13, while the main tournament is scheduled for December 14-15.

Stay tuned to HLTV.org as we will keep you updated with news about this tournament, as well as any other events that might turn up in the meantime.

that sure aint 1.6 million

Ignoring Dreamhack..? And when exactly did 1.6 last have 100k or 50k? CS 1.6 is over, deal with it, we can either rebuild in CS:GO, or have FPS esport die.
2012-09-16 15:07:36
+1
2012-09-16 15:10:00
IEM Season IV and VI Finals. -.-
2012-09-16 15:35:23
lol
2012-09-16 15:48:15
1.6 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CS:GO , deal with it ..
I'm really surprised , Nomad the owner of the "HLTV.org" website which has been all about 1.6 turns his back on 1.6 ROFL...
Seriously man , CS:GO is shit and it won't make it to the top in 2 million years.
2012-09-16 15:55:23
How is he not gonna turn the back on a game that is over? There is nothing you can do. Besides, 1.6 didnt have 50k prizes with 1 month of existance for sure ;)
2012-09-16 15:57:36
Bitch please , you can't compare a legendary game to one of the biggest failure in the history of Valve ..

come on dude, cs a just a game not a fuckin religion, it is now dead, what do you want hltv.org to do about it? There are practically no tournaments left and very few active teams so just let it go...
2012-09-16 16:17:30
if cs 1.6 dies hltv must die to!
2012-09-16 16:51:08
wow, so all the hard work the owners have put into HLTV should just stop, because 1.6 is dead. All that history of HLTV being around for so many years, should stop because 1.6 is dead.

How fucking selfish are you?
2012-09-16 17:07:03
grow up kid.. hltv only care about money...
2012-09-16 20:27:28
What? Are you even for real, if there is no more 1.6 tournaments then surely they cannot continue to cover 1.6, and therefore have to cover GO?
2012-09-16 21:18:54
hltv cover source? tell me! hltv only cares about money.. the work its not free... he receive a lot of money by valve!

Yes I am sure they are paid employees of Valve, would you like to prove these stupid allegations?
2012-09-16 22:41:47
call ... advertising ! why hltv dont care about source ? and now because 1.6 is dying they do advertising to cs go
2012-09-17 00:26:30
Because when Source came out it was an absolute mess of a game, only thanks to zBlock were we saved. That and when Source came out, there were still tournaments supporting 1.6, Source had to make it's own community, it's own scene, and it's own tournaments.

HLTV didn't want to cover that at all, that was their decision. The point being (and the difference) is that EVERY single major event and tournament organiser has completely DROPPED 1.6 in favour of switching to CS:GO means that if HLTV are to survive as a website dedicated to covering Counter Strike that it is only logical to move with the times and support CS:GO.
2012-09-17 01:19:37
HLTV was all about Counter Strike not just 1.6,deal with fact that 1.6 is dead competitive ,but that dose NOT mean that you cant play it,and right now csgo is a great game, still have some problems and need improvment but i cant think of a game that was release perfect every game gets updated and even counter strike was not release as counter strike 1.6

Anyway happy rosh ha shana to HLTV.org

2012-09-16 16:56:48
it has nothing do to to the gameplay boy, but as esport 1.6 is dead and the future is GO, so deal with it.. or go and delete acc cause i'm fucking tired of these brainless idiots, srsly 80% of hltv.org users are these kind of ragekids..
2012-09-16 19:29:57
I have mentioned about this in my last post, cs:go won't be an esport game, 'cus this game is just too bad for competitive, fpses r already dead in esports, sad but true.
2012-09-16 16:22:29
WCG 2011 half year ago?
2012-09-16 16:46:16
how much valve pay you?
2012-09-16 16:47:28
I love these ridiculous comments in which Valve bribes HLTV staff to say so.

Nomad is right, 1.6 is over and the only chance to keep CS alive, is CS:GO.

.. Or hope CSP to succeed (which is very unlikely to happen).
2012-09-16 18:42:10
i dont care about cs go...

Then filter CS:GO news out.

