pre-ESWC interview: n! disruptor
Time: 2012-10-31 11:26
Event: ESWC 2012
Game: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Coming up second to last but ready to prove not least is Christoph "disruptor" Dölger's n!faculty who received a last minute invite to ESWC 2012 as a direct replacement to RuSh3D.

While n!faculty haven't exactly amazed us with their results so far, they recently tied the number one German team mousesports in EPS and seem to be on the right track towards improving.

Will ESWC be their breakout tournament as a team in CS:GO? Continue reading to find out what Dölger thinks of their preparation for and chances at ESWC, about CS:GO itself, and more.

How have you prepared for ESWC 2012? Have you bootcamped or only practiced online? Do you feel ready for the competition?

We just got the invite yesterday for this event, so there is no exclusive preparation for this event. However we’ve had a bootcamp and are in the middle of the ESL Pro Series preparation. We are ready and really looking forward to the competition!

How many hours have you played CS:GO overall? How about your teammates?

I for myself have 331.8 hours, asmo 294.8 hours, Kirby 339.3 hours, smn 359.7 hours and qk-Mantis 280.0 hours.

What are your thoughts on CS:GO? What do you like and dislike? If you could change one thing, what would it be?

I like the game. The better I get the more fun it makes :D! I got used to the new moneysystem and molotovs. It’s all about getting used to the new stuff; then it’s all fine. I would like to see the netcode improved with less interp.

What do you expect from ESWC 2012? If your life depended on guessing your final placing, what would you guess?

First of all I expect a great major event, which is well organized with big coverage going on. It is very hard, predicting our final placing, but if my life depends on guessing, I would say place 5 to 6 :). Even though our aim is to compete higher than that! We are going to give our best!

disruptor at a recent n!faculty photoshoot

What can you tell us about your competition based on seeing them play and practicing against them? Who do you consider the strongest three teams going into the event?

Well, I guess the strongest two teams will be NiP and Verygames. The rest is very hard to predict, because we haven’t practiced against these teams in a while and on LAN some teams will be better than online! The matches and groups are going to be interesting.

Can you talk about your teammates and explain to our readers what everyone's role on the team is in-game?

All teammates have to read the opponent from their positions and give advices to me, the in-game leader. Two to three players (qk-Manits, asmo, smn) are capable of using a sniper. The roles can be changed in-game, but mainly it’s like this:

disruptor (me) = in-game leader, rifle

asmo = rifle (possible AWP)

Kirby = rifle

smn = rifle (possible AWP)

qk-Mantis = AWP (possible rifle)

Many say CS:S players had an advantage in switching to CS:GO, do you agree? Has the game been out long enough for it to even out?

I agree, because the “switchover” from CS:S is way easier than from 1.6. It’s almost the same engine; in addition I would say CS:GO is CS:S 2, which is nice for me and all sourcers. However you need to play a lot to get used to the new or different recoil. With Kirby we have a 1.6 player in our roster and he is fully integrated in the game. So I would say the game is out long enough for them 1.6ers.

n!faculty - disruptor, smn, asmo, qk-mantis & Kirby

Do you believe it is necessary or advantageous to mix players from different games, or do you think it does not help?

As long as the “different games” are just Counter-Strike Version XYZ it could be ok. It’s the same gameplay, but it’s definitely not necessary or an advantage. Important is that the players are accessible social professional persons, that are giving headshots in this new game, that’s it ;).

With CS:GO still being a relatively new game, do you believe simply playing more hours still gives players a clear advantage?

I would say so, because it’s still a new game that has a different recoil. The more you play, the better you get. But in my opinion this advantage is going to be gone within the next months. Then everybody is used to the game mechanics and not confused anymore by anything new or different in the game.

Were you surprised to receive the last minute invite given your failure in the German ESWC qualifier?

I was very surprised and extremely happy about the invite! I haven’t thought about the ESWC much. I was fully concentrated on the ESL Pro Series Season and the Dreamhack winter event. With the surprising invite it’s a big dream came true: To finally play a big major event. The German ESWC Qualifier is long time ago and we are way better now!

Do you feel it's important for you to outperform mousesports as the best German team at ESWC? Are you only thinking about the big picture or is there some hope of mousesports failing while you hope to do well yourselves?

It’s important for us to perform our best! We wish mousesports best of luck, but if we compete better than them, it would be a good statement for us as a team and for the upcoming events like the ESL Pro Series Playoffs.

Do you have anything to say to the people critiquing your invitation on our site, including members of other competitive CS:GO teams?

Most of them are just jealous and the rest are haters. Im happy about the supporters and guys that wish us luck. We want to prove everybody, that we deserve the slot! Most people are flaming us, so we have nothing to loose. We are extremely happy about this event and want to thank everybody that gave us the chance in competing this big major event! Our thanks goes out to our sponsors CM Storm and gamed!de, our Manager Christian 'PsYcHo' Lenz and our organization n!faculty!

Coming up later today will be an interview with a VeryGames member, followed up by more articles in the coming days such as the viewer's guide, an in-depth preview of each team as well as full coverage kicking off on Friday. Remember to also sign up for our Dreamteam game here.

Anyways, very interesting to hear from the true underdogs of this tournament. Disruptor's a handsome man, as well. =)

extensive might have a chance (no idea who is on that team tbh) but i can't imagine verygames losing against ozstrik3r unless vg has been MAJORLY hyped up to be better than they are, which i doubt.

they haven't won yet, but we won't interview every candidate and there's no point releasing an interview on the last night, so we chose to interview a verygames member now, and ask them about the qualifier itself, among other things (eswc, preparation, cs:go etc).

they must feel pretty confident they will win, it's just how it goes
2012-10-31 12:22:30
Understandable, seeing as VG are the favorites to win ESWC France. I wouldn't really be surprised to see eXtensive at least give VG a run for their money, if not win.
2012-10-31 12:25:28
-M- are the only one who can win over VG. eXtensive are okay, but atm. not good enogh :d
2012-10-31 12:50:10
is there any coverage of this qualifier?
Can't find it using google
