dotpiXels in EPS prize dispute
By: MIRAA

Game: Counter-Strike 1.6

Sune "crZy" Hansen has revealed that dotpiXels have refused to pay the players their share of the EPS winnings.

dotpiXels secured the league's first prize of €4,300 following a 2-0 victory against Team ALTERNATE at the LAN finals in August.

Hansen claims that prior to the team joining dotpiXels, it was verbally agreed that the players were entitled to the entirety of the prize money they would get, but the organisation is now allegedly refusing to keep their end of the deal.

"When our manager first approached dotpiXels, he agreed with them that we were okay to play without a salary because they could not afford to pay one at that time, but the prizes were going to us 100 per cent" Hansen told HLTV.org.

"After the EPS finals, I wanted to make a new deal about the prize money. We actually only wanted €500 per player and the rest would go to dotpiXels.

"We did not even want all the money, because something should also go to the organisation, even if they had no expenses.

"He now claims that we said we never wanted any prize money and that he told us he would not give us anything."

According to Hansen, the only time dotpiXels had to spend any money on the team was when Roman "roman" Ausserdorfer was brought in to replace Marko "ceLL" Knist half way through the season.

"I spoke with [dotpiXels CEO] Christian "Vith3r" Reißig and I told him I could get roman for the team, but that it would cost €400," he added.

"He thought about it, and he said it was okay. That was the only expense they had."

The Danish player further claimed that the team had been promised the opportunity to attend a LAN event, but that the dotpiXels organisation also failed to fulfil that agreement.

"When we reached the EPS playoffs, we talked about attending an event (PGS as we had been invited or DreamHack Bucharest)," Hansen noted.

"We were promised that as long as we would beat DkH at the EPS finals, we would be sent to a tournament, or that we would at least look into it.

"After we won the EPS finals, I spoke with Vith3r and he said he would have a look at everything that was necessary for us to go to PGS.

"But nothing happened again."

HLTV.org has contacted dotpiXels for reaction, but without any success so far. The team who won the EPS finals consisted of:

Roman "roman" Ausserdorfer
André "Kirby" Kempa
Thorsten "thoR" Kunz
Sune "crZy" Hansen
Nabil "BULI" Rachid

"Hansen claims that prior to the team joining dotpiXels, it was verbally agreed"

If nothing was signed then it's your own mistake. Just sad but it's full of wankers nowadays.
2012-09-18 19:27:57
a verbally agreement is also good in some occasions
2012-09-18 19:40:53
verbal agreement holds legal power as well
2012-09-18 20:01:37
in this case not at all
2012-09-18 20:03:12
Yeah but it can be a bit hard to prove your verbal agreement.
2012-09-18 20:41:06
As #24 and #37 say, you cannot prove a verbal agreement unless it's recorded or heard by witnesses being there during the deal. That's why a written agreement nearly always holds up, as it is a valid evidence. If dotpiXels can't prove the agreement I am afraid they don't have a say. It could neither be proved nor disproved in court - and that would leave the trial with word against word.

as i was on phone with a danish lawyer today she explained me the following:

the judge would be focusing alot on these things:

Previous distribution of prizes from previous winners (i.e mouz like forever who got 100% prizemoney)
Salary payment contra prize distribution
And in general how it is in term of esports and prize distribution for teams.

And as she said, no sportsman would be putting much time to anything for free when there are money to be earned.

With 5 players & 1 managers testimony we should have a pretty solid case.
2012-09-19 17:07:41
There is no way you can predict how a judge will handle the issue. So the points you are lining up are not necessarily something you can rely on. It is just points you may try to argue for - not really things that would turn out as a win, but of course you can always hope. I definitely think that it is unfair to treat you this way but if the money goes to the organization, the apportion is on their demands unless there is a solid evidence of money going your way.

Ha ha, and yeah, the lawyer is absolutely right about a sportsman (professional I assume) not putting much time to anything for free. But I wouldn't really categorize a sparetime CS player as a sportsman.

And I do not think that 5 players against 1 manager is an advantage since you are all on the same team.

However, I hope that you end up solving this.

shame on dotpiXels
2012-09-18 19:40:26
its partly their mistake. they should have had a formal agreement. that way they could at least challenge them in court!
2012-09-18 19:41:17
exactly
2012-09-18 20:44:57
In ways its their own fault not having a written agreement, but still its unfair on the players who won the money anyway. Even 1800 is a fair amount of profit for an org and would go a long with for LAN support.. :\
2012-09-18 19:42:58
unlucky small sons
2012-09-18 19:44:29
The lineup should leave, perfect example how organisations play with there "young" players.

they should have written it on paper but we all know you can not put everything on paper.

Even if you would and that it can be used against the orga if it doesn't pay, well you should go to court but that is gonna cost even more :/
2012-09-18 19:50:40
wow seriously? this guys were all in to win that EPS and you do this to them... What a shame
2012-09-18 20:09:39
what a fucking organisation
2012-09-18 20:10:56
why would ur team manager even get the money instead of the team captain?

sorry but this is just ur own fault and hope u learn ur lesson
2012-09-18 20:12:00
....
2012-09-18 20:15:59
So they didnt pay for your trip to EPS finals etc? Why even be in the org. then?

Why were these dotpiXel players so damn generous despite the fact that there were no expenses and they weren't getting a salary? Every other person in the world would want 100% of the prize and nothing less.

Nice guys always end up getting ripped off in the end it seems. Sad but true.

how did the payment even work??? are you on some kind of contract where dotpixels has to get the check and then pay out later OR is just 1 person is allowed? Don't know how this could happen in 2012 lol.

atleast for ESEA for ONLINE everyone is required to fill out a identical form for to get paid.

for LAN you just grab the money after you win but now they use a big cheque but it may involve the same process of filling forms out.

google translate? :P
But hes saying that we said that we would play the last season without salary & prizemoney because it was the last 1.6 season - 50% is true of that - we agreed to play without salary as it was the last 1.6 season as stated in the news.

Furthermore he talks about 50 euro he wont pay to BULI because he think we used more than 420€ on driving to germany and back (470€ with hes train ticket)
However its money he never even had to think about, cause it came from the ESL.
Furthermore he claims that me and buli used more than 500 euro on the trip because he had to book hotel for us - thats true, but he forgot to tell that our hostel costed 30€ and why it was 70€ was because he had to order for 2 of hes mates aswell.

Then hes saying why some of the other players arent coming with statements which is why roman will pop a statement later today.

Rest is bs

After reading the dotpixels statement I believe them more than cRzy. crZy has a history of talking a lot of bullshit. This statement on hltv mentions nothing of all the other costs that dotpixels have, if you want to go out and accuse an organisation of not paying anything then at least include everything that they did pay for (they shouldn't have to pay 2x for a ferry because you're too stupid to be on time).

If there is no proof that you didn't agree to what they claim then there is no story. They've paid for a lot for you, yes you won, but if you're that stupid to agree to things verbally it's your own fault crZy.

huh? lol - forth and back? - dont we need to go home from germany or? :) we were actually the first to arrive in germany (a day before) so maybe you should understand that statement - or maybe YOU are too stupid? :)

They've paid alot for us? are you kidding me? they didnt have 1 expense with us for our entire time in dotpiXels.
