Yeah, how can they give 250$ for a 5 man team?

It doesn't make sense, like i don't know, atleast they can party.

$250 can definitely supply a decent party

at least they can buy some bber, weed, food and just play ps/xbox

prize money is prize money u better not complain about it lol :D
2012-11-06 19:06:21
I think its good that the price is not distributed only among top 3. If 16 teams attend the event its pretty stupid that 13/16 teams leave with empty pockets.

Lineups? I know the most obvious but the ones like "tributes to sylvester and Alternate.
2012-11-06 18:09:58
sylvester : nashje, disturbed, kononen, MAKKE, stonde

alternate: Rak, mnL, kRYSTAL, fel1x, SolEk

sourcers
2012-11-06 18:18:20
so tribute is ex-roccat and isn't kRYSTAL the german hacker?
2012-11-06 19:56:58
Yes; Kevin Amen, also known as kRYSTAL, is probably the most known hacker - besides dav1d from ex-mTw - within the Counter-Strike: Source-scene - although he played insane at this years Copenhagen Games, where his team ALTERNATE aTTax finished 2nd after Mousesports.
2012-11-06 20:15:25
He used to hack, he performed really great in professional CSS after he joined Alternate tho. Can't wait to see what him, Rak and mnL can perform in GO.

So people were complaining that prize money in 1.6 was to low (because it was an old game and there are no sponsors).. but here in cs:go (untill now) there is the same prize pool. Why? This is a new game and there are no sponsors?

To be honest I find it interesting that people are even hosting new events considering the start of CS:GO. ESWC had very few viewers, 50% (perhaps even more) of the community seem to hate the game and quite frankly the matches we've seen so far have been way less entertaining than the 1.6 matches we're used to.

I'm not trying to blame CS:GO too much. I really, really WANT to like the game and I'm all for a new Counter-Strike. Sadly I don't find the matches interesting these days.
2012-11-06 18:40:13

Yes, obviously. Although I believe many would agree with me.
2012-11-06 19:46:42
Because they are ignorant 1.6ers like you ;-)
2012-11-06 20:16:50
For a NiP game in the groupstages it had more than 18.000 viewers, I don't see that being small, compared to it's the game's first really big event - with huge mistakes involved, and besides DHV (which I don't think is BIG) - and it has already come to that +15.000 viewers mark, I find that quite impressive. There were NO game in Counter-Strike back in 2000-2003 who had that.
Think like this:
~18,000 viewers online
~4,000 viewers at the venue (if it was at the MLG Dallas, it could've been filling out that crowding-area too, I am sure of that.D

Hate the player (you), and not the game.
2012-11-06 20:20:20
Rome wasn't built in a day.... theres a shit load of tournaments currently for CS:GO.
2012-11-06 21:51:30
I am not talking about the number of tournaments, but about the prize pool for top ones (like ESWC was -or should've been if not- some days ago and how this one should be).
I said that only because I've seen lots of users writing stuff like "cs:go is only money" which for now it is proven to be only bullshit.
2012-11-06 23:10:58
The game's been out for 4 months, give it some time. more players = more money

It was a "side tournament" at ESWC, how do people not know what this term means?

Big jesus?

And to Clarify, DreamHack Winter $45,000, ESEA $35,000 & THOR Open $18,000... for a game which has only been released officially for the last 3 months, and is still struggiling to find its feet within the community that is pretty impressive numbers for the minute.

lol... we are two months in not 12 years in.....
2012-11-07 17:21:21
The newer the better in esports tho, all the big esportsgames are fairly new.

DotA 2 is only in beta for example.
2012-11-07 17:30:32
CS is not DotA2... stop trying to compare the two.
2012-11-07 18:25:55
Actually it is very comparable as both are esportgames, but sure, lets pretend it isn't comparable - do you realise that pretty much EVERY new game becomes bigger then it's predecessors?
2012-11-07 18:28:07
Do you know I concluded that you were deluded a long time ago... so we shall end this "debate" here.
2012-11-07 18:35:05
Next time don't talk about the game industry when you don't know anything about the game industry.
2012-11-07 18:36:34
This coming from you with your "bold" plans to give the "perfect fps".... ha.

You simply cannot compare DotA2 to CS, accept that....
2012-11-07 18:39:34
You do realise that pretty much every game becomes bigger then it's predecessor?

Also it's completely fair to compare DotA 2 and CS, they are all part of the same industry. Gameplay is totally irrelevant here.
2012-11-07 19:01:18
I need to explain it to you word by word?

Now...

Is there any events in CS:GO? Is there any money in CS:GO?