Anything else will lead to you playing with fire, and, just like the rest, you will end up burnt.
2012-09-17 00:57:18
Not sure about 100k but CPL had $50,000 didn't it?
2012-09-16 17:11:22
Yup, and there were LOTS of CPL events.

GO WILL NEVER BEAT CS 1.6 MAYBY IN SPONSOR MINDS BUT NOT IN TRUE GOOD GAME FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And have it die in the process, good thinking..
2012-09-20 08:23:28
well, i'd like to FPS esport die, cuz without 1.6 its not the same scene for me. Gtfo with GO, i played it 2 minutes than i've deleted it. They cant make the game "better" because its unplayable, i cant even look at this game. Its boring, not exciting like some moments in 1.6. Its just my opinion : )
2012-09-20 20:50:33
deluded
2012-09-16 15:24:09

players moved to cs:go with huge prizes in their minds , but that wont happen ... believe me ... U guys killed 1.6 (VALVE , HLTV , NEWBS , CSS PLAYERS , AND OTHER ROBOTS) , thinking that this would be a great competitive game- ok u guys failed , and now cs will die . I remember css in MLG times HAD GREAT prizes and after 2 years the game dies - you wanna know why??? cuz it wasnt so addictive like 1.6 gameplay ... in my old times i could play 15 hours of cs.... but in GO U CANT... Valve is doing the bad option again .. this stupid ideia that u can unite all fps players in one game is total bullshit. And for all BOBS ROBOTS NEWBS HLTV AND ETC dont u forget that we killed 1.6 to have 9K prizes tournaments
2012-09-16 19:13:08
Yeh I stop reading at css mlg times.
2012-09-16 19:17:56
this wall of text = puke

2012-09-16 19:51:21
+1 thank to god, for not soo many idiots here
2012-09-16 23:27:54
u have no clue what are u talking about.
CGS had a lot of a viewers, like a few millions, but
it wasn't nuff good in times of global recession, it's all about money dude, a real huge amount of money, not urs "$50k HUGE tournaments". 1.6 never had a chance to compare with real sporting games in terms of TV broadcasting, because "pixels" can't be any attractive for a common TV-viewer, it was interesting only for fans and geeks, so urs 20k @ HLTV and another 20k on streams are bullshit for a big business. FPS (even it was Source) had a chance to big as massive as real worldwide sport :)
I don't know how old are you, but I'm sure every teenager must to know that marketing is a usual part of modern life, 1.6 had an "extra" life by maecenas like Arbalet, but it is just a case. No one company will give money for tournament's prizefound and won't rent a decent venue just for free or because their sales manager likes to play 1.6 too. 1.6 is an old game and for advertising it's just a waste [2012/2013 you know] so why the fock companies should waste their own money for advertising if it's not profitable and has no future, of course most of young newcomers will choose new modern game. Well, single ad. never works, that's the rule (that's why almost same companies support different tournaments as u can see), so CS:GO is "shit game" for you, but for orgs it's just a new market place. 1.6 is killed by history (and marketers, but read them as "history" too, because they are), the game is just too old.
You're probably troll, but I wrote it for another people who were blind and ignorant.

cool story, now tell me if u kill a zombie u get one more dead or u lose one dead
2012-09-19 20:11:47
it was deadborn game for geeks, but the main aim of tv broadcasting are not fans and geeks. do u understand the difference between HLTV and TV? common people simply don't give a fuck about 1.6 and CS:S communities, they just want a show with ultrainfrahyper effects, which exactly can't be found in 1.6, with source... but times go on :)
2012-09-20 08:43:51
wtf did I asked?
2012-09-20 20:20:46
nope i am not a troll , and i writte it with clue, i guess u missunderstood , i never said that cs must continue.. cuz i know 1.6- is for oldplayers like me , is not so atractive to new players , but the change for cs:go is wrong, i think u lost ur time everyone knows that cs is not profitable for companies - but yes cs:go will be the last part of this saga cuz they killed the game , there are so many games better than cs:go in fps market , and u forget that -- its about versions...there will be new cod , new BF , and many many more - and GO will just die, i am 22 and i am talking serious
