Valve has shipped a new update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Today's update solves a long standing problem in CS by allowing crashed players to reconnect with the money they had prior to crashing.
Tonight's update doesn't include many game changers and is mostly just minor bug fixes, but Valve has managed to sneak in one update many would consider extremely helpful for competitive play.
Below are the update notes for the 11th October 2012 update of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive:
[ Minor Fixes ]
-Fixed bomb defusal resetting when a server lags below 20fps.
-Fixed a case where the round and timer were not being updated when spectating.
-Fixed another case where warmup alerts panel didn't show for late joiners.
-Fixed a crash that would happen when you died that associated with the spectator panel.
-Fixed general scaleform crashes.
-Made radio commands also selectable via the keypad numbers.
-Fixed enemies on radar that were above/below you showing their up/down indicators rotated.
-Made alive/dead state on the spectator UI easier to read.
-Replaced mp_teamname_t and mp_teamname_ct with mp_teamname_1 and mp_teamname_2 to disambiguate convars from sides in a mode that supports team switching at halftime. Now the names follow the teams after the switch. ( mp_teamname_1 is the team that first plays CT ).
-Changed spectator HUD to show which primary weapon each player has purchased during freeze time.
-Made spectator HUD show all grenades carried by each player.
[ Classic Competitive Changes ]
-Added an explanation about competitive mode rules to better explain its difference from other modes.
-Added save/restore of cash for competitive matches: When a player disconnects and reconnects in competitive mode, their pre-disconnect money will now be preserved.
-Added a button requiring players to ready-up when a competitive match is found. When all 10 players ready-up then the matchmaking servers lock them in for the match. Abandoning at any point after clicking the ACCEPT button will result in Competitive cooldown.
-Increased competitive cooldowns to 30 minutes for first offense, 2 hours for second offense and so on.
-Kicking a player no longer offers a vote to continue. The game will proceed with a bot in place of the kicked player.
Valve also added two features for the spectator HUD, first one will show which primary weapon a player has purchased and the second will now show all grenades carried by a player.
What do you think about the recent update? What do you think Valve needs to fix? Leave a comment below and let us know what you think!
As for what needs to be fixed, its never that simple. It may look simple from the outside looking in but what a lot of you fail to understand is that game design is like a rubix cube. You change one thing and the other size of your puzzle is completely fucked. These things take careful planning and lots of thought.
You guys live very sheltered existances when it comes to your understanding of this industry. Outside of competitive/professional gaming, Valve is considered the best developer of all time. They are incredibly intelligent about their design choices, they care about their fans and they are incredibly philanthropic to the video games industry. Some of you should pick up Half-Life 2 or Portal and check out the developer commentary if you want some insight on game design and why a lot of what you guys say is so completely misguided.

they want to combine atleast 3 fps scenes in 1 so its logical that this game is different from 1.6,they have to make a lot of compromises.
Post edited 2012-10-12 09:06:57
and its marketing move ofc.cs is legendary game so they want to benefit from that

Communities rage is a struggled attempt to cling on to what they know and are comfortable with, it's like a mourning period that never ends...
Before, you let my first post that contained flaming to be alive, but then, after the discussion had gone on for about 5++ replies from me and you'd hit your lost and proved your lack in the brain area, you reported it in order to hide your lost?
What kind of loser are you? Is your penis that small, dude? I feel sorry for you.
But, I guess you're going to report this post again now since I post a fact about your penis.
FIFA '99 to '13 is called a total upgrade, while 1.6 to GO isn't. GO lacks the 'feel'. The only upgrades it has are its new graphics, interfaces, and new features (which are arguably flawed as well). The only way for your comparison to be right is if FIFA '99 has a more flexible and reliable character movement, and if FIFA '13 has more robotic and limited character movement. But, since it's not the case, you might just shut the f up for your own sake to not further humiliate your own self in front of the world :D
..or you can repeat and prove the idiocy of humanity for one more time, and I'll be more than happy to serve you and reply with smile and a cup of popcorn on my lap :D
As for updates, valve are making changes but it requires time and a demand from the community. If everyone just constantly bitches what incentive does valve have to pander to you?
They are a multi billion dollar company, completely self funded, there are no investors, producers, stock holders, CEOs, COOs, or whatever telling them what to do, they do what they want/like and their goal is just to make good games.
CS is just a small part of their portfolio (they've done Half-Life, Portal, L4D, TF, Dota 2, etc), it probably isn't even the more profitable of their games.
And about changing the game itself, cmon lol, the difficulty isn't the problem, like i said, they just don't want to change, the best developers in the world can't make a silencer for M4 for example? Or keep the USP? Or remove boxes? And the funny thing is, they didn't need to add it, they just didn't need to remove it lol.
BTW:
"Clan: Fnatic
CS Version: GO
Tournament: IEM"
makes sense? rofl
In a video game.People only can complain if they bought through steam and the publisher can give a fuck about that. I dont say Valve does it but other publishers do and if they can do it why not others?
Yeah there are maybe 10% which give the item back but i bet with you its max 10% which take the expenditures for that. Most just accept things like Hey it was cheap and some parts of the game are okay or good so they keep it. Be honest with me. Dont you think this is how the game market works these days?
At least they fix the buggs not like other publisher/developers do these days. So thats a plus

