New CS:GO patch released

Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The CS:GO developers have released a small patch to fix some of the new things that were brought by the previous update.

Earlier in the week, Valve put together an update which not only introduced two new maps (de_vertigo and ar_monastery) and the match-making system, but also fixed some gameplay issues.

The new patch, which was released this morning, fixes a number of bugs on de_vertigo and in CS:GO itself, while tidying up the match-making system.

Below you can find the patch log, explaining in detail what has been fixed:

[ Minor Fixes ]

Matchmaking
-Added a vote to continue playing competitive match with bots after a human player abandons the match, unanimous agreement of remaining human players is required to continue playing with bots.
-Reduced time required for confirming match when searching for competitive players and servers.
-Improved overall search times in competitive queue mode.
-Added a client message when the wamup period ends.
-Extended competitive match warmup period to 90 seconds.
-Message of the day will automatically dismiss itself when competitive match starts.
-Added an explanation to competitive cooldown timer for clients.
-Added a condition to apply competitive cooldown to players who have disconnected from the match.
-Implemented scaling cooldown periods for repeat incidences.

Vertigo
-Rearranged props below the boost-up ladder to prevent players jumping onto the ladder without boosting
-Clipped off various tiny ledges
-Made small props protruding from walls non-solid
-Fixed visible nodraw in ceiling hole

Misc
-Fixed a long standing bug where you could lose mouse input when you got to the team select screen.
-Fixed a bug where the color correction during freeze time did not account for the players also being invulnerable during the new warmup - this fixed the CC gap at the start.
-Fixed some bugs relating to the warmup notification not reliably showing for late joiners.
-The chat now displays when the warmup has ended, just like when it is in progress.

Good to see they keep on tweaking the matchmaking, a few patches more to go before it is really usable though..
2012-10-04 16:41:25
I can't see how 'these kinds of patches' have anything to do with the game becoming 'more usable'..

Then clearly your brain doesn't work properly?

K.
2012-10-04 16:59:58
he just means this doesn't affect the game play so it's not "more" playable
2012-10-04 17:02:07
playable game IS NOT THE SAME AS usable matchmaking
2012-10-04 20:58:30
I know, I didn't say he was accurate, just explained what seemed obvious in order to shut up ashed's mouth since I don't like these kind of free aggressive taunts :)

Btw I said it all, it's not about gameplay so he's not happy with that update, that's all.
2012-10-04 23:57:15
+1!
2012-10-04 20:57:32
He meant before "matchmaking is really usable"...
what's wrong with your English?
2012-10-04 17:06:20
There's nothing wrong with my English, it's perfect. I was just drunk.

cool story
2012-10-04 20:24:03
math? still better than csgo.
2012-10-05 03:23:08
Matchmaking is pretty good but I don't like it.
2012-10-04 16:41:39
;)
2012-10-04 16:43:56
maybe ELO does help that people rage quit matchmaking often
but i wonder that ELO system like LOL is good for a fps game or not
2012-10-04 16:44:34
Oh, Valve.

Small thing, but still:
They are updating a map like vertigo, but why the hell didnt they just update the original foggy maps with the _se versions...
2012-10-04 16:45:32
how are they then gonna attract all the casual gamers without foggy shit maps? Can't you understand their business??!!

Because I can't. They have obviously failed in bringing in new players. Now they just have to realise that.
2012-10-04 17:03:00
no they didnt , still 50k and 35k people playing 1.6 and source , CSGO attracted shit ton of COD/BF scrubs , which sadly means fog/PP changes are not going to be done in the near future.

2012-10-04 17:31:18
so 15k is shit ton?
2012-10-04 17:51:15
are you trolling me?
my point is CSGO is only about casuals that never played 1.6 , i dont care if its 15k or 150k .
As long as CSGO consists of this casual playerbase , no changes will be made to the maps in the future.
2012-10-04 18:07:35
And why is that there aren`t that many cs 1.6 players in cs:go? Isn`t maps one of main reasons for cs 1.6 players to dislike cs:go?
2012-10-04 18:20:46
you dont say ...
2012-10-04 18:24:31
are you trolling me?
my point is that they have tried to make the game attractive for casual players but obviously (steam stats) they have failed.

Now they need to realise that and focus on the competetive scene.
2012-10-04 18:59:23
But I really thought about that fact, but the map looks uglier in any perspective with the fog... Who is in charge of the map designs: FIRE HIM!!!
2012-10-04 21:35:17
agreed!
2012-10-04 22:03:35
Still no nuke_ve and mirage in matchmaking :(
2012-10-04 16:47:26
indeed pretty sad ..
2012-10-04 16:50:07
They should add community maps just like in tf2

+1 but they gotta replace their versions as well.
2012-10-04 20:23:20
guys, anyone knows what is the best way to write to valve? so they will use _se maps and nuke_ve + mirage?
because clearly they have no clue/idea what is important
2012-10-04 16:53:11
Nice update @vertigo
2012-10-04 16:56:57
matchmaking is now crashing ! After voting to kick bots, game just crashes. We need more maps in matchmaking like _se and _ve
2012-10-04 16:59:48
Fix the no smoke exploit, most important thing atm.

