Colin "Brute" Volrath, the creator of de_tuscan, has indicated that the highly-popular map will be available for CS:GO in the space of weeks.
With CS:GO still taking its first steps in terms of offline events, many have been wondering about when a CS:GO version of de_tuscan will be ready so that the tournaments can have a wider map pool.
Volrath, who also created de_forge and de_russka, believes that de_tuscan for CS:GO will be ready in time for DreamHack Winter, but alerted that the map may slightly differ from his 1.6 and CS:Source versions.
"It is coming along very well," he told Vakarm.net. "I'm really putting in the hours this past month and the remainder of October to get this map completed.
"The map needs to be adjusted and changed based on the environmental play of CS:GO. The physical layout of the map is not going to change much, if anything, however.
"But the actual look and feel of the map is going to change, it needs to look more open and take full advantage of the Source engine's awesome power, that the old 1.6 engine just was not able to handle.
"As for game-play I have not really received much negative feedback on what anyone likes or dislikes with this map, so the map is going to stay the same gameplay-wise unless something changes in the next two weeks from the community."
In this interview, Volrath also talks about how he started creating maps, sheds some light on the extremely complicated process of creating a map that can be used competitively and also explains why he thinks de_mirage should not be used in tournaments.