Valve is obsessed with testing and QA, they don't just add features, they test them and try to understand what that feature changes in the game, why the players enjoy it or not (they are also obsessed with player psychology), why the players want in the game (what's the underlying problem), if it can be improved, etc. It's well known that they more than often remove entire chapters from their games if they don't seem good enough during testing.
find it pretty useful
i hope so or im gonna kill myself
You shouldn't 'risk' your life that easy though ;P

All of these little updates are awesome but I still feel like im playing CoD or BF2 when I play GO. I give is a new chance every update and the recoil is the only thing that REALLY turns me away.
I would ask for the movement, that's what make CS what it is (was?) today, the freedom of movement, the almost infinite and amazing jump/tricks you can do. What i hate the most in CS:GO is the feeling of walking, just pressing W and A S lol, i feel like a fucking bot (literally) playing.
The visual damage reciever at models (offensive) >what is really a HeadShot< definition. But also defensive - how much HP im loosing with a more direct/concrete simultanous awareness. Those doesnt connects that instant with a clear feeling like it "should".
Also, not least the movement. Seems you cant get as much advantage with highly skilled and "beautyful" movementpatterns like airstrafes and such, not in the same extension, at least.
I agree with this even if i like CS:GO and how it actually develops, step by step... :)
+ for the effort though..
taget of this sequel is simply harvest money and try to bring 1 or 2 new things
more or less wouldnt be adequate
What would I change? - Movement. Exactly as explained above, this kind of movement makes you feel like a bot. It seems ridiculous.
There's hundreds of places on the different maps that seem to be accessible, but for some reason they're not. Example of this is the scaffold on de_dust2, right next to the ramp at T-spawn. It would be a little more realistic if it was changed.
The AWP has truly been downgraded to an advanced type of weapon that requires a whole new skillset. All the maps have gotten smaller, quickscoping is next to impossible, you cant keep holding shoot (mouse1) for it to shoot twice and you move like a bot. I find it strange, seeing that being an awp'er in 1.6 (don't know about Source) already required a unique skillset, which is why there were so few talented awp'ers before.
Also, it would be truly awesome if there were more new weapons or.. I don't know. Perhaps a modification option on the weapons that would affect the recoil, power etc. Examples of this; Silencer, rifle butt and so on.. It could be modified in advance and located as special options somewhere on the buymenu when choosing the specific weapon.

BAN molotows
cancel on de_inferno blind room next movie in the house
on de_train add some object on the deuce is empty it can not be worth anyone's cover and extend the gap between the walls and trains can not be there to help move and strafe man is like a running goal
i think valve already knows what to change but because of the low rate of gamers playing csgo, they will still keep updating almost useless updates and they hope that csgo will die fast, because they cant get anymore money out of it.

other ok.
What you want to disable to increase fps?
you play vs people 5on5 and you have ranking/history so you will play as best as you can just to have more wins then lost matches :)

Leaving also needs a more permanent punishment, like a drop in skill points or something.
Still needs to remove the bomb plant sound, as far as I have seen, that can never be used competitively, and makes 1on1s so incredibly CT biased.
Silencer would be nice, along with some recoil tampering, to make it less random.
Need Nuke_VE and Mirage adding to the matchmaking system.
Would be nice to have like a team tournament system, that just automates simple knockout tournaments, but obviously, that's just my wishes :D
Also, imho opinion i think radar should be removed also, or made to not show enemies, because it removes the need to call that the bomber is attacking the site you are defending whilst you are trying to kill him, which was a skill. Now you just concentrate on killing him and your teammates from the otherside of the map just look at their radar.
Knife rounds on matchmaking system would be pretty cool. And maybe a vote for a 2 minute break at halftime.
Also you should be able to opt in as a team, and choose to only play other teams (perhaps select a skill level?)
Also, the matchmaking system needs to take into account pings. I should not be forced to play on some random server where i have 150 ping. If there is only a server with 150 ping, tell me before I accept, cause i would rather just play public than waste 30 minutes of my life lagging around.
obviously, like a million other people have said, improve the movement, cause it's pretty shite at the minute, we need more freedom & strafing.
Molotovs should be removed or the damage they deal should be considerably lowered (and they should explode on impact)
p2000 should be improved, or p250 should be the CTs starting pistol.
Make the c4 icon more obvious, so many people don't realise they have the bomb when they die
Few minutes ago I played match, one player dropped and vote apeared, all voted that want to play with bot.
About the bomb plant sound:
http://64bitvps.com/csgo/ticket/decrease-volumerad..
http://64bitvps.com/csgo/ticket/remove-the-beeping..
Silencer true, recoil yes but only tapping.
They should add new game mode: Competetive Classic Custom with only custom installed map.
Team tournament system nice but first they should to tweak matchmaking.
+1 about radar, knife round and vote for break time, choosing server with smaller ping, movement tweak, tweak molotovs, tweak p2000 or change p250 as default primary for CT, do message that we have the bomb in start round.
And cause the games are hosted on valves servers, it would be hard to do classic competitive custom, as every server would need all the maps, but I don't see why they can't add the "community dubbed" competitive maps.
Updates after 7 days and still sucks.
Fucktards.
how is cs:go even remotely close to battlefield? has even any of the numbskulls who post in here ever played it?
1400000 players // 500 000 peak // 07/26/2011
107,936 players // 108,721 Dota 2
15,720 // 16,367 CS GO
This is my last post on HLTV.
Have fun in dead game :D
HAHAHAHAH bye