Seriously, the new matchmaking system is totally crap I prefer the way it was before
2012-10-04 17:01:40
Matchmaking update sucks :|
Tried to play 4 games in a row with friend , always someone leave and game is canceled... Even at 10:0 score...
2012-10-04 17:06:44
they should rather make the game itself better instead of so much around it
2012-10-04 17:18:16
+1
all this trifles cannot make a game better which is basically ruined. if they were smart they would have just let the guys from promod do the game for them and release it as their new cs. but of course they have to create some bullshit again..
2012-10-04 18:36:34
Hope they do some updates to get cs:go more accessible to lower pc's, like they did on source in 2004 :/
2012-10-04 17:18:56
i hope to see update about improve fps ingame
2012-10-04 17:21:40
I know I'll probably get flamed for saying this but they should have some levels or some sort of points in matchmaking (yes, like CoD :X). I feel like it'd be a bit more competitive (for pubs per say).
2012-10-04 17:21:55
I didn't read the article so well, so I'm asking if there's some "ban system" for those who are leaving the game in the middle of a match?
2012-10-04 17:23:55
its the first fps with matchmaking? its not easy creating something new.. i bet if they make it good other fps titels will copy it ;)
2012-10-04 17:28:42
It's not the first PFS game with matchmaking, not even the first valve game with matchmaking.

2012-10-04 17:43:19
Which FPS did have matchmaking? Just wondering
2012-10-04 18:22:03
All COD's since COD 4, almost all Halo's, L4d's, a shiton of F2P FPS', like Gotham City Impostors, Tribes: Ascend, and the list goes on and on.
2012-10-04 18:48:25
none of them have elo based matchmaking.
2012-10-05 02:49:24
They don't call it a elo system (that's just a new marketing trend), but it still matches players by comparing ranks, levels, wins and other statistics, to create an equal battle.
2012-10-05 19:00:59
Quakelive has a matchmaking system...and it sucks :D
2012-10-04 18:50:24
hater gonna hate !!
2012-10-04 17:32:10
really need a visible Elo system
2012-10-04 17:32:21
no GOTV - they wont succeed in competetive gaming.
2012-10-04 17:35:03
worst update ever , i didnt finished a single game since this update , warm UP MUST HAVE UNLIMITED BUY TIME .. OK??
2012-10-04 17:38:13
+1 hate matchmaking
2012-10-04 17:49:29
i didnt finished a single game too 1 left and some idiot vote with F2 and the match is over this is so stupid ...
2012-10-04 17:50:46
fix movement and recoil
valve do sucks work
2012-10-04 17:55:25
Well done Valve! Keep patching the game.
2012-10-04 18:05:05
can someone tell me why i didnt find monastery on any server yesterday???? im pretty sure i read "2 new maps" not just vertigo.
2012-10-04 18:07:10
monastery is for arms race, not competitive
2012-10-04 18:22:49
what a shit update for the matchmaking, played like 5 matches, and not even 1 match lasted till the side switch -_-

2012-10-04 18:20:25

2012-10-04 18:16:41

2012-10-04 18:35:06
Keep on updating!!!! GO GO VALVE U KNOW WHAT TO FIX !! :D
2012-10-04 18:58:02
AMAZING PATCH
2012-10-04 19:02:35
They should increase the amount of time people get when they abandon a match. It's already on scalebasis 5-10 and so on.. but I think it should be 5min-30min-1hr-5hr-12hr.. even players who keep leaving and have several "leaves" should be banned for 1-2days (only from Competitive MatchMaking).. and it'll become a huge filter where only "serious" players will be able to COMPETE. Elo has to do with it too, players with higher elo are unlikely to leave a match. We'll have new players (low elo) trying to know how to play a competitive match and veteran players enjoying the matchmaking system.
2012-10-04 19:38:07
recoil is still shit ?
Im waiting for recoil fixing, bah
2012-10-04 20:00:53
People will stop leaving when their rank is at stake, but at the moment they only lose time so they do it
2012-10-04 22:19:09
Valve is doing a great job, but still hope that they will do something with the movement and bunnyhopping.. its so bad!

"-Added a vote to continue playing competitive match with bots after a human player abandons the match, unanimous agreement of remaining human players is required to continue playing with bots."

This is how every competitive game goes down now: Team wins 5 rounds in a row. Someone rage quits. Vote to continue playing. Vote doesn't pass. Game ends after 5 rounds. I have yet to play a game that has lasted more than 5 rounds after this update.

Valve is failing pretty hard at creating a working matchmaking system.
2012-10-04 23:31:32
so you got 5 rounds!! that must have been a record:) valve fail big time!!!
2012-10-05 17:19:04
You're hilarious.

Yeah. nah. You're not.
2012-10-05 20:04:43
no wonder the world is the way it is!!!
2012-10-06 13:14:22
Nothing useful at all..
2012-10-05 03:35:47
Just played, and the matchmaking update is fucking broken. Once you start playing for 4 rounds, a person leaves and it's almost impossible to get a unanimous vote to continue playing.
2012-10-05 04:07:11
2/12 games completed. A 5 min cooldown wtf like thats a deterrent ? Ban rage quitters for atleast 2-3 hours.
2012-10-05 04:17:17
http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2012/10/5.. try to read first.. it's a big filter.. once every kid, rage quitters, noobs, etc. get banned for 1 week or 24 hours, there'll be better queues. This is teaching CS:GO community not to fucking leave a "competitive match" (pug). People don't like it? think is stupid because VALVe is stoping people from playing?.. That kind of people are just dumb. I think it's really good what they've done and will improve competitive scene.
2012-10-05 05:04:04
matchmaker sux!!! I CANT PLAY ONE GAME LIKE PPL!!! FOR 2 HOURS 14 games restarts !!!!!!
2012-10-05 09:05:51
NOTHING SPECIAL !

I played like 6 games since the patch, didn't finish any of them: Some team wins 4 rounds, rage quit by someone, never get an unanimous vote, game over after 4 rounds. So annoying, I like playing cs go, but this shit doesn't allow me to do it...
